    I am tired of hearing about how we are polluting this planet with carbon. History has shown that there was more carbon in the atmosphere before humans inhabited this planet than we could ever produce today on our own. We need an energy policy that allows for drilling in ANWR and other parts of this country to become competitive once again. We need a break from the high oil prices which are driving U.S. businesses to their brink. People are losing their jobs, their homes and their livelihoods. When will Congress wake up to the needs of its citizens? As a voter I can't wait till the next general election for Congress as I am willing to vote in new representatives that have a more favorable view towards this issue.

    Animals have been adapting to changing surroundings and environments for as long as animals have existed on earth! The animals will be fine. The United States left at the mercy of foreign oil WILL NOT BE FINE. We are already seeing the ramifications of that. There is no excuse to not take advantage of one of the infinite resources that this great nation can provide us. We bought Alaska from Russia for all of the vast resources that it possesses. As a government, you are utterly negligent if you do not now allow us to access those resources that we so greatly need. It's more than just us being able to increase the supply of oil to our country, it's us making a statement to the rest of the world. We are not afraid to use what we have to better ourselves. We have enough issues to worry about in the Middle East (the holocaust denying "president" of Iran, the infidel killing Islamic terrorists, etc.) without giving those fools leverage in knowing that at the end of the day, we need them for one of our most precious and neccessary goods! DRILL IN ANWR!!!

    Instead of holding congressional hearings on oil company profits and passing legislation to sue OPEC, both of which are nothing more than a waste of time and resources, Congress should do what they were hired to do, represent their constituents. When a majority of your constituents are urging you to develop ANWR, why do you continue to ignore your constituents? Development of ANWR will benefit all of America for a multitude of reasons, job creation, increased revenues on both State and Federal levels and reduced dependence on foreign oil. I am sure that you are also aware that the immediate impact on the price of oil. Once OPEC hears that ANWR will be developed, oil prices will drop and oil production will increase. Time is of the essence regarding this issue and I urge Congress to act in the best interest of the Country and take the necessary steps to move forward with the development of ANWR.

    USA MUST remove all domestic restrictions that are preventing us from becoming energy independent. This is the ONLY way we can rid our dependence on foriegn oil. Imposing higher MPG on car manufacturers and forcing the production of hybrids will NOT remove our dependency on foriegn oil. Oil is the life-blood of capitalism. The sooner congress recognizes this the better. Misleading the country with phoney arguments about wildlife will eventually catch-up with you. Domestic production of oil will benefit the majority of Americans, while preventing this will only appease a small number of environmentalists, which do not consitute either the majority of registered Democrats or America.

    It seems like OPEC is the ones dictating the price of oil, NOT the oil companies!! If we started drilling in AWAR, we would become the chief Oil Producing Country and with our technology we could do to the Saudi economy what they are doing to ours now! This is the greatest country on the globe! I think it’s time we started acting like it!!

    I simply do not understand why we are not allowing oil companies to drill for oil in ANWR and off the shores of our country. We have the technology to do this efficiently using environmentally safe methods. This should be done now or find another line of work because you will soon be voted out.

    It is complete insanity to NOT drill for oil in the huge oil deposits that have been recently discovered in this country. Pinning the future on 'alternative energy' sources, many of which are more costly, less efficient, and more polluting than oil, is just plain stupid. The hope that if the price of gasoline gets high enough, that some miraculous discovery will magically apear is not based on reality. We will need oil, natural gas, and their products for many decades to come.

    An official statement that the U.S.A. is going to open up these fields for developement, and approve new refineries for construction would have an almost immediate effect of a large drop in the price of oil world wide.

    At the same time, we should approve the construction of gasification of coal plants, clean coal technology power plants, and approve several nuclear power plants. It should be announced that due to the growing energy needs of the country, these measures are deemed for the good of the country, and necessary to preserve our way of life, and our security. In that energy independence is so important, any law suits trying to stop them, will be limited to people that have a direct cause of complaint. No broad class action suits brought on behalf of the local ecology or the environment in general will be allowed.

    I believe that the U.S. government should set a minimum price on the barrel of oil, or oil equivilent product of $35 per barrel for 20 - 25 years, so that producers and developers will be assured that their investments will be safe, and they won't lose their shirts should oil drop to $10 a barrel again. If they are to put out the billions of their own dollars at risk, they should have some sort of guarantee that they have a reasonable chance of repayment for their efforts.

    We can do better, and eventually, a safer, cleaner, alternative energy may be found. But to put the people of this country through the financial hardship they are facing now, with high gasoline, heating, and cooling costs, when we have so much put off limits by our own country is criminal. WE have created our own crisis, with over regulation, and allowing the 'greenies' to dictate what can and cannot be done to supply our own people what they need. I think that environmental groups should funnel their money into researching and developing alternatives to oil and natural gas. Instead of trying to stop our country in it's tracks.

    31,000 respected American scientists just announced that they do not subscribe to the 'man made' global warming theory, based on the fact that there is no scientific evidence to back it up. Global warming is now being changed to 'climate change', just in case what the evidence really shows is accurate, and we are going into a period of cooling. So the environmentalists have it covered both ways. Isn't that convienient? The fatal flaw in all the computer models available that are predicting global warming in the nest 100 years, is that they can NOT predict the PRESENT. If all the data collected 20 years ago is entered into the algorithms, the results for NOW are incorrect. Why should we stake our economic future on predictions that are so innacurate? We need to stop this insanity before we cripple our economy beyond all hope of recovery.

    Some people hope that if the economy is negatively affected as much as possible before the election, it will insure that 'change' will be elected to power. How much change isn't known. But anyone who thinks it will be a change that will produce growth, and prosperity for our country or for our people, is delusional.

    I cannot for the life of me understand how you can ignore the needs of the working people or why you have to drag your feet over this issue. The solution is not that hard to figure out. Why make the acquiring of it so hard...? Get busy and do something about it.     It is time that we use our nation's resources for Americans. This nonsense about "no-touch" lands is ridiculous. The technology we have today allows oil and natural gas drilling with little or no damage to the surrounding environment. We also need to drill off of the Gulf coast. Our country has the energy resources to allow us to either reduce or even cut altogether foreign imports.

    It is well past time to take advantage of the resources in our own country!

    It is time to start listening to the people, WE ARE SHOUTING OUT TO YOU. We must end our dependence on all other countries. We must have our own energy resourses.We need to drill and refine our own oil. We need to use nuclear for electricty. And than when we have become oil independent we can work on finding oil's replacement .

    We also need to bring back our manufacturing jobs we can't count on China ,Korea, and the others to supply us with goods. What will happen when our dollars have built their army's up to a point where they can make us change our foreign and domestic policy and we cannot do anything about it?

    While I'm all about saving the environment non of our efforts are going to make any difference if we do free ourselves from Saudi oil. With our technology we should be able to drill all the oil we need here in the US and still protect the environment.

    Are we actually funding the very people that want to destroy all that we represent. I think so. We need to do two things:

    1. provide funding for alternative energy sources. between developing technologies that cut down on fossil fuels and develop alternative sources we can revolutionize the whole energy policies and become independent and leaders in this world. There is something about American ingenuity that no other country in the world has been able to duplicate. I have a son in the beginning of his engineering career and I see first hand the spark that is able to change this energy hogging society. But research costs money... fund is absolutely crucial. Instead of bridges to no where.. let's put our taxes to work... I'm so tired of taxes being used to fund projects to get our congressional employees re-elected.

    2. Ever notice that nearly our sources for fossil fuels hate us or are under the power of dictators? We need to free ourselves from their greedy hate-filled control. In our personal lives we would never, as Americans, put ourselves in bondage to "lords" that hate and abuse us. Yet, we keep buying their products. 9/11 was "probably" funded by the money we daily ship over to the Saudi's for our oil... al-Qaida I'm sure is funded by our consumption of oil... We need to take these funds and reinvest the money into American projects. Why should all the "profits" of our energy consumption be spent supporting those that hate us and want to destroy us. Can you imagine the good we could do in the world if we were to shut off their access to this money and channel it to causes that American's have always held dear!

    We need to save our planet, no questions, but we need to save America first... or we are all doomed.

    - Ethanol has turned out to be a disaster. If it was so great, it wouldn't need to be subsidized by the government at taxpayer expense. The higher food prices we're paying at the grocery store shows that implementing the stuff into our gasoline was a terrible idea.
    - There is no global warming. It is a hoax perpetrated by Marxist extremists who want to see America become a socialist nation where policy is dictated to us from the top down. They want to tell us what we can and can't do, and how we may live our lives in general. This is Stalinist. These people desire to have even more and tighter restrictions and regulations imposed on companies without a care in the world as to whether or not they drive them out of business.
    - Drilling in ANWR and elsewhere will not destroy the environment. It will not eradicate the caribou and it will not drown all the polar bears. These are of course all lies. We can drill for our own oil in an environmentally friendly fasion.

    I relaize that your time is important and very limited, as well I understand that you cannot please everyone in the world all of the time. Knowng that, I would like to know where you stand on the issue of drilling in ANWAR. I would rather not receive the standard responses you are prone to giving. I would like an open, honest, and very candid response to a simple question. We, the United States, have so many resources that we are not using for our own benefit. Why are we beholden to environmental groups whose politics would raise the taxes all American citizens to pay for something that mankind has not been proven to cause? Sunspot cycle have been corelated to the average temperature of the earth much more reliably than carbon dioxide. Historically speaking the earth has always gone through cycles. What ever happened to the overpopulating of the earth, or the global cooling of the 1970's? The money that we have wasted on preparing for things that never come to pass could be used in so many other ways.     The technology is available for us to safely drill in ANWR without disturbing the animals or plant life. Our country needs to become less dependent on foreign oil not only to reduce the costs involved but also for national security reasons.     Dear Senators & Representative,

    Given the extraordinary impact "We the People" are having to endure being forced to pay artificially inflated energy costs, it is time for both houses and both political parties to put aside political posturing and put the needs of our countrymen at the tops of your respective agendas. Those of us out in the real world trying to eke out a living while being taxed to death are finding it more and more difficult to meet the needs of our families and continue to pay for gasoline to maintain our transportation to and from work. Ethanol (aka our food sources) is not a viable option. Stand up to the environmental lobby and stand with your constituents. We need to drill for oil in ANWR as well as off our coasts. We need more refining capacity and safe nuclear power. Hopefully one day science will find the energy panacea we'll need in the long term, but for the next 10 years we need to exploit the resources available to us now.

    I have been to Alaska, the so called “pristine wildlife preserve” is in fact a vast inhabitable tundra, that most of the year looks like moonscape.     Bill Clinton Vetoed drilling in ANWR in the mid 1990's. We would be reaping the benefits of this oil in the supply system by now if we were allowed to tap this reserve. So don't say that it will not benefit us for 10 years, because we could clearly use it now.

    Please consider this seriously. If we do not drill in ANWR, being that the Saudis have been refusing to increase the production of oil, we will be paying atrocious amounts of money just to fill our vehicles with gasoline just in order to do regular daily tasks (!), such as driving to work, purchasing groceries and getting errands done. There are way too many polar bears and they are NOT becoming extinct! Just how stupid do you think we are? Open your eyes!

    This Global Warming Theory is being imposed upon us to make the politicians and scientists who succumb to the hoax (yes, it's just a THEORY -- not FACT) more money! Aren't scientists who do not substantiate this theory and speak out against it, going to be penalized by having their funding taken away from them? I state my case.

    If this government does not shape up or ship out, there will be many Americans who are contemplating leaving the U.S., as it is not the free country that it once was.     It doesn't make since that we have access to our own oil and are prevented from drilling because we might disturb a Deer. With all the advancements in technology, I find it hard to believe that we can't extract the oil with little disturbamce to the enviroment.     With gas prices climbing daily, why is drilling for own oil NOT the solution? Only in Washington D.C. does increasing our own supply sound like a bad idea.

Better yet, build the nuclear reactors we need to produce energy, which can also be used to produce hydrogen, which in turn can drive clean cars.     The prices of gas at the pump are draining the life-energy out of our country. Nancy Pelosi, didn't you say that once the Democrats took control of the Congress (they did, didn't they)we'd see gas prices drop. Well??????? Nice Job guys!!     You want gas prices to go down? This will do it! Maybe there is a reason the good Lord put most of hte oil in places that are nearly uninhabitable. We can drill all we want in ANWR with minimal disruption of anything. It only makes sense! Now we just need to build another refinery or two and we are in business.

    Current law outlawing drilling for oil on US soil hurts the people that Congress reports to want to help. Poor, young single workers. So many speeches on energy independence means harvesting our own resources not just researching for an alternative source. Oil is the fuel of the planet and will be for another 30- 40 years.

    The oil located on US soil belongs to us. It is time you legislate the drilling in Anwr, the western states, off-shore and anywhere else oil is located on US property and the building of new refineries. The U.S. has more oil than all of the Middle East. The price of gas is at the hand of our Democrat-run Congress and you can be absolutely sure that I will and so will alot of other people be screaming and writing the truth about your responsibility in causing the price of gas to continue to rise at the pump! I can also guarantee you that by destroying the economy by not allowing us to achieve energy independence, you will not get Obama elected.

    The people are starting to wake up. They are starting to get it. It is Congress that is not getting it and it is the Democrat Party and the RINOs that are not getting it. You're not there to work for you; you are there to work for us!

    If you want to get Obama elected, do what you all said you were going to do. Fix our energy dependence problems and the price at the pump by legislating drilling for US oil and the building of new refineries.

    I would like to know how much the saudis are paying their politicians that they have in our government, to keep standing in the way of one of the things that made this country a super power in the first place! Drilling for our own oil on our terms and and doing it better, cleaner, and more safely than anywhere else on the planet! why on earth are we letting these political no nothings tell us whats best for us? we all know whats going on, the politician gets fatter and fatter from the opec pay-out to keep us out of ANWR and other places of interest. Somebody needs to tell these genuises that we need more oil until something better is figured out to replace it! But somehow i don't think that they're that dumb, but just that greedy and UN-AMERICAN! Hey, you want elected? Trust me, the first person to grow a set and ignore the people putting humanity on the back burner ( Green peace, Siera club,Peta, all of which are further recipients of your saudi sugar daddies) will surely be elected, no matter which party it is.     With all due respect... only a fool would think energy independence means not allowing us to extract our own resources for a short term goal, while working toward alternate energy systems for long term goals. We can and should do BOTH.
    After all, would it not be better for our economy to buy our oil from local sources than to continue to buy from foriegn sources?

    Exploring alternative fuel sources is fine but you don't forget about the life blood of the country. Oil is what makes this country run and not drilling whether it be in Alaska, the Gulf Coast or the new fields in South Dakota and Montana we need to get the Opec monkey off our back and stop holding us hostage with weekly barrel price increases. Ethenol certainly hasn't been a bargain, thankyou higher food prices. Politicians are increditable. Why do you always cave into the whining of ENVIROMETALIST WACKOS, ILLEGAL ALIENS or GAY ACTIVISTS and screw the majority in this country?     I'm all for new technologies. Maybe someday cars will run on jelly beans and love, but right now they need oil. America should never have to ration rice or anything else. There is only one reason for this and that is your (government) standing in the way of free market and the full use of our soverign resources. Do the right thing.

    Drill in ANWR... drill wherever there's oil in the 48 states...and IT"S THERE!!! There is no shortage of oil- what an idiotic concept unless you have a political agenda to advance. Uncap the wells that were capped because the oil companies weren't making the profit they thought they should make at that time and were never gone back to. Drill in the gulf...drill off our coastlines...you know...like China's doing off our coast in at least one spot but I don't hear anything from you guys or your enviro wacko buddies about that?!
    We've got more oil in shale in western U.S. than all of Saudi Arabia...I know, it's a little harder to get out of the shale, so what, we're already approaching five dollars a gallon in some regions of the country, if you guys had gotten on the stick and out of bed with the enviro nuts and kept drilling when you knew we needed it back then we wouldn't be where we are today.
    Democrats & Republicans alike are allowing a small group of tree-hugging, Hugo Chavez loving, America hating Marxists to try to bring this great nation to it's knees and you're buying into their scare tactics and selling us all down the river
    Also, some of you find it necessary to lecture us "common folk" on how we should just travel
    less, conserve more, ride our bikes to work - what a collassally ignorant thing to say - but I'll tell you what, when I see a Congressman regularly riding his bike to work, I'll...think about riding mine.
    Sure, it's probably a good idea to conserve where we can and sure, it's probably a good idea to explore alternative energy sources for the future, but windmills, solar, and electric cars etc. are not going to come on line in time and in enough capacity to fuel today's economy in the short run.
    How or why we got so dependent on oil is a topic for another time, for now though, whether we like it or not, we need oil to do the heavy lifting of today's global economy...and remember...there...is...no...shortage...of...oil...!!!
    America deserves better than this. Somebody...or several somebodies stand up and take the reins of this country and get her back on course. Tell those self-serving, global whining, environmentalists to take a hike and let's take back what's rightfully ours without worying about scaring a moose or a packrat or whatever.
    You guys were put there to further the will of the people, well hello,...this letter and thousands of others like it.....IS the will of the people. Now can we please see some action?!

    Long term it is in our best interest to remove our dependence on foreign oil reserves. Stop tying our hands, stop over-taxing oil companies (they will be the ones who come up with the first Nitrogen powered vehicle, of which 70% of our atmosphere is made) This is another 100 year process and we need to sustain our supply until we make the technological breakthroughs necessary to move past fossil fuels. Stop listening and taking money from an overpowering few and make real change. You cannot expect large taxes on oil companies to solve this problem. These are publicly traded companies. When you suggest capping or limiting or taxing profits of publicly traded companies you hurt the millions of people whose retirement and 401K funds are part of their portfolio. Stop interfering with the market, drill where we need to and eliminate the main source of funding to the planet's hotbed of terrorism.

    Oil prices are absolutely absurd, and completely unnecessary. It's a self inflicted wound. How can we go to foreign countries and pressure them to increase their oil outputs when we won't even DRILL OUR OWN OIL? That shows a certain amount egotism, don't you think, and aren't we trying to "rebuild our reputation in the world". We can't conserve ourselves to energy independence. Even if its not ANWR there are plenty of domestic opportunities to drill if you weren't in bed with radical environmentalists. China is drilling 20 miles off the Florida coast where we won't drill due to "environmental" concerns. Who do you think takes better care the environment China or us? You obviously don't care what happens to the little guy, or you would have done something already. Of course, YOU DON'T FEEL THE PAIN, MY TAXES PAY FOR YOUR GAS, I HAVE TO PAY FOR MY OWN!!! The rest of us are having a little trouble swallowing $4 a gallon gasoline. Just think how this is going to affect jobs. Less product will be shipped by semi's which will increase cost of goods, due to decreased supplies. Companies that have 1,000's of vehicles (ATT, Time Warner, First Energy, Verizon, FEDEX, UPS who literally employ MILLIONS) will need to lay off people to decrease their expenses to stay viable in the stock market. WHAT THE HELL ARE WE PAYING YOU FOR? DRILL OUR DAMNED OIL OR YOU WILL LOSE YOUR DAMN JOB. Democrats promised they would decrease the cost of gas. Well its been almost 2 years. Why has the cost doubled since you took the majority?

    We need to be free of fuel dependency from foreign sorces and use our own resources. I am a truck driver and it is having an enormous impact on the trucking industry. I am wondering if Congress and the Enviormentalists are getting money from these foreign countries to make sure we don't drill for our own oil.

    It is very apparent and very clear that the United States Congress does not represent the people who have voted for them, but they do represent the lobbyists and the special interest groups only. They do not give a damn about their constituants, only those who buy their votes! They do not care about the American people nor their own country! We are slaves to OPEC! We do have plenty of oil and natural gas in ANWR to sustain us. It is time we tell OPEC to shove their oil up their turbans where the sun don't shine! President Bush would have never, ever have had to kiss the Arabs Asses for more oil if we were drilling in ANWR!
