The success and safety record of the "Alaska Pipeline," especially considering that our technology now is much improved over the time of that installation, makes opening of ANWR a "NO BRAINER!" DO IT NOW!This comment has been reported to the site manager. It will be reviewed and removed if inappropriate. Thank you!

I paid over $40 to fill up my gas tank yesterday, and that is my money that is going into the pockets of the Middle East. How much longer are we going to wait?We have the resources because Someone encouraged Mr. Seward to encourage Congress to buy an icebox nearly 150 years ago because that Someone knew what was eventually going to happen. He's alot smarter than any of us. Russia probably is kicking themselves for not holding on to this very important piece of real estate. What needs to be done should be as clear as the noses on your faces.
Please act on this very important issue quickly! America is being hogtied by the Middle East and by neglecting to act, Congress is allowing them to control our economy.

Open ANWR it's the only solution to our crazy gas prices. Not to mention that fact that it is OUR oil and we are entitled to drill when its necessary. It IS necessary!! So please support it, it's only a matter of time until we get what we want with your help or not. We will march on Washington and weed out the weasels in our government. It's time for the corrupt to step aside and make way for "the people" to rule. Last time I checked we were still a democracy right? This comment has been reported to the site manager. Regardless of how you all in DC look at us ordinary US citizens, there are many of us out here who fully understand the rediculousness of your inactions towards sound energy policies, and the ramifications the lack of them are having upon our economy at this time. How could so many people with so much power sit and do absolutely nothing for so long??? I am a life-long conservative, and while I disagree with basically everything the democrats and liberals are talking about these days, it is my own President Bush whom I am most disappointed with. It is a shame, and embarassing that the lack of action by this congress and this president would take us so far down this road of energy dependence upon such volatile places as the middle east and south america. This great country should be leading the world, not begging at the palace steps of a kingdom in saudi arabia for lower oil prices. Again I say, how completely rediculous!! Us ordinary US citizens also understand basic economics, and that right now more than anything, we need to increase the supply of oil to the world, so please, do whatever it takes to begin the process of allowing this country to explore for and acquire our own natural resources. Please drill in ANWR!!!!!! I am all for the search for alternative energy to help power this nation and the world for someday in the future, but we ordinary citizens need to be able to live today, and it is shameful that a solvable problem has been allowed to dig so deep into our budgets and lives. Quit living in the past and put your silly politics aside, and please go back to work for us!!!!!This comment has been reported to the site manager. It will be reviewed and removed if inappropriate. It is high time you stop pandering to the Enviromentalists and begin to watch out for thr good of the people of this great nation. Oil is the Mother's Milk of freedom. Alternative fuels aren't here yet and ethanol doesn't produce the BTUs of oil. Support Freedom and allow this economy explode in reduction of taxes, reductin of regulation and the production of fuel to run the economy. This comment has been reported to the site manager. The other nations of the world are drilling their own oil while we buy expensive oil from overseas. You fill our strategic reserve with expensive oil from overseas. The environmental whackos and cloistered academics have compromised our nation. Leaders who are opposed to drilling in ANWR are driving this nation toward a dangerous precipice. We are not lemmings. We want you to represent us and this great nation. If you cannot then get out of office! I will do what I can to make sure you are voted out if you don't support drilling for our oil. We can drill for oil and develop alternative energy sources cleanly, simultaneously and responsibly. This comment has been reported to the site manager. Dear Congress,As a manager of a business, I understand that sometimes it is difficult to make what could be considered by some as controversial decisions. Every day I need to evaluate the facts of a situation and act upon what I feel to be in the best interest of the company I work for. You, as elected representatives of the people, are in the same situation.
I plead with you to reach across the aisle and come to an agreement in regards to utilizing the natural resources of our own country to benefit Americans. I am an environmental scientist and I do not agree with the theory that drilling for oil will cause un-mitigating damage to the environment. Last time I checked, we are speaking of the 21st century with all types of advancements to prevent damage to the surronding environment.
You need to look at the American people. Really look at them! How do you expect the average American household to keep up with the rising cost of fuel? I am certain that it is not hitting your wallets in the way that it is affecting the average American. It is not only the cost of gasoline that is of concern. Spring is here - so the cost of heating a home has fallen out of the media spotlight; but what will be the cost of fuel oil or natural gas next year? How do you expect senior citizens to pay to heat their homes? The price of food is increasing due to high fuel costs and the use of corn to develop fuel alternatives.
How high does the cost of oil need to get to before your act? I think reaching the record mark of $130/barrel is more than enough. Stop playing party politics and pandering to environmental lobbyist groups. You need to do what you were sent to Washington for in the first place - PROTECT & HELP THE AMERICAN PEOPLE! The American people and the economy are suffering.
I am fortunate that my family at this time has the resources to pay our heat bill and pay for our gas. Unfortunately, the merchants where I would be spending my 'disposable' income are suffering. The extra money that I would have to go out to dinner or to the movies, to buy a game or go on a trip are now going to pay for oil, whether it be fuel oil or gasoline. I can't see it being any different for other American families.
Thank you for your time and consideration. My family is begging you to do something to help America - allow Americans to tap into their own supply of natural resources so we do not have to rely on the Middle East anymore.

When this country is being raked over by OPEC why in Gods name can the democrats who supposedly support this country put there politics ahead of what's good for the country and people they represent. Our wealth is going overseas while our politicians sit back at the expense of the people they represent. Get off the politics and think about the country and the people you represent. Let's tap into our natural resources while we explore and develop alternative energy sources. This comment has been reported to the site manager. It will be reviewed and removed if inappropriate. If President Clinton didn't veto the previous bill in the early 90s to allow drilling in ANWAR we would not be in this situation. We need not be dependant on our enemies for oil. If you had allowed exploration and drilling, we would have leverage among the Middle East. I would imagine in over the 30 years since a refinery was built, there are eco-friendly methods of drilling. Congress has the ball chains of the environMENTALists around its neck trying to implement a Marxist regime using energy conservation as its Trojan horse.Unfortunately, today we are not oil-free and today we need oil. It's a fact, this economy is based on oil and you are killing us, the American people.

Senator Casey, Senator Spector and Conrgressman Altmire:Not only should we immediately authorize drilling in the Artic National Wildlife Reserve, our significant oil resereves in our coastal waters need to be included. Alternative energy sources take time, nuclear energy being my first choice, but until these can be developed, use our country's plentiful natural resources. Stop this insane policy of supporting our enemies by purchasing their oil. Manufacturing ethanol is a poorly planned policy; it doesn't work! And quit crying about global warming; it's not happening. Let the marxistsat the UN fund their own projects and have the US exit that group as soon as possible. Do you representatives really work for your constituents? It appears you only work for your paycheck and how to stay in office which translates to power. If Congress would simply announce an oil drilling plan in the US, prices would fall immediately. Follow that with action and within a few years, the middle east denizens will be back living in tents where they belong. If not, your countrymen will be living in a third world country.

We as American citizens demand that you authorize the use of the natural resourses that belong to us, the American people. You have allowed the enviormental marxist to denie us whatGod put on this Earth for us to use. You people in Congress and The Senate can't be that dumb not to realize that oil isn't just about gasoline. Oil is used in almost everything we touch. There simply is no equal substitute. China is drilling in the gulf of Mexico. Why can't we? What is it going to take for you Demacrats to wake up? You all are so rich and that is why you care less wether we are oil dependent or not . I hope for your grandchildren and future generations you please open your eyes and allow drilling and the building of refineries. Lots of refineries.

I find it obsene that we refuse to use the resources God gave us as a Nation while we grovel at the feet of those that despise our way of life. Encouraging conservation is fine, but I put $58 worth of gas in my 4-cylinder family sedan today. It is truly a shame that many people do not understand the main law of economics; the law of Supply and Demand. Should we work to reduce demand, sure. The free market will ultimately find a new alternative. And what will the motivation be? Whoever finds (and perfects) the new alternative energy will become as wealthy as one could imagine. In the meantime, there is still Supply to be tapped. There is no virtue in denying ourselves what is legitimately ours! This comment has been reported to the site manager. Dear Representatives, We elect you to support our peoples views, to "represent" what we the people feel is the best solution. In this case the only solution. The people are speaking and your not listening. We want ANWR open! 78% of Alaskans agree because they know already the oil companies do their absolute best to conserve the habitat and well being of the areas animals endangered or not. Considering the amount of time it will take to set things up we need to get on this NOW. We should have started sooner. Our economy is still growing even though the media screams recession, why not stand up against the lies and voice your opinion to let your district peoples know your in tune with the RIGHT solutions and not a part of the WRONG ones. You have a duty to the people you claim to represent ,to press our concerns and views on congress and senate. If you are unwilling to do your job then please resign and let us elect someone who will. This isn't about "you" its about "us", all of the people of this great nation. United we stand, divided we fall. This comment has been reported to the site manager. $5.00 A Gallon Gas? We need not look any further than to put the blame on enviromentalists and democrats in congress. The only reason there is a shortage and the demand for oil is larger than its supply is becasue we are sitting on some of the largest oil reserves in the world. We need to start drilling in ANWR and off shore if we are going to fix this problem. We need to stop begging and pleading with other countries and start building new refineries and drilling our own oil. Stop concerning yoruself with Alaskan wildlife and start concerning yourself with "humanlife". Stop wasting valuable corn crops on a completely worthless idea such as ethanol and drill our own oil so we can have the time to come up with real solutions instead of ones that will only appease tree hugging, global wraming alarmists on the left. Dear Elected Officials: We are committing national suicide by not drilling for our own resources. We are at the mercy of our "oil friends" (proof Arabs rebuff Pres. Bush's plea for more oil) some fo which prefer to annihilate us. Protect the American people for a change. The strain on the average American of increased gas, food , heating prices is totally unnecessary. No wonder your credibilty rating is so low. Please open up drilling at ANWR, off the cost of Florida, California and Texas. America needs to be energy independent. Yes we need to conserve, but that is not the answer to our problems with gas. Our economy runs on oil there is no way to get around that, we must get oil prices down.Until such legislation is passed I believe that all allowances for cars, gas, car insurance, etc. in Congress (both sides) should be disallowed. You need to pay all the expenses, that we pay. Enough of special priveleges.

I find it criminal for those in Congress to deny the American people access to the abundant oil and gas fields which we own on our own lands, and all for the protection of some tiny snail or the desolate living room of the never seen Caribou. Taxes will not stop the rise of prices in the energy sector. It takes at least 10 years to bring an oil field on line, or to build a nuclear power plant, so legislate now and just maybe we can avoid the super price inflation that lies around the corner. Inaction now on your part will surely guarantee your early retirement.Respectfully submitted,
Jim & Patti Scott

The idea that I even have to write this letter just shows how big government works against the people it is suppose to serve. With the price of gas and energy soaring due to increased world demand and speculation, it is mandatory "we the people" of this country do everything we can to ease the burden of high energy prices by tapping our own resources. I support responsible drilling in ANWR and anywhere else in the country, or off shore, where there is oil to be procured for the people of this great country. This comment has been reported to the site manager. Please, just do it. We all know it can be done responsibly and it is time. We need to empower ourselves, not those affecting our economy. Perhaps when our 'allies' in the middle east request new military hardware upgrades our response should be "...we do not see the immediate need to meet your requests." Whe we wsee the shieks driving one of their dozens of gas guzzlers and payinf 3 cents per gallon, why we as American are not incensed is beyond me. Include all areas: Gulf of Mexico, Colorado & Wyoming, etc. This isn't 1925, its 2008 - we can drill using modern technologies which is safe and environment-friendly. Just the announcement that we are going ahead with this, will scare the world's oil producers to produce more and/or drop their prices. Its a win-win decision - JUST DO IT!

I am VERY upset that this country feels it necessary to protect the caribou and polar bears while letting its' citizens live with the grief of higher gas prices. It is imperative that our congressman start thinking like intelligent human beings and stop trying to be God.I am also extremely ashamed to be living in a country where everything the President says is politicized! HE'S THE PRESIDENT and, once again, its time our congress GROW UP and stop whining about everything that is said and done. We have become a country of weaklings and whiners!
I say it’s WAY past time for us to start drilling in our OWN country. We have been a country of beggars –begging our enemies - for way too long too long. Just think what our country would look like today if Clinton had taken positive action towards making us energy independent when he was in office. We would not be in the place we are today!
I don’t care about caribou out in the Anwar
I’d like to afford gas to put in my car.
So “drill away as you like” is what I would say
So oil prices can come down in a great big way.

It is high time that America break the strangle hold over our economy and future that dependence upon foreign petroleum has created. It is incumbent on us, Americans, to open our resources and utilize them to the utmost. The false cry from "environmentalists" has hamstrung our fuel and electric industries, and it is long past the point at which we are capable of drilling, transporting, and refining petroleum with a minimum of disruption to the environment. To continue to block Americans from access and use of our nation's resources is simply criminal, and it is time to end this self-imposed handicap.

With regular gasoline now approaching $4.00 per gallon and remembering the promise of the Democrat leadership, when elected, to reduce the cost at the pump, I join with many of my friends to demand that the USA open up our own oil reserves. Just the threat of adding supply to the equation will put a scare into OPEC and bring down the price per barrel of oil. Following through with pumping our own oil, will have a sustaining effect on the price of oil and subsequently the price of refined products. We can't conserve enough or invent new technology fast enough to relieve the pain at the pump even in the next ten years or we would have done it during the last ten along with the infrasructure to support the new technologies. Where do we get hydrogen for our fuel cell cars? From the past, had ANWR been opened in the mid 90's when Bill Clinton said it would take ten years to get the oil, we would have it NOW! I'm hearing the same tired excuses in 2008 regarding our own oil. Stop listening to the enviromentalists that have been proven wrong in the past. Check out the Caribou population.
Also, while I'm writing, how about a refinery or two in the country?
I also, encourage the congress to get rid of the designer gasolines that are spread through out the country and prevent the free movement of fuel.
Let's get moving before fuel is so high the economy comes to a halt! Start doing something for the United States of America, the greatest country in the world, instead of your special interest groups!

It is time for you to get off your personal agendas and start doing work for all America. I think we should take away all allowance for cars, gas, car insurance, etc. for the bums and bummesses in Congress (both sides). After all, my husband has to drive 75 miles each way per day to work and back again, with no allowances. We pay all expenses. You have stiffled our country long enough. . Build more refineries. Drill and do research for all of our God-given natural resources. You are in Washington to do the people's work. Now DO IT!!!!!!!

Enough is enough. Stop the insanity and start drilling in this country. Please consider legislation that encourages oil exploration in this country while removing all the roadblocks to getting it done. Please reconsider drilling in Anwr. We need relief at the pump and even if we won't have the advantage of today's efforts for another 10 or more years, the sooner we get started, the sooner our children will not be dependent on our enemies for oil.Let's put people before animals and the environment and just be good stewards of the the land we have and use our own resources instead of funding our enemies so they can kill us and our children.
Oh...and while we're at it, let's start building and using refineries again.
Thanks!

It is absolutly crazy that we can not use our own given resources to give to the AMERICAN people. Yet you feel it is okay to purchase from Communist Dictators and make them wealthy all the while their own people suffer. We are Americans first and foremost and we need to start taking care of our own! We need to get rid of all the freebe programs abroad and RIGHT HERE and make America what it used to be a great super power.
We might as well be North Korea, there is little difference anymore.

If we had started drilling back in 1980 when you said it would take years to actually get any oil from drilling, we would be getting it NOW and wouldn't be in this mess. I hold the Democrat Party wholly responsible for the mess we are in. Your liberal policies are the cause of all the problems we face today! Open up drilling at ANWR, off the cost of Florida, California and Texas. America needs to be energy independent. Yes we need to conserve, but that is not the answer to our problems with gas. Our economy runs on oil there is no way to get around that, we must get oil prices down. This comment has been reported to the site manager. It will be reviewed and removed if inappropriate. In addition to drilling...In the 60’s President Kennedy set forth the goal of putting an American on the moon within 10 years. There were challenges and difficulties that looked insurmountable to some. America rose to the occasion, coming together and gaining a pride and confidence that inspired the world.
We have the opportunity to do it again. A president should challenge the skeptics and lead the USA to producing fuel from coal, cleanly, efficiently and under $2.00 a gallon!
Jobs would be created; exports of energy would eliminate the trade deficit and would enable our great land to again be the USA

We are foolish to continue to turn a blind eye to our energy needs. Buy your ignoring our own supply of fuels in our own country, punishes each and everyone of US. Therefore, by failing to drill for oil, build refineries, and nuclear plants, you are the ones who are causing the suffering of the American people. You cannot cut our fuels and our food supplies and continue to be our leaders. Soon the people will ignore you and elect true leaders to office. This comment has been reported to the site manager. When are our representatives going to stand up against the special interest groups of the enviromentalists and drill in our own country?, if the democrats and moderate republicans allowed new energy poilicies 20 years ago we wouldn't be in this situation now!!!!!!!!!! We have not allowed any new power plants or refineries to be built in this country either and that directly reflects the special interest groups. It's a shame that our elected officials are more concerned about getting re-elected than caring about the country as a whole!!!!!!!!!!This comment has been reported to the site manager. I find it difficult to believe any politician who believes that appeasing OPEC or alternate energy is the immediate solution to rising gas prices. It's time we get off our butts and get our own oil. I'm all about finding the next great technology, but right NOW, we need oil to bridge the gap. Oil is vital to the prosperity of this country! Unless we want to see our economy really tank, we best get busy drilling in ANWR, the gulf, turning coal into oil, etc. All our disposable income (which isn't much) is going into my gas tank, and I'm sick of it!This comment has been reported to the site manager. I know that it would be too much to ask for Congress to act in a sane, responsible and rational matter, but for once, could you please put the well-being of the people above those of the caribou or snail darter. We must immediately begin a path to energy independence or risk being "slaves" for energy to those vile people who only seek our destruction. When the time arrives, as it will in the very near future, that we do not have enough energy to maintain our standard of living, will you be the true "leaders" who will decry that we must invade another country, and truly create "A War for Oil." Will you weak-kneed jelly-spined Republicans please regain your moral compass and do the right thing for a change. Don't pander to the other side as they do not have the nation's best interest and only understand power. This comment has been reported to the site manager. I am a working stiff who will never be able to afford one of these "boutique" green hybrids or electrics. I and many like me are stuck with gasoline burning transportation and likely will be for the rest of my life. (next 20-25 years) We are the ones who suffer the most from these high energy prices. I can still remember approx 5 -6 years ago when drilling came up in Congress one of the reasons for NOT allowing exploration was that oil from ANWAR would not come on line for approx 6 years. That would have been about now. Why do we keep making the same mistake, expecting a different outcome? This comment has been reported to the site manager.
