Drill ANWR and open more areas of the coastal United States to drilling now. The security of the country is at stake. If you put up false barriers to using our own natural resources (including coal) to placate the eco-nut constituency, you should be prepared for a state of continual war in the Middle East because oil is the engine of our country and no amount of happy talk about conservation and windmills can change that fact in the next several decades. Drill Alaska and our coastal regions. Oil platforms in the Gulf survived Katrina without ecological disaster and drilling can and will be done safely in Alaska and along the mainland coasts. This comment has been reported to the site manager. We the American People do not believe the lies about climate change we know that the whole global warming thing is a hoax perpertrated on the U.S. citizens to rob us of our money. There is no global warming! The earth goes through cooling and warming periods constantly. Mankind has nothing to do with it. Stealing money from the American Citizen to pay for a hoax is wrong! Plain and simple. Most of already know that ANWR is a vast wasteland that no person in their right mind would visit. It is not the pristene wilderness the enviromentalists make it out to be. It's time to drill for our own oil resources there now.Yours Truly,
Robert W. Makosky

The best way to a better economy and the only way to control our fuel prices is to use and control our own oil. Not only should we drill in Anwr, we should use every means we have to use our own resources and stop send our money to terrorist countries. Besides oil production from over seas would go up as soon as we got serious about getting oil from our own wells. This comment has been reported to the site manager. Cut the crap! We have more oil than the saudi's up there. I'm sure, with the technology we have today, we would be able to safely drill up there and not leave a major environmental impact. The United States needs to drill for oil in ANWR. We need to increase the supply of oil to keep up with the increasing demand for oil. Otherwise, the price of oil will continue to skyrocket and pull our economy into a recession. Furthermore, we need to become less energy dependent on oil imports from Middle Eastern Countries that use our oil dollars to fund madrassas and mosques around the world that preach and support terrorism and radical Islam. This comment has been reported to the site manager. President Bush has given diplomacy a chance by appealing to the Saudi's to increase production. The crazy president of Iran has stated that he wants to show us how much his oil is REALLY worth. It is time NOW for us to show both the Saudi's and the President of Iran what we think their oil is really worth. We MUST DRILL NOW!!!!
Then we need to work to find alternatives to oil based fuel. But in the meantime....
We MUST DRILL NOW!!!!
People and the needs of people must come before anything else!!!!
My husband and I both have very good incomes & I know that although things may be tight for our family right now - we will get through this. It makes me sad to think that there are people who may not.
It is absolutely insane that we depend on outside sources for our fuel...It makes me sad that the people who have the power to do something about it are not willing to do anything about it because they fear the environmentalists. I feel that the health and safety of my family is at stake and I am begging you to DRILL in ANWR NOW!
There has to be a way to DRILL in ANWAR without majorly disturbing the wildlife. We're the United States of America - We can do ANYTHING - but it has to happen - and it has to happen SOON!!!!
I love this country and I don't want to see it change - not having enough oil is just the beginning of the change!
Please Drill in ANWAR.

I think we have waited long enough. We must begin drilling in Anwar. I don't understand why we are bowing to those who refuse to "damage the pristine area of Anwar". We have oil in other places in our country and yet we silll rely on the Middle East oil! Why? Why should we continue to depend on the Saudi's for oil when we have oil in our own country.Frankly I am sick and tired of hearing the environmentalists complain that we would destroy the wilderness or whatever site we could be drilling. I don't believe God would give us such rich resources in our own country and we let it sit so we can depend on Saudi's who really don't care whether we survive as a nation or not. I don't believe for one minute that the Saudi's are our friends politically or otherwise. They are playing a game with us and one day it will come back to harm us.
Let's drill Anwar now! Time is of the essence. Let's get moving before gas prices reach $6 a gallon!!!

To not drill and use our own resources borders on the insane. The same people complaining about our dependency on others are the same people who are doing their damnest to keep us from getting to and using our own resources. Clean coal that Clinton made off limits, nuclear power and new refineries, oil shale. We have the resources to lessen our dependency - let's use them. This comment has been reported to the site manager. It will be reviewed and removed if inappropriate. Thank you!

I've heard people say that we have to conserve to help the energy crisis. We tried that when Jimmy Carter was President and it only caused bigger problems. I know, I lived through it. If we do not drill and refine our own oil, we can kiss our country goodbye. We have more oil in this country than Saudi Arabia but the Democrats/Enviromentalists want us to go back to the horse and buggy days. I think that it is past time to stop paying for our own destruction. We need oil to survive and we have it. We are just to dumb to take matters into our own hands and solve the problem. If there are future generations, they will ask why didn't we solve the problem when we had the chance. We need to drill in ANWR and off both coasts.I gave twenty years of my life, my health, and my wife's health for this country by serving in the U.S. Navy. I refuse to let the Democrats/Enviromentalists and some Rino's destroy it. We either provide our own oil or we elect some people for Congress that will let us.

It's time we seek and use our own resources. Companies now have the technology to safely drill with minimal impact on the environment. Alternative fuels are too far away and we need relief from foreign oil NOW, while alternative technologies are being developed. Sure, Anwr oil is 5 plus years away if drilling started today. It was that far away when Clinton would not allowing drilling in the early 90's. If drilling took place then we would not have our energy problems now. If we don't drill now, what will our oil prices look like 5 years from now? In addition, we should start a coal to oil program. The U. S. Military is using it now, why not the consumer? It's time politicians start listening to the people and start spending less, cut big government, cut taxes and stay out of the way of businesses, and let them create new technologies and jobs. The vast majority of the government programs and government agencies are unconstitutional. GET RID OF THEM. It's time WE THE PEOPLE clean house in Washington and elect leaders that will live by and follow the constitution. The only thing the majority of the current elected officials are intrested in is the next election, so they can keep there job. The majority of the politicans have never had a real job. Maybe it's time you start looking!

Gentlemen:If Congress is so concerned with the welfare of our future generations, please stop punishing us with this procrastination. It is common knowledge that any major change to our country's energy aquisition / use will take at least five to ten years to come on line. Every day we delay is another day of wasted opportunity for energy independence. Let us have a larger supply of oil to keep gasoline prices down until any new transportation technology becomes available. As a member of the so called "Y" Generation, I find it reprehensible that Congress is stonewalling. Foreign oil is merely one major issue to address now before crises turn into calamities: tax reform, Social Security, the War on Terror are equally important. However, those are different petitions for a different day. But don't consider Congress to be so benevolent. The bad policies and programs of today will probably fall to my peers to rectify in the next half century. Being a Republic, if the citizens of this country are vocalizing wanting increased domestic oil drilling to ease their financial burdens, and to keep this nation free, it is still your job(s) to abide by their wishes. If saving the planet is your prime motivation for this restriction, it shouldn't weigh so heavily on your hearts. If the climate radically changes, or if animal habitats are affected by our human activity, it won't matter directly to you. You will be dead and buried. The next generations are already maturing, and we're not all interested in merely playing video games and slacking. (The oldest of us are eligible to run for election to the U.S. Senate now.)
Thank you for your time.

If our elected representatives cannot open our country to the use of our own resources, Maybe we need new representatives. We should be using all of our resources. Stop catering to special interest groups and do the job you were elected to do.I also believe that all foreign aid to Opec countries should be suspended until the price of oil is lowered to $75.00 a barrel. Why should taxpayer money go to oil rich countries while Americans cannot afford to fill their gas tanks.

It is about time that we become oil independant. We are floating on oil. 2+2 does not equal 5 as democrats want us to believe. Stop worrying about junk science such as Global Warming. I want my oil to run my vehicles and drive my own personal economy. I drive 160 miles round trip per day to get to work and you feel good fools are sitting around trying to figure out a way to make alternative fuels work so that the Green idiots will be happy. This is basic economics. If we drill for our own oil and the price lowers the government will be swimming in tax money and Americans will spend their money on other taxable items not to mention that our oil will be selling on the world market and drive down the price even further. I am tired of paying for Democratics being "Stuck on Stupid". Apparently no one in Government has had to make a job on Monday or a payroll on Friday. Get your heads out of your asses!!! YOU WORK FOR US.P. S. Even if we kill a few deer in the process at least we can take the meat and feed the hungry.

I, Rosemary Patton, emphatically believe we should use our own resources and restore our country to its previous status of the strongest, most successful, most compassionate country in the world. Let's put people back to work. Let us put more refineries up and give working men a paycheck all the while bringing down energy costs so corporations won't want or need to go overseas. I wholeheartedly believe in keeping the air and water clean, however I don't think we have to starve or freeze to death to do it. DRILL IN ANWR.This comment has been reported to the site manager. I find it amazing that we are willing to continue to be held hostage by foriegn oil suppliers. The USA must work to cut dependance on foreign supplied oil & other products that threaten our national security. It is high time that we begin putting America First ! I'm tired of hearing about all the problems around the world, & we think that we can somehow fix things by throwing a bunch of money at it. It did not work for LBJ's Great Society welfare program.....and the rest of the world is no different. The United Nations is a total scam.....& we foot the bill. All of our money just getsstolen by some corrupt crook somewhere. It has to end now. I hate to say I am becoming an isolationist.....but we need to take care of things at home before we send any more hard earned US taxpayer dollars anywhere.

Writing to my representatives and congress persons is not a normal activity for me but I believe I must make my concerns known to you. Our country is being held hostage by the oil producing nations and our economy in danger of collapsing if Washington does not wake up.While I believe we must find an alternative to fossil fuel there is nothing on the immediate horizon to avoid total disaster for the American people. Bio-fuel has proven to have an impact totally opposite of its intended purpose, both economically and environmentally, and must be halted immediately. We must use our own natural resources now to prevent an economic collapse and ultimately a social revolution.
It is imperative that you aggressively support drilling in ANWR as well as other offshore and on shore sites. Coal to oil is now economically feasible and needs your support as well.
I challenge you to go to any gas station in your district and ask your constituents as they fill up their car “If you could pay $2.00 a gallon for gas would you support drilling in AMWR?”. The People are speaking and you are our voice. Disenfranchised constituents are growing. We need your vote on these economic and social issues now just as you need our vote to stay in office.

With the world's need for oil and refined petroleum products growing by leaps and bounds—and with new markets opening up daily in places where it was not an in-demand quantity in years past—can we really afford NOT to use our own natural resources to their fullest potential? From what I've been reading about it, the percentage of land that would used for drilling would be miniscule, leaving the vast majority of it still a safe haven for wildlife, yet yielding enough raw petroleum to power our nation for decades to come. Not only is drilling for oil in ANWR an idea that makes sense both ecologically and economically, but it's really our right to do it!This comment has been reported to the site manager. We need to be independent in oil/energy sources and a good beginning is obtaining the oil in ANWR, and then build new refineries. The more dependent we are on foreign supplies the more likely this country will dissipate. This comment has been reported to the site manager. It will be reviewed and removed if inappropriate. It is obvious to any sane person that we should be drilling in the US where ever possible. The US has vast resources available for energy. To be held hostage by the Middle East or minority environmental special interest groups is ridiculous. Our economy will be destroyed if we continue on this road to insanity. We must conserve and respect the ecology responsibly not recklessly. The irresponsible actions of congress have already condemned us to massive inflation. Do you really want to condemn our country to poverty, hunger and disease? This comment has been reported to the site manager. It will be reviewed and removed if inappropriate. Thank you!

Please do what you know is right. Supply is the ONLY answer to this dilemma. DRILL IN ANWAR. This disaster is expanding into all areas. Usually the summer season is a chance to get heating oil at a lower price but this year that is probably not going to happen. I learned that people who use diesel are substituting heating oil for their diesel use. Some energy producers are using it in place of diesel to generate power. That is upping the demand for my heating oil. When will it stop? This comment has been reported to the site manager. It will be reviewed and removed if inappropriate. Thank you!

It is time for us to use our own oil resources and not depend on foreign oil. You need to quit listening to the people and accepting money from them and get our economy back on track. Betty you are from my city and know it can't make it financially paying this enormous price. I know people are saying it won't be "online" for 10 years, but if President Clinton would have signed the bill in 93 we would be using it now. Lets stop the foolishness and use what we have. I know there are crazy ideas out there to reduce the demand for the oil we import. However, the plans to reduce are 10 or more years away. We need help NOW. I understand it's not "all the rage" or "the green thing to do", to use our natural resources, but it is the smart and right thing to do. It is critical that we open up the resources within our borders for use by the citizens of this country. Failed experiments like the ethanol subsidies have done nothing to ease the supply of fuel, and instead have spiked the cost of food. Unleash American Excellence and allow exploration and development of oil, gas, coal and nuclear. These resources will give us the economy to then research alternative energy sources in the future. This comment has been reported to the site manager. Sir's, as a 22 year US Army vet, I am asking that you take the handcuffs off America capitalism. We have all the resources here in our own country to handle ALL of energy needs, now and in the future. We are Americans we can anything we set our mind and resources to do. We are winners not losers. We can win the war on terror and unleashing our own oil supplies would be a dagger in the very heart of the enemy. I am part of the 4% who have served. I started my military service with the US Marines in 1968,and we have a motto " if you can't stand behind us please by all means stand in front of us". I am asking, that all of you, support America First, before your individual parties or political ambitions.

We the people elect you to represent OUR IDEOLOGY and value system, NOT your extreme agendas! Stop making laws based on "if's", for example the Polar Bears, whose population has went from 5,000 in '72 to 25,000 in 2008, will die "IF" all of the ice melts. Correct me if I'm wrong, all-knowing politicians, but doesn't "endangered" mean decreasing in population, not increasing? You are now personally responsible for the passing of a law that is based on unproven science! You have opened the door for litigation from environmental attorney's to slam the door on any drilling in the United States, translation for YOU SELF-SERVING POLITICIANS is MORE FOREIGN DEPENDENCY, and even HIGHER PRICES for consumers! Have some intellectual honesty with the people that elect you. Stop pandering to the special interest groups! DRILL IN ANWR NOW, stop the excessive growth of the government, and DO WHAT THE PEOPLE ELECTED YOU TO DO! I also suggest you READ AN ECONOMICS 101 textbook, and focus on the SUPPLY AND DEMAND SECTION! All three of you may want to BRUSH UP on your constitution as well because I don't remember seeing the "Declaration of Polar Bear Independence" inside. Have we gone mad in this country? What are we thinking? Nothing has changed in 30 years. I work in research and development power generation and I'm all for finding alternative sources of energy but with that being said, we are 20 to 30 years away from these new technologies becoming a reality. We need to drill for our own oil and stop relying on those who HATE us for our oil. It seems like common sence to me and to most people for that matter so I ask What is the problem? It makes no sense to me that Cuba is selling off-shore drilling rights in the Gulf, when we don't drill. If it is an environmental issue, do you really think China and other countries take the care with that we would? This is insane, and OPEC is laughing all the way to the bank at us.
Do those in Congress have any common since at all?
How bad do things have to get regarding the price of food? (Nothing like using food for fuel)
How bad does the economy have to get? (In case you didn't realize it, economies run on fuel, just as our bodies run on fuel)
It has become obvious that economics is not a liberal strong suit. The average American could give you a lesson on the laws of supply and demand.

Are you career politicians so out-of-touch with your electorate? Or, maybe you just don't care anymore. Why should you? Your lifestyle hasn't changed. Even if gas goes up to $10 a gallon you'll just squeeze more tax dollars out of us.

It's long past time to be accessing our on resources and not importing them. ANWAR is not anything worth "saving for the future generations". With the new technology we have at our disposal any impact would be minimal. The climate is inhospitable, the insects deadly, and the region undevelopable in the foreseeable future. We needed to access it 25 years ago but were stopped by special interests - now the "special interest" is to become self-sufficient again while developing other lower impact power sources.Drill ANWAR and off the eastern, western and Caribbean coasts and wherever else we have oil. Build new refineries, quit being dependent on others with no concern for us beyond the cash we supply them with for their oil.
Drill, drill, drill!

As a family whose father commutes downtown and mother travels regionally for work, the cost of fuel is becoming a terrible burden. This, along with the increased cost of food has our family struggling for the first time since just out of college 20 years ago.It is extremely frustrating (and painful) to sit back and watch the price of oil climb to over $120 per barrel making Middle East, terror supporting countries rich, while we restrict producers from accessing our own abundant supply of oil. Just think if we would have opened up even just ANWR to production back in 2003. We wouldn't be as dependent on the limited production in place now. My family wouldn't be spending the additional $800 per month that could be well spent elsewhere instead of sending it overseas.
I view it as negligent to our country's well being and security and borderline criminal by tying our hands and forcing us to rely on foreign oil production.
It is obvious to state that the natural progression of our society is to rid ourselves of our dependence on fossil fuels and progress to alternative means of energy production. We are already doing so. It is also becoming more apparent that "Global Warming" may not only be cyclical, but not a product of society at all. Even so, advocating access to our own oil reserves is entirely a means of temporary relief to our citizens while alternatives are explored, tested and perfected.
Why are you forcing us to sit back and watch countries like China and India explode through their own revolutions only to create havoc here? Why are you forcing us to watch while they funnel they limited supply their way and progress through the same industrial growth that we did a century ago when we have a temporary solution right here at home?
I am confident that there is solution where all parties (including the concerned environmentalists) are satisfied. Don't let it continue longer than it has. Don't make it even more difficult on our citizens when it doesn't have to be.
Imagine... buying a tank of gas where the money goes back into our own economy, not a foreign one.
Make it happen.

I strongly urge you and all members of Congress to take action to allow oil exploration and extraction of oil from ANWR as well as off-shore from the continental US. Remaining dependent on oil from the middle east and South America is contrary to America's security and to an increasing imbalance in foreign trade. In addition, we need new refinery capacity and Congress must repeal laws that restrict or prevent construction of new refineries. For that matter, we need to build new nuclear power stations in the long term and new coal-fired stations in the short term to provide for the nation's electric power requirements.
Congress must stop playing politics with the future of America, and start doing what they are elected to do - carry out their Constitutional duties to preserve, protect and defend this nation.

If we are producing our own oil and not having to go to outside sources, the cost should come down.
