Global Warming is a Hoax! It is just a method of convinicing the public to go along with things they would never put up with any other way. Convince them with fear and guilt they are ruining the earth, then you can tax away their money and restrict their rights without a fight. We need to get more of our own oil before the U.S. economy is in a depression. This comment has been reported to the site manager. It will be reviewed and removed if inappropriate. Thank you!

In the wake of a record $4-plus surge in crude, I believe you must soon acknowledge some inconvenient truths. To wit, that continuing to deny Americans their birthright of abundant and affordable domestic energy production is fundamentally unconstitutional. Augmenting the already profligate fortunes of nations and terrorist sponsors who detest us is nonsensical and betrays a vacuousness at the core of our security and economic policy, which can only bring glee to the faces of our enemies. As Art Robinson, founder of the wildly successful but underreported Petition Project of scientists against "man-made global warming" stated this week: "There is absolutely no technical, resource, or environmental reason for the U.S. to be a net importer of energy. The U.S. should, in fact, be a net exporter of energy."
Senators and Congressmen, please take heed. A few thousand signers today is but a foretaste of the hordes of voters who will flood your phone lines, and eventually the streets of Washington, if you persist with your half-measures and witch-hunts, and fail to allow Americans to attain our rightful energy security using the prodigious resources under our very feet.

Stop sitting on your hands and playing Nero's fidel while America goes down the tubes. We the little people know about your world order plans with a few in control, while we
become a third world nation. There is plenty of gas and oil for the next 500 years under our feet.
So why don't you get off your pillows and do what you were elected to do, LEAD.

Please open this area for drilling NOW. Did the Alaskan oil pipeline ruin that environment? No. Can the oil companies drill without making a mess? Of course they can. Just announcing that we're drilling will cause the current producers to reduce the price - They don't want the competition! You've already screwed up food supplies by mandating that our food be burned (ethenol), creating all sorts of other problems. And now when you have a chance to do something to help the world energy problem, you do nothing.
I guess it isn't a big enough problem yet for you to worry that you won't be re-elected? I've got news for you -- it is!

I am TIRED of you IDIOTS anti-drilling agenda. You work for the people of America. Many of you have lost touch with this concept. While the price of gas reaches $4.00 a gallon the blue collar workers, like myself, are making concessions to afford a tank of gas. You with the six figure incomes don't give a damn about the people who elected you. You want to keep issues in place that won't allow drilling in remote areas and that's BULLSHIT! The rest of the world is drilling and laughing at us! Our government would rather be concerened about steriods than the economy. Where is the sence? There is none! The government a LONG TIME ago should have been intellegent enough to see that America need to rely upon it's self, however I feel today's government thinks through their asses instead of their brains. You as a governing body are KILLING America with the left-wing SHIT that has no bases for reality. Do something smart and start considering opening the avenues to drilling so we can tell OPEC to go to HELL! We should be more for America that the rest of the world. They don't give a Damn about us why should we about them?!That's the way I feel about ellected officials! You DISGUST ME!!!!!
All of you can take a long walk off a short peer!

As a voting member of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, which you were elected to represent, I want you to vote for a legislation that will allow the drilling in ANWR and I want to see you work hard to convince the rest of the Senators and Representatives to support such legislation. In a time where the countries of our current oil suppliers have such a hateful attitude toward us; where the prices of gas show a clear strain on our economy and our livelihoods, it is only common sense that we, the United States, rely on ourselves and our own resources.
By allowing the drilling of ANWR we may not prevent hardships in the short run, but in the longer run, five or ten years down the road, we may be able to prevent the deterioration of our economy. Our economy runs on oil and until alternative fuels are perfected we need that oil in order to advance.
In the future I would like to still be making a living. I would love to be able to say the United States of America is still the greatest and most fruitful country in the world, and nothing would make me happier than to say that you helped make it happen.
In conclusion, if you do not vote for and promote the drilling in ANWR I will not vote for or promote you.

It's time to end this terrorism from both abroad and within the US. These "American Hating" countries are out to see our ecomony collapse, while we sit around on our hands letting the "tree hugging" crowd help them do so. This "Global Warming Myth" is just a new age religion based soley on false and twisted information. Wake Up America! We need to throw these liberal extremist politicians who don't have a clue out of office. It's time to drill. We need to turn the tables on the oil extortionists and let them keep their oil. This comment has been reported to the site manager. It will be reviewed and removed if inappropriate. Thank you!

I do not understand why congress is allowing. special interests, to dictate the national security policy of the United States of America. This should not be allowed. We need to drill for our own oil, do coal gassification, shale oil and whatever else we can do , to be energy sufficient.

Our oil is our future. The oppression of high oil prices must be reduced by increasing the supply side of the equation. Resist the pressure to maintain the blockade against our energy and allow our oil companies to open the oil fields thereby increasing supply on the world market. Failing to do so will result in dire consequences for all of us.Respectfully,

ECON 101--MORE SUPPLY, SIMILAR DEMAND = LOWER PRICING! WE CAN ONLY CONSERVE SO MUCH. FUEL IS BASICALLY AN INELASTIC DEMAND. I MUST DRIVE TO WORK. I CAN ONLY CONSERVE SO MUCH AND I CANNOT AFFORD TO PAY WHAT IT TAKES TO DRIVE TO WORK. I GET OVER 30MPG ON MY 1997 PRIZM, SO WHAT ELSE CAN I DO? WHY IS CONGRESS SO READILY PREPARED TO SENT BILLIONS OF OUR DOLLARS TO FORIEGN NATIONS, SO MANY OF WHOM ARE OPENLY HOSTILE TO US? IF ONLY FOR NATIONAL SECURITY, FOR ECONOMIC SECURITY, FOR ____SAKE PLEASE DRILL! DRILL , DRILL DRILL! OUR OIL COMPANIES CAN BE HELD TO ENVIRONMENTAL AND SAFETY STANDARDS, AND ARE CAPABLE TO PUMP OIL WITHOUT WASTING THE ENVIRONMENT. WE NEED TO DO THIS NOW! I AM AMAZED AT THE FOOLISHNESS OF SOME IN CONGRESS AND ALL OF POLITICS AND MEDIA TO EXPECT THE OIL INDUSTRY TO STRIVE TO FIND ALTERNATIVES THAT WOULD PUT THEMSELVES OUT OF BUSINESS. THINK OF IT, WAS THE AUTOMOBILE CREATED BY BLACKSMITHS AND BUGGYWHIP SUPPLIERS? ALTERNATIVES WILL MORE LIKELY BE FOUND BY SOMEONE WHO IS NOT PART OF THE OIL INDUSTRY. THE OIL INDUSTRY'S CONCERN SHOULD BE TO PRODUCE AND MARKET OIL BASED PRODUCTS CHEAPLY ENOUGH AND RELIABLY PLENTIFUL ENOUGH TO COMPETE WITH ANY ALTERNATIVE FUEL. THEN WE CAN TALK ABOUT "ENERGY INDEPENDENCE". UNTIL YOU AT LEAST, OPEN OUR POOL OF OIL TO OUR OIL DRILLERS, DON'T BLOW YOUR SMOKE IN MY DIRECTION. LET THEN DRILL AND HOLD THEM TO SAFETY AND REASONABLE ENVIRONMENTAL STANDARDS. MARK NOSKOThis comment has been reported to the site manager. It will be reviewed and removed if inappropriate. It's high time this "bi-partisan" gamesmanship stop. Our dependence on foreign oil is not only an economic drain on this country, but represents a clear and present danger that will NOT diminish until we become more self sufficient.Nobody ever wants to talk about developing alternative energy sources (and I ABSOLUTELY do NOT mean ethanol) because it will take too long and be too expensive. Please, I beg you, tell me any solution to a major, national problem that has not taken time or cost considerable amounts of money. Oh, and let's not forget the objection to wind power generation off the coast of Martha's Vineyard. And who was doing the objecting???? The same people who bemoan the lack of alternative energy sources. I guess its only time to get serious is if its "not in my back yard".
We MUST drill in ANWR, we must drill off of our very own shores, we must explore and develop the shale oil deposits in the plains, we must support Brazil in their efforts to exploit their recent finds. And we MUST build new refineries. Technology has changed. Surely within the next ten years we can bulid refineries that are considerably safer, economically viable and environmentally neutral. But we sure won't know unless we do it.
Please share this with the other Ladies and Gentlemen of the Congress. It is time to do the jobs that you were elected to do and for which you are paid an obscene sum. Stop worrying about your own re-elections for just one term, just one! This country and in fact the world is dependent on fossil fuels and will continue to be for the foreseeable future. Would it not be better both economically and strategically to be dependent on our own?
Common sense...what a concept.

UNITED STATES CONGRESS- I am extremely miffed that i must pay exorbitant costs to fuel my two family vehicles. Currently the congress is featuring - A DOG AND PONY SHOW- with the "oil executives", trying to blame BIG OIL for the ridiculous rise in our fuel costs--- bull crap!! IT'S SUPPLY AND DEMAND- So long as we have a U.S. CONGRESS THAT'S MORE INTERESTED IN MAINTAINING POWER BY COWTAILING TO BOGUS ENVIRONMENTAL GROUPS- THAT FEIGN AN ENVIRONMENTAL DISASTER SHOULD WE DRILL AND "DESECRATE SACRED WILDLIFE HABITAT"-- ALL FOR THE SAKE OF HUGE CAMPAIGN DONATIONS AND THAT COVETED VOTE TO HOLD ONTO YOUR GREEDY, GLUTTONOUS POWER- YOU PEOPLE AT THE TOP STUPIDLY DECREE THERE SHALL BE NO DRILLING IN ANWAR, CONUS AND OFF SHORE IN THE UNITED STATES! AMERICA IS THE NUMBER ONE MOST POWERFUL NATION and when we have our own huge amount of resources on our "own property" that you place off limits- it obviously depletes the worldwide supply which will drive up the costs to fuel our vehicles. There is no legitimate excuse as to why AMERICA CAN NOT UTILIZE ITS OWN RESOURCES. Plus- AMERICA HAS A HABIT OF BEING EXCELLENT STEWARDS IN TERMS OF CLEANING UP AFTER OURSELVES SO AS NOT TO POLLUTE OR DESPOIL THE LANDSCAPE. In fact- DRILLING AND MINING CAN BE CONDUCTED IN HARMONY WITH THE WILDLIFE AND FISHES where we know fully well that no animal or vegetation will be be harmed or permanently depleted. The time has come- america must drill, mine and build nuclear plants RATHER THAN DEPEND ON FOREIGN NATIONS TO SUPPLY US-ESPECIALLY WHEN WE KNOW WE ARE -PAYING FOR TERROISM- BY GIVING OIL PROFITS TO ROGUE REGIMES!!In closing- KNOWING THE TRUCKING INDUSTRY IS REALLY BEING GOUGED BY THESE HUGE FUEL INCREASES- IF I WERE A TRUCKER- I'D BE ON A NATIONAL SHUTDOWN UNTIL YOU -OUT OF TOUCH POLITICOS- COME TO YOUR SENSES AND BEGIN UTILIZING OUR OWN NATUARAL RESOURCES!!! And if i hear anything STUPID- AS GLOBAL WARMING- BEING A REASON TO DETER DRILLING AND MINING- THEN I KNOW IT'S THE TIME TO VOTE ALL OF YOU OUT OF OFFICE!!This comment has been reported to the site manager. I'm tired of our impotent government not doing anything about this issue! We are governed by a totalitarian system that is comprised of an elite minority who are totally out of touch with the American people. I say Totalitarian because Democrats and Republicans are becoming one big corrupt party. We no longer have a two party system, we have but one party all running further to the left. Our government no longer represents us, and seem to not care about this issue. I bet half of our elected officals can't even operate a gas pump. The leftist environmentalists have so much influence over this issue, and it isn't about the environment; it's about money and control. After reading today that you and your compadres put on another charade for the misinformed American people by again grilling the executives of the oil companies, I just had to sign this petition and write to you. What a joke!! You must really and truly assume ignorance of all of us out here... do you get folks from Hollywood to come out and assist you in these rediculous productions?? How do YOU sleep at night? Why do I ask this? Ok, I'll tell you. Why is it ok for the federal government to make twice as much profit on energy as the energy companies themselves?? Why do you stand by and allow environmental policies to block domestic production when new technology could assure the same clean results as these outdated crippling policies?? And why do you assume that we, the great people of these United States, don't see through your rediculous charade?
It is not Obama, or Hillary, or John McCain who divide this country. It is ALL OF YOU, together, putting on these rediculous and false shows of concern that lead so many of us to not trust in you any more. If I were one of these exec's, I would first laugh at your invitation, then tell you 'no,' and then spend the rest of my work day trying to figure out a way to get the idiot politicians in this country to understand the simple premise that the only answer to the oil situation is more supply.

You congressmen and senators need to do right by Americans and declare a national security alert and lift the restrictions on oil drilling, not only in Anwar, but off all of our coasts, off shore and other locations within the U.S. with proven reserves. You don't have to be a prize winning economist to know that when demand increases for oil (China, India, et al) that prices will rise. The Prez has asked the Saudis to increase production twice and those Wahhabis just say no.
Let us throw off the chains of "environmentatlists" who have strangled the American peple's access to our own lands and begin the oil production and the building of new refineries which will bring down the price of oil and gasoline as Strong America's production comes further and further online.
LET'S STOP BEING IDIOTS AND DUPES FOR SPECIAL GROUPS WHOSE MOTIVATIONS ARE TRULY SUSPECT-IT'S TIME FOR A NATIONAL SECURITY ALERT NOW!!!

It is unforgivable that my representative are hooked into the environmental wackoes; it seems the only logical reason is for some kind of personal pay off. Why would a patriot have reason to legislate so far that our energy infrastructure is lagging behind to keep up with the productivity of this nation? Why can't we find representatives to be in congress that represent the national security rather than self interests? Who will do the right thing to promote petroleum cracking plants and oil drilling construction in our own territories rather than giving our resources and technologies to our enemies? The more I pay attention to what congress is doing, the more convinced I am they are the enemy within, bringing our nation down to it knees and inslavement of the people to government controls and distribution of wealth. This comment has been reported to the site manager. If America is to become energy independant, then we need to start utilizing the resources that we have such as oil, natural gas, coal, nuclear, etc,... while we also invest in alternative fuel supplies, such as fuel cell technology. We also need to build more refineries. The only way these alternatives will happen is if you let the free market system work. If we would have done this in the seventies after the oil embargo we would not be in the situation we are today. The only group to blame is the Congress. Your job is to do whats best for ALL OF THE PEOPLE, not just the ones who lobby and throw money at you. This comment has been reported to the site manager. We have the oil - let us drill for it! We are having enough economic troubles without adding high fuel costs. I would think that instead of paying other countries for what ever amount of oil they feel comfortable in letting us have, it would behove us to keep our money at home, and become independent of the oil conglomerates. It will take some time to start up the drilling and refining process, as well as to get everyone into a new hybrid vehicle. Let's use the oil we already have and get started on the road to independence instead of teetering on the brink of bankruptcy! This comment has been reported to the site manager. After listening to some of the comments from the hearings with the oil executives today, the abject stupidity and ignorance of Pat Leahy and others who agree with his point of view is frightening. These pompous fools are either genuinely stupid, or they are on a coordinated campaign to ruin this country. They have created this mess and then they turn around point the finger at everyone else. Furthermore, they are embarrassing this country by doing childish things like passing a bill to sue OPEC or demanding that other countries up their production while not allowing the oil companies to drill for our own oil. It is so hard to believe it's almost like a bad dream. You couldn't make this stuff up.This comment has been reported to the site manager. It will be reviewed and removed if inappropriate. Thank you!

We as a society need to explore and utilize every available resource that we have available to us in order to keep our economy moving forward, with $5 a gallon gas looming this means that we now have to allow the drilling of this oil to occur, with that being said the drilling of this oil would not fix all of our problems but would alleviate the strain on the American taxpayers wallets and give us more time to find and implement alternative fuel sources. This comment has been reported to the site manager. I will worry about how we are preceived around the world, when I see the immigration numbers drop. We are looked up to and envyed by most of the other countries around the world. The rest of the world can not afford to see the United States become a second tier world power. We must maintain our economy to maintain our status and our ability to help others around the world. I am an independent businessman. I drive around 35,000 miles per year. I pay my taxes on time, try to vote regularly and support as many local businesses as possible. My customers are golf course superintendents. Golf, as many of you know, is a hobby many people enjoy, especially our retirees. Golf courses provide wonderful greenspaces and exercise. Turfgrass is a large consumer of CO2 and replenishes O2 for we humans to breathe. Studies have shown, one acre of turfgrass supplies more O2 than an applicable size of rain forest. Many of my customers are currently struggling to fulfill gas and diesel requirements for their equipment. Re-filling their gas and diesel storage tanks can cost upwards of $4,000 per trip, usually every month they are open for business. We taxpayers demand that the Senate and Congress enable exploration, and development of the North American oil deposits. Please do something before we all have to start a revolution! This comment has been reported to the site manager. It will be reviewed and removed if inappropriate. Thank you!

Gentlemen: It's time for you as a group to stop this insanity of supporting environmental groups that are destroying our country's economy, and thus its progress, by roadblocking efforts to drill for our own oil. Your support of these groups raises the question of what you are getting in return for this action that borders on treason. Could it be that you are selling the stability of this country for votes, and worse yet, campaign funding? It is absolutely unconscionable that the president of the most powerful nation on earth has to grovel before a country that just barely tolerates us for a larger supply of what is, and will continue to be, the lifeblood of this nation. The selling of the idea that oil substitutes will completely replace this product in applications other than for fuel is also heretical. Because of the continually rising prices of oil and food, the people of this country are on the verge of a major uprising. You had better be ready for it.This comment has been reported to the site manager. It will be reviewed and removed if inappropriate. Thank you!

During today's congressional hearing with oil executives, Sen. Richard Durbin, D-Ill, accused the corporate executives of ignoring the plight of people suffering because of high energy prices. “Where is your corporate conscience?” he asked them.My question to Congress is, "Where is your government conscience and why do you continue to buy more oil from Saudi Arabia when we have our own oil here in the United States?"
“The issue is simple,” said Leahy. “People we represent are hurting, the companies you represent are profiting.”
My response to Mr. Leahy's statement is, "The People you represent are hurting because members of Congress continue to waste taxpayer dollars on these ridiculous and meaningless hearings!" Where are the heroes who will stand up for what is best for the American People? It's time to begin drilling in ANWR and then we can claim that OUR fuel was "Made in the USA!"
Shame on the those members of Congress who continue to deceive the American People who had bestowed their trust in them to do the people's work! Make no doubt about it... the People of the United States of America will remember your selfishness and perfidy at election time!

It is with the utmost urgency that we start drilling in the US for oil and start opening more refineries due to the ever increase in oil and gas prices. It's not the oil companies causing the problem, it's our government. We have the right as citizens of the United States to urge our representatives in Washington to be accountable for their lack of concern with this major gas and oil crisis.May God bless and protect our nation. Dear Congress, Let's not just talk about the cost of oil and for Heaven's sake no more taxes on oil, so that leaves only one solution - DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT AND OPEN UP THE ANWR AREA FOR DRILLING. The Democrats took over the Congress in 2006 and still no change - in fact oil has doubled in price! This comment has been reported to the site manager. It is getting ridiculous, because the incentives are not aligned!!! Countries like Iran and Venesuala are increasing their profit margins by sowing chaos and uncertainty. For example, all the rantings from Iran to destroy Israel create uncertainty regarding war in the Middle East, which just fuels the price of oil. So, the crazier Ahmadinejad gets the more money he makes!!! We must break this dependence on foreign oil. It is my understanding the ANWR holds the greatest promise. Please, please, please begin drilling. This comment has been reported to the site manager. It will be reviewed and removed if inappropriate. Thank you!

The single most important policy is Energy Independence Now! Drilling in Anwar, offshore needs to be done immediately. All restrictions on Nuclear energy need to be removed and Nuclear Energy needs to be fast tracked. We need to quit sending our money to Saudi Arabia, to be used against us.
It is absolutely essential that our politicians understand this or they will be gone in their next re-election, replaced by those who do understand.
Stopping illegal imigration is the second priority which will cause politicians to lose their jobs.
Not funding our troops around the world is assumed, if politicians continue to politicize war fund, they will be replaced. Fund our troops, leave no doubts in our soldiers, their families, our allies and our enemies that America means business.
These are the only issues that matter in our next elections.

For reference, I am a professional petroleum engineer with BS, MS, and PhD degrees and I am a registered professional engineer. I have over 40 years experience in the industry, both domestic and international. I have significant background and experience in all aspects of the international industry, including drilling, production, exploration, computer modeling, logistics, and economic evaluation, with my specialty being reservoir engineering. I retired from an executive management position with a major international company and now do private consulting.I continue to be appalled at the success of the liberal left wing environmentalists and their very successful campaign to deny us the access to our own significant resources. The ban on drilling in ANWR makes no sense to me. I get further upset when I hear my representatives agree with those decisions and talk about preserving the "pristine beauty" of ANWR. I too, want to preserve the actual ANWR beauty.........but let's get real! The very tiny portion of ANWR that would be opened to drilling is so small it's dwarfed by the entire reserve. Further, it's located right on the coast in a flat marshy bog that is about as ugly a peice of land as exists anywhere on earth. I have been there, seen it, and can't imagine how anyone could speak of it as "pristine beauty." Have you actually been there and seen it???
The modern extreme-reach directional and horizontal drilling techniques that would be used to develop the fields there would disturb a very small piece of the surface (and even that would probably be an improvement.) The industry has had an excellent environmental record in the Alaskan North Slope development. Remember the hue and cry back in the 70's about the Alaskan Pipeline would destroy the caribou? Well, guess what? The caribou poulation has quadrupled since the line was built. ( The slight warmth it gives off has made the line right-of-way the favorite breeding grounds of the caribou!!!)
Just think, if Bill Clinton had not vetoed the bill that aproved drilling in ANWR we would have all that production on line today. And add to that all of the other promising areas that are off limits, and the new refineries we can't get appproved, and we would not be facing $5 gasoline today.
And let's stop bashing OPEC. There's very little excess capacity in OPEC today. If we want to see the real culprit in why we're in an energy crisis in the country, our congressmen only have to look in the mirror.

I'am aware that drilling in ANWAR will have only a small impact on the overall demand for oil in the United States. However, when gasoline and heating oil have almost doubled over the last year, any positive impact would be helpful. In addition to increased domestic drilling, there is a great need for the constuction of additional oil refineries and the reduction in the number mandated gasoline blends.

We can no longer afford to pay terrorist country to attack us, we must have energy independence!!We must drill our own oil!!!
We have spent over 30 years and millions of dollars on alternitive energy and what progress do we have none!!!
And now that the intellegent congress had passed a bill requiring ethonol and their wisdom has created starvation and food shortages around the world. My wife just came back from oversea and she saw the lines to get what available rice there was. The rice patties were converted to grow corn and palm oil trees.
Let free market reign, we are at the mercy of OPEC and they did reduce oil productivity last year driving up costs.
The moment that we announce drilling in our country, the price of oil will drop dramaticly, due to OPEC does not want us to open our resources and spending our money here instead of the pockets of terrorist.

Stopping the trickle of crude going into the SPR was an utter waste of hot air. It won't do a thing to bring down the price of either crude or gasoline.Recent steps to prevent development of Colorado shale oil, to prevent drilling anywhere, anyhow, are just forcing us into more dependence on foreign suppliers. And that threatens US security.
And did you ever hear one of these so-called "protectors of the environment" urging the government to do anything about the constant seepage of crude oil out of the ground and seabed in the coastal waters of Alaska? Doesn't that crude damage the wildlife and environment they are so concerned about? Drilling in coastal waters, and withdrawing crude oil and natural gas from the reserves will relieve the pressure that is forcing that oil out of the ground/seabed, and reduce pollution that has affected the area.
To quote from the USGS 2002 evaluation of the ANWR Reserves:
" 'Whereas there are large seepages of petroleum along the Arctic Coast of Alaska and conditions favorable to the occurrence of valuable petroleum fields on the Arctic Coast . . .' President Warren G. Harding used those words in 1923 to describe the apparent petroleum potential of a tract of land on the western North Slope of Alaska, when he issued a one-page executive order establishing the 23-million acre (36,000 square miles) Naval Petroleum Reserve No. 4."

To whom it may concern,Let me start by saying thank you for taking the time to read my letter.
I am very concerned about the price of fuel in our great country and I feel it is time for our elected officials to do something about the our current economic situation. The price of crude oil affects every aspect of our economy. When will it finally be enough for congress to do something? When gasoline is $6.00 per gallon and diesel is $7.00 dollars per gallon? When farmers can no longer afford to run their tractors and farming equiptment? When a loaf of bread is $5.00? When the working men and women of America can no longer afford to fuel their cars to drive to work, put food on the tables for their families and pay their bills thus increasing the dependency of the citizens of America to rely on the government to subsidize their incomes and dragging this great country even further down?
I am for researching and finding alternative fuels but we have problems now! Congress needs to stop the bleeding. It is common knowledge that we have wells drilled and capped all over the Gulf of Mexico and America. There is oil available here in our country, enough to satisfy the needs of our country and break our dependency on foreign oil until alternative fuels can be found and utilized, and yet for some unknown reason we bow to the "extreme" environmentalists while our economy and our country countinues to weaken! Our government needs to do something! I think major league baseball will be fine if congress lets them be for a little while and concentrates on a real problem facing America. We need to start taking care of ourselfs in America and stop relying on foreign nations whom could care less if we all disappeared tomorrow, most of whom would prefer that we did, and start using our own resources! We need to start drilling and supplying ourselfs with the oil this country needs to survive.

It's just plain crazy to limit access to the resources that contribute to our "certain inalienable rights" to Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness.Inalienable (Individual) Rights are: natural rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. They are the most fundamental set of human rights, natural means not-granted nor conditional. They are applicable only to humans, as the basic necessity of their survival.

What will it take for us to finally bring this nation to seeing the enormous costs (monetary and opportunity costs) that are being placed on us as a result of not drilling for our own oil in ANWR along with the restrictions and vilifying those who are not at fault (oil and other energy companies)? The costs that we will have to bear as mankind as a result of drilling in ANWR will pale in comparison to those that are being pushed upon us now as a result of our inaction.I believe that our attention on alternative energies is good and just; however, there is an immediate solution to many of the issues that we are currently facing. Any semi-intelligent investor knows that funding long term investments (alternative energies) with short term capital (expectation of a quick return) is detrimental to one’s portfolio and potentially devastating to his livelihood. Let’s not make that mistake with our energy policy. Let us address the current issue with currently viable solutions while we look forward to the future.
I implore you to push for the solutions that will assist our country with growth for the next five years and beyond. For the short term support the United States citizen’s right to use our collective property for our benefit and permit drilling in ANWR. For the long term support the advancement of alternative energies. Finally, support Pennsylvania by backing alternatives that are currently proven or much closer than many other alternatives in clean coal and coal-to-liquids technology.

Currently the world oil situation is becoming critical, output has dropped in Russia, Mexico, and Venezula. With China and India having increasing demand the United State needs to become energy independent. That means drilling in Anwr, and off the coast of Flordia, and California, and anywhere else there is oil. Additionally, we need to convert coal to oil and tap the oil shale in the western US. We we don't act and soon the economy of this country is going to decline rapidly. The people who are really be hurt by this are the lower and middle class. With all things tied to oil the cost of food, transportation, medicine are all on the rise. Start now to drill in ANWAR, off-shore of Florida and off-shore of California. The sooner you start, the sooner the relief will come. If the drilling had started ten years ago there wouldn't be a problem now. This comment has been reported to the site manager. It will be reviewed and removed if inappropriate. Thank you!

More oil=lower prices!!!!!If the rise in oil/gas cost is not due to supply and demand why are you suing OPEC to produce more!!! Drill in ANWR!
Do you know how ridiculous it looks to demand OPEC to produce more when we won't produce more here in the US!!! The Congress looks pathetic and weak voting to sue OPEC ...big Whoop....while you vote down any plan to drill in the USA...
Listen to the people and drill, if Clinton had permitted ANWR drilling 10 years ago we wouldn't be dependant on terrorist countries for our oil supplly.

When I saw Mr. Arlen Specter on the news last week spending 1/2 hour of time complaining about Spygate, it made me angry, especially when I had to stop and get gas later. Please put that much time, effort, and news time into telling us how you are going solve this problem!! Drill in ANWR, drill off the Gulf Coast (within sight of the Chinese wells), build refineries, and continue to explore the coal gasification process. It will create jobs, lower the price of oil, generate additional tax revenue, and make our country safer! This comment has been reported to the site manager. Enough is enough. We stand idly by while our economic lives are dictated by those who only have their own self-serving interests at heart. I speak not only of radical leftist eco-nuts, but of congress itself. Members of congress, who should know better, pander to the flavor of the day ideology--in this case environmentalists--at the expense of those who pay for their extravagant ways of life, US.The solution to the current oil situation is simple enough; drill for oil domestically and increase the market supply, depriving importers the strangle hold they now enjoy and bring the price of crude back in line. We must also allow for more refining capacity to help ease the pain at the pump. Yes, yes, I know the argument; it will take so long for these steps to show up at the pump, but I also know it will take a lot longer to implement alternative fuel sources and there are no guarantees these will be more economically palatable than fossil fuels.
A last thought: It is time to cease blaming the administration for our woe’s and place the blame for this situation squarely on the shoulders those who hold us hostage for personal political gain or an extreme ideology which has only opinion and prejudice to bouy it's stance.

I support drilling in ANWR or anywhere else that we could drill to lower our prices at the pump. It is infuriating that you keep turning this down to keep us dependent on foreign sources. This comment has been reported to the site manager. It will be reviewed and removed if inappropriate. Thank you!

Can the so called intelligentsia that inhabit both houses of congress start acting in a manner that will serve the citizens of this great country, versus lining their pockets with graft. This comment has been reported to the site manager. It will be reviewed and removed if inappropriate. Thank you!
