  1. Congress continues to provide with nothing but LIP SERVICE. Talk is cheap and the American People have had enough! Congress has made up its mind to try anything but the obvious! It's time to march on Washington and demand that they begin drilling in ANWR!

  3. Enough is enough. We need to be oil-independent, and we can be, if we develop the resources within our own country. We need oil. The drilling can be done w/o harm to the environment and should be started immediately.

  5. The only solution for the current energy price crisis is to open drilling in anwr and the continental shelves. If they voted to open these areas to drilling today, the price of oil would start to go lower today. We also must open some new refineries. Any alternatives that come along will be wonderful but they can't be legislated or bought. Plenty of individuals and companies are trying to come up with alternatives and they will come in time. In the mean time we need oil!

  7. This should have been done 10 years ago. We would not be paying almost 4 dollars a gallon. This affects our entire way of life. If the rest of the world is always waiting on America to help when there is some disaster, they better let us keep producing and paying most of our income to taxes that are funneled to every country in the world. If they are going to have their hand out they better be quiet about our oil comsumption.

  9. Dear Sirs,
I would like to state that we need to drill for our own oil to alleviate
the drain on our economy and to bolster our national security. It is
inperitive that we no longer rely on foreign oil. It`s time that politicians
in this country act on the wishes of the citizens of this country.

    Thank You,
    Mark Tousley

  11. Try as we may to think of reasons our Congress feels it best to be held hostage to foreign oil dictators rather than to use our own resources and be free and we can't think of one. Unless our Congress is actually trying to bring down our own country. Really - are you all actually THINKING??? Please consider the citizens of our brave land for a change and vote to continue on as an Independent Nation, using our own oil and resources, continuing to generate wealth so we remain in a position to help others. We will be watching your votes on this issue. If you can't vote for us - we can't vote for you.

PLEASE VOTE TO DRILL AND EXPLORE OUR LAND.

  13. U.S. oil reserves, why are we not drilling more? Since when do Americans stand by and rely on other countries? Americans let England have it at the Boston Tea Party for the opression and taxes on tea! So, why are our elected officials standing by and allowing OPEC to oppress this country again? Were we not founded by the men and women who died to set us free? The freedom earned by our forefathers and the reason our men and women fight today is for FREEDOM. This freedom doesn't mean put your people at the mercy of those who want to kill us, steal from us, and ultimately do away with what America stands for. Our government officials need to stand up and be heard. Fight back! Let drilling in America start!

  15. I support responsible drilling in our country's oil rich areas. I would like to see legislation for environmentally responsible drilling in ANWR, the coast of FL, and other oil rich areas in the US. There is already drilling being done in the arctic in Sweden and Russia, why can't we do the same?

  21. If we don't drill an ANWR some other country will at some point in the future. When the supplies in the Mid-East run out, Alaska will be attacked and the oil will be taken out of the ground anyway. The environment stands a better chance of being protected if Americans drill for the oil.

  27. The people of Ohio elected you to do the will of the voters you serve, not the radical enviormentalists. We are sick to death of arrogant elected officials bowing to the wishes of those who would finance the campaigns of their toadies.

We demand that you, our elected officials, stop promoting this global warming nonsense and start drilling in Anwar and offshore. Yes, continue searching for alternate energy sources but until that time comes, begin drilling for the resources we already have. Stop depending on the whims of foreign countries. Also stop these ridiculous designer blends of gasoline and using corn for ethanol.

The American people are not going to take it any longer. If you continue to refuse to listen to the American people—the voters of Ohio and across this nation will rise up and remove you from office.

You have pushed us too far and we will not take it any longer. Had Washington taken the necessary steps years ago, we would not be in this position. START NOW!

  29. The answer to stabilizing America's gas prices lies in simultaneous drilling & refining of new oil (i.e. American oil), and the development of other fuels that may generate enough energy to sustain our needs. At this point there is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING that can supply the U.S. with the BTUs necessary to run our daily operations.

Inflation will continue to soar if drilling, refining, and REPEATING, is not put into effect immediately across all of the oil fields present in our own country!!

  31. Building several refineries and tapping various wells throughout the U.S. to be rented to oil companies would be the way to go. This way, the oil companies won't take a financial hit if they begin drilling and refining and the price of oil would drop, were that to happen, they would cease operations and mothball the wells and refineries until the price rises again. The rent procedes would go to eliminate the taxes at the pump.

It's similar to having our ICBM bases. They are there in the event of bad situations arrising. This would bring balance to the oil economy.

  41. I support developing alternative fuels; however, that cannot be accomplished in the short run. We need to become energy independent now and have the resources to do so without negiatively affecting the environment, including the polar bears.

Biofuels are also a possibility, but when it takes as much energy to process a biofuel (corn) as it contributes, that is not a responsible energy use. It is irresponsible to support a cause that does not accomplish the goal set for that cause. It would be wiser to use those resources to develop biofuels that work, similar to what was done with sugarcane. I know we do not have a large sugarcane lobby in America, but for once put the interests of America ahead of your own political and wealth ambitions.

Further, our number one priority should be national security and energy independence is an important step to achieving national security. The most efficient method to achieve that goal is to drill for oil in our own country, including in Alaska.

  49. So now, Congress will hold hearings with the oil company executives. We will witness great performances by our elected representatives exhorting these executives that somehow the oil companies are at fault for high prices that are set in the market. I can see the lengthy showboating speeches now.

When will Congress realize the folly of not building a refinery in the last 30 years and reducing our domestic capacity further by prohibiting drilling for the oil on land we already own?

God spare us the pandering. Do something!

  55. It is time for America to become energy independent. To do this we must utilize the resources we have while advancing alternatives. Burning food as fuel isn't a viable alternative. ANWR can be drilled without affecting wildlife. The continental shelves can be drilled safely with new spill prevention technology. Coal and oil shales can be utilized cleanly with clean technologies already in use in other countries. This country runs on oil. Not just for fuel but also for plastics and chemicals which we derive from petroleum. We cannot allow our enemies to attack us economically by reducing our access to raw materials. Thank you for your consideration of this matter.

Please Please stop listening to the radical environmentalists. Please build and reopen refineries so that we can increase our own oil supply. Also, stop listening to the global warming hoax.

  59. It is time for you, in the U.S. congress to listen to the American people that you are supposed to represent. We want you to drill now for the future. You must put your political agendas aside and do what is right for the whole country. It is also time for us to begin the transition to Nuclear Energy! If it is truly the environment you are concerned with, you would already be actively pursuing this option. Stop waisting my hard earned dollars and drill now, for it is you that will be held accountable.

I know we need to progress with oil alternatives but we need to drill and refine while these technologies are being developed. I am a registered Democrat and if gas prices continue on teir prsent course, I will not forget them come election time. nor will my entire family.

  67. I as an american citizen demand that both parties work together and do what is right for all of the american people.
These gas prices are a national concern. I feel like i'm living to pay my mortgage, heating bill, food, and gasoline to get to and from work. Nothing else is left from my pay check.
We need to drill in our own Country. Enough of this fighting back and fourth between parties. This is for the needs of our own people and all of you in office don't do anything about it. Yes we need to research other methods of fuels and so on but that does not solve this problem right now and both parties need to stop the bickering and do what they were elected to do and that is to represent the people of THIS COUNTRY.

  69. Common Sense, anyone ever hear of it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
World oil supply goes up and it causes 300 million Americans double this year for the gas they couldn't even afford last year. It takes food off of Americans tables because..... You have to get to work to have money for food BUT you must use your food money to fill you tank so you can make enough to buy food that you can't afford because you need gas to get to work???? What kind of sense does that make????? The American people need some help!!!!
The people "WE" gave jobs to (elected officials) could help but they will not it's not that they can't THEY WON'T and it boils down to this... Americans starving and struggeling to survive.... or.... Save a tree??? Bottom line: your elected officials, the people you put in to office, the people you thought would "look out for you" when you went to the polls care more about a TREE then YOU???

    The PLAN
    Stop The Bleeding first!
#1. Drill anywhere there is oil to relieve the stress on the American People!
#2. Build a refinery or 2, we have closed many military bases that are just sitting there growing weeds. Use the land to build a refinery. Do it for the American people!
#3. When OPEC hears that we don't need their product any more ......THE PRICE OF A BARREL OF OIL DROPS TO A REALISTIC LEVEL (maybe overnight). Do it for the American people!
#4 Building refineries and drilling for Oil (in America) creates American Jobs? Do it for the American People!

    Long term fix! Energy Independence!!!!
#1. Keep pumping oil because necessary, it's our most viable resource. Do it for the American People!
#2. Research and develop alternitive energy that works and is a good addition (not replacement) for oil. Do it for the American People!
#3. If some day we find the right alternitive energy (to replace oil) that's GREAT..... You can always stop drilling and plant a tree????

This is called COMMON SENSE!!!!! Let's try to USE IT!

P.S. Spygate and Steriods in Sports is a much bigger problem then 300 Million Americans struggeling, GREAT WORK!!!!!

I HAVE WORKED AND BEEN AROUND THE OIL FIELDS IN KENTUCKY AND IT IS A SAD STATEMENT TO THE WORLD THAT WE HAVE OIL AND GAS BUT WOULD RATHER PAY OTHER COUNTRIES AND BE OWNED BY THEM BECAUSE OF STUPID LAWS THAT PROHIBIT US (united states) FROM USING OUR OWN RESOURCES. I SAY DRILL AND DRILL EVERYWHERE WE CAN. RESPONSIBLE COMPANIES CAN AND WILL DO THE RIGHT THING. REMOVE THE OBSTACLES AND RECLAIM OUR PLACE AS THE WORLDS STRONGEST AND MOST RESOURCEFUL COUNTRY
THIS IS SOMETHING THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN DONE IN THE 80's AND 90's WHEN OIL COMPANIES HERE IN KENTUCKY WERE GETTING $12 TO $14 A BARREL AND WE WERE PAYING FOR OVERSEAS OIL OVER $25 A BARREL

  75. Our great country is just about at the tipping point where the vast majority of Americans will have absolutely no trust or confidence in our Federal Government. I'm talikng about sensible Democrats and Republicans uniting to stop the wasteful spending, bickering, grandstanding and catering to special interest groups. I am sick and tired of watching the news, only to see each side attacking each other about the stupidest things. If I see another politician get in front of Congress and demand an apoligy for something the other side said, I think I may just wash my hands of all of you! You all have become so spineless; I'm surprised you can stand straight.

Now here comes the common sense. Are you ready? DRILL FOR OIL! There is no energy source now or in the near future that will replace oil! BUILD REFINERIES! Drop your ego and do what is right for us....YOUR CONSTITUENTS!

And let us build as many refineries as possible. Let's be the "Can Do" country
we used to be instead of the "Can't Do" that we're turning into.
Let's drill for our own oil. It's all we have for now. Let private
industry work on developing alternative fuels, but until we get to
that point let's use what we have in our lands. We know how to drill
efficiently and cleaner than ever before. Let's let America stand on our own

  81. 15 Years ago you told us it was not worth drilling in Anwar because we would not see the oil for 10 years. If we start drilling in Anwar and elsewhere you will see an immediate drop in the price of oil and in the long run it will make us much more energy independent. This can be done without destroying the environment but only if our representatives have the stomach to care enough about the people they are suppose to represent instead of special interest who don't care about America's future or worse are profiting at the peoples great expense. For God's sake do something!!!

Anyone who votes against this should be thrown out of office. And we don't need the corn crops to run our cars. We need corn to feed people. I hope Sen. Brown, Sen Voinovich, Rep. My buisness had to close partially because of high oil & gas prices. If our Senators & congressmen & women don't allow this they are demonstraing their contempt for the American people. Most of our Senators & congressmen have no clue about living in the REAL AMERICA because they have been insulated their entire lives with silver spoons in their mouths. They don't know about high gas prices because they don't have to buy their own gas. They don't know what it's like to have more month at the end of the money

  91. I wish to express my outrage that we are not allowing ourselves to utilize our own resources to asuage the suffering of our people. It is apparent to me that the politicians in Washington care more about the money they receive from the Environmentalists then the people they serve. We should be drilling for oil and building refineries. While I agree in the researching and development of alternative fuels I also live in the here and now, every car and truck going down the road uses oil, we all heat our homes with oil, oil is the fuel for the engine that is America and without it we will suffer and eventually expire. Stop being in the back pocket of the Environmentalists and let us utilize the resources we have in this great nation!! We all know that drilling will not destroy the environment as you so foolishly think we, the great unwashed believe. You politicians are not the be all you think you are. Your careers can be ended, by the people who elected you, continue on this path and you will be unemployed very soon.

Not to take this action will only confirm that we taxpayers are not your primary concern.

  103. Economics was taught to me in highschool. There I learned the basic rule of commerce which was called supply and demand. The law of economics applied in this case: The demand for petroleum has risen, and without a commensurate rise in supply the bidding process for the raw oil made available above ground will raise the price. Today the price of a barrel of oil is below but approaching the price for an ounce of gold! If we increase the supply, the price will drop to the level where it is not economically feasible to drill and supply. The price should be expected to drop 75%.

I was not taught in economics that corrupt corporations raised the price of commodies, only a high demand and a low supply.

  105. To my three democrat representatives. China can drill for oil in the Gulf of Mexico. We wouldn't have to be involved in the middle east to the degree that we are if we could supply our own energy. Why be dependent on foreign entities????

Voting down drilling in Anwr was a treasonous act as you are sworn to defend and protect the USA and uphold its Constitution. Drill in Anwr. It is a tiny footprint in a vast wilderness. Also get those nuclear plants started. Since when did we take a back seat to France?

For once do something for your country instead of your own bottom line or to appease Greenies. By the way required for all Senators and Representatives should be a screening of "Mr. Deeds Goes to Washington".

  107. Also, there are already many wells throuhout the U.S. that were drilled after the oil crisis in the late '70's. These wells were later capped when the price of oil fell. Many are still sitting unused today. Another large source of American oil can be found on Alaska North Slope and off America's coastline. Some of these reources are being used, but nealy to their full potential.

  109. It's time to put the American people ahead of your personnal ambitions. The natural resources of this country belong to the people not special interests. Do what you were elected to do - defend our constitution and protect the interests of our nation and it's people.

The people in this country should not be subservient to any government (including our own), special interest group or individual.

  111. Its about time you lazy overpaid buearacrats got off your lazy butts, told OPEC to take a hike, told the enviroweenies to shut the hell up and start drilling FOR OUR OWN OIL. Drill in ANWAR, drill in JERSEY and OFF SHORE OF FLORIDA. Drill in the Dakotas, and open back up the FIELDS in TEXAS OKLAHOMA AND LOUISANA. And one more thing from a REAGAN REPUBLICAN, QUIT SENDING OUR ALASKAN OIL TO CHINA.

  115. It's time for Congress to pass an energy bill which actually enables the US companies to 'create' energy and not just ban incandescent light bulbs and mandatory mileage standards. Let the market work. The market, not government, will fix the problems we face.

  119. To the Congress of the United States,
Enough is enough! It is time to drill Alaska. If we have the technology to drill an oilwell within 200 feet of my water well and keep the water safe I think we can punch a few holes in the ground in Alaska without wrecking the environment.
Once we head there we need to perfect coal to oil.

  121. Plese you must allow drilling in ANWR. The price of gas is going to cripple our economy and the alternatives are not worth using at this point. Ethonol uses more fuel to produce than it replaces, only gives us 75% of the milelege per gallon that gasoline does in our vehicles, and is driving the price of food through the roof.

I'm all for finding alternatives to oil, however we need to bring the price down on gasoline so we can survive until more efficient alternatives can be developed and the only way to do that is to allow the gas companies build new refineries and develop domestic drilling areas...

  127. I want to know why the U.S. Congress WANTS us enslaved to foreign oil and to the slave owners of the white socialist Democrats in Congress who favor America's downfall? Furthermore, the oil reserves in this nation are ours, provided by God Himself, and we have not only every right, we have a responsiblity to drill it. You in Congress don't give a darn because you are the WEALTHY that you consistently rail against; but we see through your treason and greed. Drill now, or there will be a revolution in this land. What's more, I personally have over 3,000 committed souls who will be networking throughout all their contacts nation wide to DEFEAT every opponent to Amierca's drilling our own oil reserves. Alternative energy is a joke! Congress: HEAR US. WE ARE ANGRY AND GETTING PRETTY DARN TIRED OF YOUR GREED, LUST FOR POWER, MARKIST IDEOLOGY, AND ARROGANCE. If you don't want to see the streets of Washington, D.C. and your home neighborhoods torn assundered by our rage, I would suggest that you act now to begin drilling our reserves. One other note. If you want to influence the international players in all this--anounce that we are beginning to drill our own reserves and build more refinaries, and nuclear plants--and watch the price of oil plummet!

  129. It is about time we start using our own resources and creating American jobs by drilling for our own oil. It will benifit everyone. It will lower gas prices, provide American jobs which you insist you support and the work will go on in an area so remote no one will be disturbed.

DRILL wherever we have oil. PERIOD before we give another dollar to another country. If Bill Clinton would not have vetoed ANWAR 12 years ago we would be enjoying the results today. Since we dropped the ball yesterday the best we can do is pick it up today. LETS DO IT!

  131. We should and can be virtually independent of the foreign oil markets. We have vast oil reserves at our disposal in the USA. I am in favor of developing alternative energy sources but this is a long range goal, not an immediate answer. To jump in head first with unproven and ineffective methods such as ethanol is damaging our economy. It makes absolutely no sense that we are burning our corn and driving up the food and related costs for Americans. This is extremely irresponsible and will cause long term damage to our society. Modern extration of oil leaves a very small footprint as well as provides jobs for Americans. Please enlighten your colleagues with the knowledge that we can:
    • safely extract oil while protecting our environment
    • keep our economy thriving
    • provide jobs for Americans
    • allow American ingenuity to come up with ‘viable’ energy alternatives

  139. As the economies of two thirds of the world’s population continue to expand at high rates (i.e. China and India), their standard of living and thirst for modern convenience (i.e. Automobiles) will continue to rise leading to an exponential rise in demand for oil. To put this in perspective, we as Americans have a very small percentage of the world’s population and a large percentage of the world's automobiles. What happens when a large percentage of the population wants a large share of the automobiles? Intuitively, demand will continue to increase and increase and increase.... And despite our best intentions as good citizens, we will not be able to stem this tide. It is much larger than just us. As basic economic principles have taught us, as demand increases, so does price, thus the cost of gas will continue to increase.

This will happen in far less time than it will take to develop and adopt long term alternatives to fossil fuels. It is imperative that we develop domestic capacity for producing and refining oil to maintain this countries productivity, continued viable growth and maintain our successful competitive position (in all walks of American life) in the world. It has been shown that the environmental impact by responsible developers is so slight (and in cases like the Alaska pipeline - beneficial), that environmental arguments against drilling and refining are completely invalid and serve no value added purpose.

I urgently implore all of our public officials - Of Both Parties!!!! - To back the exploration and development of increased capacity to produce crude oil and increased capacity to refine crude oils into consumable products. This is the only way to insure that Americans will be able to sustain our standard of living and provide for the futures of our children and grandchildren.

  141. I firmly believe that drilling in ANWR would create more jobs and wealth for the U.S. economy, while adding less wealth to the coffers of our enemies around the world.

The US has ample natural resources to sustain ourselves for years to come. We must use our natural resources to the best of our abilities. This includes stopping farmer subsidies to get them working. This will create more corn and soy to further the science of ethynol. As it stands today, ethynol is not a viable solution.

  149. We know that this country of our the United States of America, for those who don't remember, have the resources and the technical ability bring oil to the surface without disrupting the environment. Your job is to represent us and I want you to vote for those bills that support drilling in ANVR. I do hope understand, because we are not blind to what is happening around us, and we can see very clearly those who are for the people and those who are for themselves with a agenda to bring down our wonderful country and make us a third world nation. My vote may one, but at lease it going to the person who is true to the constitution of this country- USA.

  153. What is the point of finding new sources of energy when we don't make use of the known energy we already have? Ethanol was supposedly the golden calf of renewable energy. Now the masses are finding out what some of us knew before...it solves nothing in fact it makes the problem worse. Get out of the way and let the free market work.
