It is absolutely ridiculous that we are paying 4 dollars a gallon because we are dependent on foreign oil when we could be using our own. This comment has been reported to the site manager. It will be reviewed and removed if inappropriate. Thank you!

Unless you have a better reason than environmental concerns, we should be drilling for our own oil. I’m tired of being held hostage by third world dictators who decide how much oil will be produced. The US is more than capable of providing the resources we require. With China using 40% of the available oil and their current direction politically and militarily, I’d think we would want to tap more of our own oil in the event we need it. Not wait till last minute like we usually do. Congress needs to re-address tying the hands of the US to be self supporting. This comment has been reported to the site manager. The world runs on oil. Alternative energy is a good idea, but we need oil right now in order to develop these sources. The Green lobby has done our country a world of good by forcing us to view things from various perspectives. However this is an emergency and I question the motives of the environmentalists at this time.
This is America - we can certainly drill in our wildlife preserves without leaving a footprint with present technology. And I certainly can't understand not drilling off the FL coast while China does! Given the quality of China's goods coming into this country, I would certainly trust American drilling over China.

Please put aside whatever agenda it is that is stopping drilling ANWR, and put the interest of the United States first. We also need to be able to build more refineries for the first time since the 1970s. Recovering out own oil in ANWR, the Gulf of Mexico, Colorado, Wyoming and Montana will also let the OPEC nations know they can't blackmail us any longer. This comment has been reported to the site manager. I would like for my congressmen to get off their behinds and get this passed. Although, I suspect their political position (particularly Casey's) will prohibit them from doing anything positive for the taxpayers in this country. Too much what's-in-it-for-me attitude going on in DC. Their primary focus seems to be coming up with new taxes and finding reasons to restrict the things we do.Of course if I were an illegal asking for something, they wouldn't be able to get to me fast enough.

As a believer in the free market approach, increasing the supply of a item will reduce the cost of that item. Therefore if we increase the supply of oil in the marketplace, the price of the oil will decrease. You know as well as I that, the oil companies are not the problem. YOU ARE! I don't want to hear any lofty ideals about alternative energy sources. That's a long term goal but, the short term solution is to begin American oil production ASAP. I drive 120 miles round trip to my job five days per week and the current gas prices are slamming me to the tune of $150-$160 every week. I work in the air freight industry and my job is greatly threatened by fuel cost. Politicians talk about energy independence but refuse to allow our own oil to be extracted and refined. We both know that this is the only way to lower gas prices. Bottom line; My vehicles run on GASOLINE. Public transportation is not an option and ride sharing is out as well. If the aircraft which I maintain cannot fly profitably then, I and my co-workers are screwed. Consider that middle class and low income people can't run right out and buy cutting edge hybrid vehicles, we're just trying to keep our family cars running to keep our families safe and avoid high car loan payments as long as we can. You're making it harder every day. Even maintenence costs are higher as a result of your failure to act on our behalf. Sincerely; This comment has been reported to the site manager. I, like a majority of americans are fed up with the idea of being at the mercy of unfreindly states for fuel. It is past time to rid ourselves of this dependence and drill to in the ANWAR province while developing new, more advanced forms of engergy. This is the United States of America; you and your congrssional colleges work for the citizens of the US, not the speacial interest groups and lobbyist.Drilling in ANWAR must be brought to vote and must pass. All congressmen/senators whom oppose this should have thier names posted and inform thier constituents of thier opposition.

I believe in energy conservation as well as alternative fuel research/development, however, at the same time we must continue to drill. This is not a single solution problem. If we are unwilling to drill in an area as remote as ANWR, then where would we be willing to drill? Regardless of where drilling takes place in this country, you can always find reasons to not disturb the area due to the wildlife or the beauty of the land. To become energy independent (from countries that want to destroy us), we must make some sacrifices.

I believe it is VERY important for our country to begin to exercise it's strength in technology and become energy independent. Drilling in ANWR should be pursued and I believe this initiative will lead to spin off technology and ADD JOBS!I also would like to make a statement regarding off shore drilling and possible mining for shale and gas deposits in various areas of this United States. This should also be allowed and supported by the House and Senate.
AS WELL, we NEED to increase the ability of our country to process oil through refineries or support growth in large terms at the current facilities.
If Brazil can become energy independent, why in the world has not the United States done so?????

Please join me in support of drilling in ANWR. We need to be self-sufficient and free of dependence on foreign oil! It's OK to seek alternative fuels, but we need to solve the problems that are here right now. Drilling ANWR will also cause OPEC to lower their prices now, which will help us out. We, the people, need relief from high gas prices. It is not the fault of the oil companies, but that of Congress' regulations that are causing our pain at the pump. Please dance with the ones that "brung you."This comment has been reported to the site manager. It will be reviewed and removed if inappropriate. Thank you!

I think it’s about time you elected politicians start earning your salaries & perks! (At the expense of tax payer dollars). You simply sit in Washington & form committees; have hearings & useless meetings, without really solving any problems of true significance to the American people. This oil crisis has been going on since the seventies & all our elected officials have done is turn a deaf ear & blind eye. The oil companies are in the business of finding & refining oil! Every time you have the oil companies come before a congressional hearing you constantly harp on the same issues without any resolution. The oil companies are not interested in alternative fuels otherwise they would not be in the oil business! You congress & the environmentalists stand in the way of our oil companies drilling & tapping into available oil in our own country that would make us totally independent from foreign oil. If you don’t find your spine we will all be in for chaos in this country you won’t believe.
We need to be doing the following:
• Drilling in ANWR
• Drill in Western North Dakota
• Drill in Western Pennsylvania
• Drill in Montana
• Green River Colorado Oil shale
• Drilling off our coast line
• Coal to oil conversion
If we resurrect the oil industry in this country it will provide a true stimulus to our country by creating all kinds of jobs (what a concept). This is what American tax payers want now, not lip service! Those of us on fixed incomes will not survive if this oil crisis is not addressed now! As it stands now it may already be too late for some of us!
You were elected into office to represent the people & I suggest you start doing it!

Please do not bow to the ridiculous environmental movement in this country and around the world.Allow The United States citizens access to our oil reserves. And send a clear message to the rest of the world that some day we may not need them. We are paying 4.79 a gallon for 87 octane fuel this is just unacceptable in this country. We have our own oil lets start using it.

It is absolutely insane that Congress has not taken immediate action to drill not only in ANWR, but off our coast in the outer continental shelf for oil and natural gas and to have immediate construction on nuclear power plants. In addition, a guarantee should be set for a minimun floor for each gallon of gas produced from coal gassification (which I understand needs to be the approximate equilivant of $50-$55 price per barrel of oil). In addition, you should provide oil companies with incentives to build new refineries at geographically diverse locations so that we are somewhat protected from natural disasters. Finally, laws should be passed so that all regulatory and enviromental delays are circumvented. We are in an emergency situation and you need to respond accordingly. I realize that the do-nothing democrat leadership and blame Republicans statergy is not likely to change until we are in a dire situation but Mrs. Dole and Mr Brad Miller are up for reelection this year and Mr. Burr will be in two years. I can assure you that until I see immediate and substantive action on your part, regardless of any party leadership positions and actions, I will be working as actively and in any way I can to unseat you. I am particularly incensed by Mrs. Dole's and Mr. Walter Jones's actions to stop drilling for natural gas off the NC coast. Keep up the same actions with no vision and leadership and we'll see if we can't get someone new.
Finally, you need to take immediate action to reverse all actions which Congress has taken to support ethonal production. You are wrecking food production in the name of an inefficient energy substitute. As ususal when Congress gets involved the situation gets worse.

We need to go after out own supply. Increased supply is the only thing that is going to realistically drive down the price of oil. A tax holiday is only going to increase demand which will lead to a rise in the base price. We need to look at the obvious real solution of increasing supply and start thinking about what's in the best interest of the country instead of what environmentalists want from us. They are not the population as a whole. The laws of economics don't care what party you belong to. Supply and demand determine pricing. This comment has been reported to the site manager. There are no legitimate reasons not to responsibly exploit our own natural resources and explore for more natural resource deposits worldwide given the fact that we are supporting governments that subsidize opponents to our freedoms and oppress their own people by purchasing their oil.I also believe that we should continue a concerted effort to pursue renewable and alternative energy sources that do not put unnecessary pressure on world food supplies with a sense of urgency. Hemp cultivation should be legalized and regulated because it is the most viable and productive source for biofuels and other bi-products that could also benefit the small farmers throughout the country (I do not support the legalization of marijuana for anything except medically prescribed treatment). This would create a huge revenue base for the country while promoting a cleaner environment.
I would encourage you to expand nuclear power production immediately because it is the only option there will be when the oil field dry up! Anyone who does not understand that better enjoy rubbing sticks together to keep warm.
I would suggest diverting a substantial portion of NASA's budget and resources to those issues until some viable solutions are implemented. I am more concerned with solving immediate issues on this planet than setting billions of our dollars aflame to find that "oasis" in space that is not out there!

Not only do I believe that it is imperative to this countries security to open ANWR to drilling for oil, we also need to do the same for all of our offshore reserves and the western shale oil. Doing this will allow us to lessen or end our dependence on OPEC oil, while providing a bridge to the future, which hopefully will be alternative and cleaner energy sources. Without taking this step we are dooming this country to a self-inflicted economic catastrophe, for which the Congress will be responsible for. This comment has been reported to the site manager. Please stand up to those in Washington who would have us subservient to all of Europe and the Middle East! This comment has been reported to the site manager. Also, please approve drilling in all coastal areas. It is crazy that we are not using our own resources and that we are voluntarily remaining at the mercy of unfriendly countries. It is an absolute tragic disgrace that we have such a potentially large supply of oil that could provide millions of barrels per day and yet we continue to bemoan $4.00/gallon gas and $130 per barrell oil. Shame on us when this oil could be taken in a way that is ecologically friendly and would hardly impact this desolate/barren area!!!This comment has been reported to the site manager. I have had it up to HERE with the whining and moaning that we are dependent on OPEC and other countries - while we LOOK at the cuffs we snapped on ourselves and cry and grovel as we lovingly pat the cuff keys right on our pocket!! It's insanity!!Drill NOW - and pursue alternatives in addition..
but: DRILL NOW
Thank You.

Stop killing the poor and the children of the world. Provide them with a cheap source of energy by drilling in ANWR. If we can find alternative sources of energy as well, fantastic. But in the meantime, STICK WITH WHAT WE KNOW TO WORK. Think about it. Use the wheel while you try to reinvent it. If you don't, the blood of those poor and children will be on YOUR HANDS!This comment has been reported to the site manager. It will be reviewed and removed if inappropriate. Thank you!

I think each and everyone of you are nothing more than a bunch of IDIOTS!!There are other countries drilling off both of our coasts and in the gulf and
all of you are doing all that is possible to stop us from drilling for our own oil.
Why are you doing this to us?
There is no way I can find myself voting for anyone of you who are doing all
you can to kill this great country. You all everyone of you make me sick and
ashamed for you because you arenot smart enough to know what the people
of this country really think of you.
It is not because of the President .It's because you don't have the backbone
to do the right thing for this country.

It's way past time to drill; I'm tired of hearing the crying about high oil prices when we sit on a vast reserve that we can't touch because of environmental wackos. Had we drilled in ANWAR and the Gulf ten years ago all of the oil would be on line right now and we wouldn't be depending on people who want to destroy us for our fuel. WAKE UP AMERICA! We need to drill and build refineries. As soon as we announce the opening of ANWAR you will see the price of oil drop. This comment has been reported to the site manager. DRILL NOW!!! America cannot afford to wait any longer. All this extra money going into ourvehicle's gas tanks is a huge burden on families and our economy. More money for gasoline-less
we can spend to boost the economy-less we can save for our children's education-less we can save for retirement. Just how expensive does gasoline have to get before America takes action. Drill for our own oil-Please, don't wait another day.

Quit making the same mistakes over and over. Start drilling anywhere there is oil. Quit out- sourcing jobs and importing a product we can provide for ourselves. The oil companies are not our enemies. The oil companies provide many very good jobs with benefits for many americans. They are a good source for investments in our 401's which provide more income for my retirement than the "beer and peanuts pocket change" called social security. It is time for real and meaningful change for all americans & illegal aliens ( NO amnesty). Start thinking of the middle class , the poor and the young who are trying to get a start in life and work towards the american dream. This comment has been reported to the site manager. there are no legitimate reasons to not responsibly exploit our own natural resources and explore for more natural resource deposits worldwide given the fact that we are supporting governments that subsidize opponents to our freedoms. I also believe that we should continue a concerted effort to pursue renewable and alternative energy sources that do not put unnecessary pressure on world food supplies with a sense of urgency.I would suggest diverting a substantial portion of NASA's budget and resources to those issues until some viable solutions are implemented.

When is someone going to help the American people? The price of oil will cripple this country if someone doesn't step up to the plate and get the ball rolling to start drilling in Anwar, the Gulf and or continental shelves. We the people, can no longer afford to depend on foreign countries for oil and expect our elected officials to do something about it!!!!

The Democrat's ran, in the last national election, with promises to control gasoline prices. As usual, they failed to keep this promise, along with the others they made. If they would really serve the people of this nation, they will enact legislation that will help the people, the economy, and their own tarnished reputation, by DEMANDING oil drilling in the oil reserves that are already known to exist in the United States. This comment has been reported to the site manager. To Whom This May Concern,It's time that we ( The U.S.A. ) start to use not only our own resourses, like Anwr, Colorado, And off of our own coast, but we need to expand our capability to refine the crude that we're already taking in. We're in need of more refineries and less envirenmental intervention. We also need to develope different types of energy sourses, but not before we stabilize and use what enery ( oil ) is already at our own finger tips.

I cannot believe the irony in Sen. Harry Reid's statement that we " cannot drill our way out" when he spoke last week. That is EXACTLY what we must do! The sheer STUPIDITY of allowing China and Cuba to drill off our coasts when we will not allow ourselves to is overwhelming. The notion that drilling in ANWR will forever ruin Alaska is about as true as when cutting the trees would sound the death knell of the Spotted Owl (which is doing better than ever!) or that the Alaska Pipeline would decimate the Carribou populations (which LOVE the pipeline for it's warmth!) WE NEED TO DRILL NOW! The American Public is not the simple idiots you think we are! We understand economics, supply, and demand! We will hold you accountable with our votes! This comment has been reported to the site manager. It will be reviewed and removed if inappropriate. Thank you!

The only way for the US to become energy independant is to use our own resources. We can drill for our own oil and allow the states to profit from the production. Oil prices will go down, and jobs will be created.I can't understand how the congress is not allowing us to take advantage of the rich resources that we have been blessed with. We need to drill, and we need to refine.
Congress, get off of your ass and do something worthwhile.

We need to stand up and DEMAND cooperation from all in opening up our oil sources. Congress has played footsie far too long with the environmental wackos in stopping us from accessing the oil that is ours and that we so rightly deserve. I don't understand what exactly they are waiting for; the entire economy to shut down, truckers to stop rolling, food not making it to our stores and on and on and on.It is time now; open the spigots!

United we will stand or divided we must fall. Do you realize how many other countries are drilling for oil off OUR coasts? ( China, Nigeria, Russians ) Don't let the enviromentalist-wackos beat us to death with our own virtue. With our having to import 60% of our oil when in reality we have all the oil and energy reserves ( coal, tar sands etc ) we need right here; This is an egregious betrayal of the American people held hostage to OPEC. We are leaving ourselves open to economic and military attack by not assuring our nations supply of oil!!! Like it or not the world runs on oil and nothing can do the heavy lifting of this energy source currently. Knee jerk reactions to this problem like the ethanol solution has only created more problems, FOOD SHORTAGES, Higher food prices and another government bureacrasy. WE HAVE THE RESOURCES HERE IN THE UNITED STATES FOR ENERGY INDEPEDENCE. FOR GODS SAKE LETS USE THEM!!!!!!!!!!! PS: While we're at it why don't we surrender our economic and natioinal sovereignty to a global entity that would effectively bankrupt what's left of our economy. The cycles of GLOBAL WARMING and COOLING are order of themselves and have continued since time inmemorium. THINK-THINK-THINK before you act and REMEMBER-REMEMBER- 20 years ago it was GLOBAL COOLING. We did NOTHING then. Nor should we NOW. MY GOD CONSIDER THE IMPLICATIONS THAT YOUR IRRECONCILABE LEGISLATION MAY PORTEND!!!!!!This comment has been reported to the site manager. In today's trying times, it is hard to believe any politician has the best interest of the people in mind. This country is being over run with illegal aliens that the working class Americans are supporting and I for one am sick and tired of my hard earned tax dollars going for people who care nothing about this country and are milking us dry! All of our tax dollars are thrown out to support everybody else, and now we can't drill for our own oil!!! Who cares about the Carabou in the frozen tundra of Alaska when we are all struggling to survive, can't afford to drive to work or heat our homes! Where is your tax base going to go now? I for one want answers! It will be very hard for me to vote, when at this point nobody has earned my trust! Every politician is out for political gain, who cares about the middle class. What a shame that it has come to this.... Wonder how many more Americans feel the same! This comment has been reported to the site manager. It will be reviewed and removed if inappropriate. Thank you!
