Please create economic growth by drilling in ANWR. Let's step towards becoming independant and not dependant on imported oil. By drilling now we can buy ourselves time to create or discover a new source of energy. This comment has been reported to the site manager. It will be reviewed and removed if inappropriate. Thank you!

It's time our Representatives start thinking about "OUR" country and STOP worrying about what other countries think. The old saying "what goes around, comes around" and unless you people get your head out of your butts, and start taking back our freedoms and building our country back to where it was and should be, telling the Environmentalist and the liberal quack cases who thinks our country should run like a third world country, I can only hope you never sever in office again, and you have to rely on the liberal government to take care of you. Quit sitting back while we pay your salaries and do nothing!!!! How many bossed do you know that would allow their employee's to get paid while doing nothing??? Also, something better be done about the horrendous, despicable way our troops are being treated. If it weren't for them, you people that sit high on the hill wouldn't have a hill to sit on!!!!!GOD BLESS AMERICA & OUR TROOPS WHO MAKE IT SAFE!

Quit letting a minority make choices against the will of the majority. Start drilling now! Its irresponsible & foolish to not drill while paying these prices to a group that doesn't like us anyway. We can take care of ourselves & its time we start doing it. China is drilling in the gulf but we aren't?? Get your act together & get this done! Oh, and thank Nancy Pelosi for me for these lower gas prices she promised. They've risen 75% under her leadership. I'm a trucker & feel it every day...Dennis Ferrell JrThis comment has been reported to the site manager. It will be reviewed and removed if inappropriate. Thank you!

You Democrat Politicians (Trying to get that dirty taste out of my mouth for saying that) need to get off your "Collective Asses" and take care of this country. You care more for Partisan Politics than you do for the welfare of this country. TAKE CARE OF BUSINESS. Get us back on track by drilling for OUR oil before China gets it. Get us back on track by allowing nuclear power plants to be built. Get us back on track by removing restrictions and allowing refineries to be built. You are leading this country down the road of "Self Destruction" and you don't care who goes with you.

We have to drill for our own oil until we have other means of energy. No reason to pay for high prices of oil when we have our own. This comment has been reported to the site manager. It will be reviewed and removed if inappropriate. Thank you!

Not drilling in Anwar is radiculous. All sources of energy should be explored.Quit the bickering in Washington and pass a good comprehensive plan to include all sources of energy, oil, gas, coal, wind, nuclear, water, crops, garbage or whatever can be used.
We need to be energy efficient and need to be self sufficient instead of counting on other countries.

Please enable our energy companies to drill in ANWR to keep our economy strong. In the early 1980's, oil was $35 a barrel, and when the oil producers in the Persian Gulf found out we were serious about drilling for oil, the barrel dropped to $12! We the People need relief. Our enconomy is going to decline if you don't support drilling in our territories.Families won't be able to afford to educate our children because of high energy costs. Our food prices are rising due to the bad policy of converting corn into Ethanol! Food for oil is not efficient as it is in Brazil.
Drill for oil in our country, and work on developing alternative sources of energy later, not the way it's being done now. Think about your constituents back home who will be watching how you vote on this and other energy legislation.
We will be voting for candidates who support Americans.

This issue is so important. The American economy simply can not susstain it's self in it's current energy crisis. We need to take back our independence from foriegn oil sources and give the American people the chance to USE it's OWN resources. While research for alternative fuels is important, America's self-sufficiently needs to take precedence. I urge, encourage, and implore you to aggressively support using the resources most at our own disposal. Let’s take American’s destiny back in to its own hands. I am very disappointed in the US congress. I would like to think with all of the so called educated congressmen more than a few would have common sense. The price of oil will not come down unless there is drilling and more refineries. "Hello anybody home" Yes of course invest in alternative energies but allow drilling as well. Democrats have blocked any type of drilling and have not allowed refineries to be built and I would like to know why. This comment has been reported to the site manager. Dear Senators and Congressman,I am writing you on my beliefs of the urgency to explore ANWR and any other viable domestic oil and gas reserves and resources. I believe that Energy Independence is the MOST IMPORTANT thing that this country has to achieve over the next 10 years. Similiar to the way we decided to put a man on the moon and less than 10 years later, it happened. We need to be drilling everywhere, 24/7, 365 days a year in an environmentally responsible way. However, this doesnt mean we continue to release oil and gas contract land the same way. It is the environmental impact statement reports that are taking all the time to get these domestic wells online. Today's left leaning politicians are using this time in a "red herring fashion" as a reason not to drill. There is no good reason why enviromental inspectors cant work TOGETHER with the oil and gas industry IN CONCERT with one another WHILE exploration is happening. The current process of waiting 10 years for an enviromental impact statement to be issued puts our national security, economy and long term goal of energy independence at serious risk. This issue is as important an issue as this nation has every faced. We need to start acting like it!!
Thanks for considering this seriously!

Gentlemen, WE all want to save the planet. We also want to survive saving the planet. it is not a suicide pact, it is a long term project. you currently have not other means to run this great nation other than OIL. You cannot see the trees for the Forest from the position your head is currently in.I watched a nuclear reactor in Platteville Co. get torn down and replaced with a gas fired boiler 15 years ago that never got turned on because of the NIMBY groups and your average GREENIE's. That was well spent tax money wasn't it. Could we be using that clean energy today or what?

Economists suggest that the shale locked oil under the midwest region of the U.S. would be economically feasible to extract if oil were selling at $55.00 per barrell. I humblely submit that if we started drilling for oil in the U.S. at that price, the forgien oil supply would have to drop their price dramatically to remain competetive.Drilling technology and environmental controls have also improve to the extent that new drilling would have little impact on the environment. Of the 1200 plus oil rigs in the Gulf of Mexico during hurricane Katrina, not one rig was damaged enough to cause lose of oil to the environment.
We can drill safely and economically with little to no impact on the environment and I for one believe this action is critical to the security of our nation.

Congress constantly talks about reducing dependence on foreign oil, then enacts legislation that INCREASES dependence on foreign oil. Refusing to allow exploration at home - duh! Windfall profits tax - we tried that 30 years ago, and foreign oil imports sky-rocketed. Ethanol - now turning out to be both an economic and environmental loser. Wind and solar - still not viable, even with massive taxpayer subsidies. And I won't even bother with nuclear. The US is a major oil producer, and we have potential reserves right here that could be developed and used to reduce our dependence on foreign oil. But instead, Congress kowtows to the enviro-fascists. Enviro-fascists who have been consistently WRONG on their predictions of environmental disasters. Enviro-fascists who are still screaming about the imminent threat of global warming, even after TEN YEARS of global COOLING!
Enough already! We don't need an energy policy, we don't need a Department of Energy, we need a free market in energy. And that means opening up the outer continental shelf, ANWR, and potential on-shore reservoirs for exploration and development.

The cost of gas and fuel is going to kill the US economy. We need to drill for crude oil and natural gas located within the borders and coastal waters of the United States. There are safe and environmentally friendly methods that we have developed and can use to limit the impact. We must also pursue building new refineries, nuclear energy, wind power, solar power, and clean coal power by offering incentives and tax abatements. This comment has been reported to the site manager. We need to drill in ANWR. While the rich can afford to spend the extra money on gas, the poor are giving up fruits and vegetables, and books for their children. Alaskans overwhelmingly support drilling in ANWR, how can a senator on the lower 48 have a strong opinion. The impact of 2,000 acres out of 20 million is immaterial. Yes, we CAN drill our way out of this. Once we start, OPEC will lower the cost of oil, and will even produce more of their own. Furthermore, it will allow energy companies the financial breathing room they need to invest in alternate sources. This comment has been reported to the site manager. Much has been said about this oil not making an impact for years, however if we began drilling back when this discovery was first made we would now be reaping the benefits of it. It is time we responsibly reopen our own reserves of natural resources, not just oil but coal, natural gas, shale oil and others.Thank-you

It is long past time for Congress to allow private businesses to do the right thing: drill in ANWR, drill offshore, build nuclear power plants, dig shale oil, etc - anything that improves current supplies. In addition, provide grants for alternative energy research - from basic science to demonstration projects for promising technologies. And provide subsidies for creating the distribution infrastructure needed for the most promising. In short, a comprehensive strategy that addresses short- medium- and long-term objectives. This comment has been reported to the site manager. It will be reviewed and removed if inappropriate. Let's provide incentives for domestic production of energy by limiting all bureacratic regulations on energy production and eliminate all taxes on profits from all domestic energy producers. Our energy needs are not only vital for our national defense, but by utilizing domestic production of energy, we can decrease the funding of oil revenues to terrorist enemy states in the Middle East and decrease our trade deficit by decreasing the flow of capital to foreign oil companies. This comment has been reported to the site manager. The drilling of the plentiful oil supplies is necessary. Rising gasoline prices are driving down the United States economy. It is ridiculous to think about how much gas costs these days. If something is not done, we may well end up with another crash at Wall Street. On 2 May 2008, the Dow Jones Industrial Average Index (.DJI) closed at a high point of 13058.2. Since then it has mostly fallen while the cost for a barrel of crude oil has mostly risen. Drill up in Alaska. America needs oil until we have some other form of fuel and energy. This comment has been reported to the site manager. It will be reviewed and removed if inappropriate. Thank you!

We have so much oil right here in the USA .Why aren't we drilling for it? Wake up! It does not take anything but common sense to know charging more taxes to the oil companies will mean even HIGHER prices for Americans to pay at the pump. I realize most of you do not worry as much about it, because you all have more money than the rest of us. Remember we have to get back and forth to work, and feed our families! If you guys don't vote to drill here and drill NOW this will be the beginning of the end of America. Why can't you understand this. We do not want to depend on foreign oil anymore!! Not only do we support drilling in 'ANWR', but we also demand that every reasonable and economically feasible solution of energy production, including gulf drilling, nuclear power, synthetic fuels and all other forms of alternative energy be vigorously and immediately pursued. Only with the simultaneous theat of both short term and long term energy PRODUCTION plans will the speculative price oil even begin to fall to a reasonable level.Conservation efforts will take care of themselves through market forces and the oversight by Congress is unnecessary and a waste of time. We DEMAND Congress act immediately on removing the excessive restrictions for energy production at every level.

As the price of fuel rises to $5 to $7 per gallon, it would seem that our elected representatives in Congress would finally see the light and perhaps learn a little about supply and demand. Using our own resources will make more and more sense as the price continues to rise and those who wish to remain in their cushy Congressional jobs had better take heed.In spite of laments to the contrary, the automobile is here to stay for the foreseeable future. No pie in the sky solution will alter that basic truth. The US Economy and Society are built around the automobile and changing that will take decades. The only solution that makes the slightest sense to me is to drill for and recover our own resources. Yes, I mean Drill for Oil in ANWR, off shore and anywhere else that we have resources. Even that solution will take 10 years or more. Meanwhile Mr/Ms Congress Person, what do we do for fuel?
I suggest a basic course in Economics as a requirement for serving in Congress.

I am a recent college graduate and I had been looking for a job, so far I have turned up with nothing! I am also 20 years old and a volunteer firefighter...I had an interview two weeks ago with a company and it looked like a certain job, but he called back saying that because of the increase in the cost of oil, companies are not looking to expand and no longer need him (Machine Shop) so this means that he could not hire a new worker, ME!!! Thanks a lot congress! YOU COULD HAVE PREVENTED THIS!!! AND YOU CAN DO SOMETHING!!! you need to listen to AMERICA!!! you know, the people you work for!, the people you have a responsibility to take care of!!! Stop worrying about the environment now, we are not ready to go to alternative fuel sources!!! plus there is no PROOF that global warming is a fact!!! lets see how many people believe in global warming when they cant heat their home this winter! CO2 in the atmosphere has been steadily for over 150 years, but you know that, you don't care, the GREEN movement is just another level of control you can have over america!
WE NEED NEW NUCLEAR POWER PLANTS!!! I have been sending letters and emails for some time with no response, I have had it with your talks about suing the oil companies when its your own damn fault!!! take some responsibility for once in your sorry, corrupted lives!
There is a serious lack of BALLS in my leaders in Washington!!! thats right, I am calling you out, your a wimp, you need to stand up for your self! your family! for America! you cant even run your own damn senate restaurant, with out going millions of dollars in debt, YOU ARE RITCH!!! you don't need free food! buy your own damn food! who the hell do you think you are!!! right now i make $11 an hour doing construction 10 hours a day, i barely make $300 a week, I would be making over $400 if i didn't have to pay so much in taxes!!! No only are you making it hard for me to succeed in life, your taking my money away, money i want to save to buy a house, invest, and save for retirement! I can barely survive now because my government is not taking care of its people. and I don't mean give me money, I want you to let me keep my money! I want to invest that social security money I have to give you in Gold, not into some account that is paying older people which I will never have. I want to hear from YOU I want you to explain why I am paying over 4.00 a gallon for gas, and not some bullshit like increase in demand, You know damn well the only people who are making a decent profit off oil is the government!!! you make over 15%, thats more than any other hand other than the price of crude! you want to have a windfall profits tax? well isn't that a tax for companies who make money doing something that doesn't involve what there company is for? your going to sue the oil companies for making money off oil? thats like suing burger king for making money off burgers!!! you need to get out of your fantasy world there in washington and stop making your decisions based on who is going to fund your next god damn election campaign your miserable punks! and one more thing, why hasn't Obama given up his birth certificate? how the hell can he be in charge of anything if we don't even have proof he is an american citizen?

I am thourougly disgusted with OUR government's inability to accomplish much of anything these days. I truly have seen the most "DO NOTHING" Congress we have ever had. The time for debate is over. It is now time for action. We are in dire need of a plan to become energy independent but we have had that need for decades. Get off your butt and do something now because tomorrow may be too late. We have the capability and the resources to begin drilling for oil today but we do nothing. By doing nothing we continue to be held hostage by Foriegn oil companys as well as our own big oil companies. I urge you to permit exploration in Anwar and in other areas within and in the waters around the U.S. We have the best technology, systems and expertise are thus, certainly more capable and than any other nation on Earth of drilling for oil and natural gas in a way that is environmentally sound. It's literally crazy that the likes of the Chinese and Cubans are drilling in the Gulf 60 miles from our coast (I wonder where those spills will go) and the U.S. Congress refuses give American companies a chance to secure those resources for us. There may have been a reason for pause in the past, but technology has evolved and the energy situation now requires that you take a fresh look at the question and act in our national best interest. This is especially true since it can now, most experts agree, be done without harming the environment. Obsessing about some rare occurrence of an accident is what caused us (quite wrongly) to stop building nuclear plants. WE NEED TO USE OUR OWN RESOURCES HERE IN THE USA RATHER THAN IMPORT. EVERYONE IS BLAMING THE OIL COMPANIES FOR THE HIGH PRICE OF FUEL BUT NO ONE SAYS A THING ABOUT OPEC WHO HAS US BY THE THROAT. IT WOULD NOT HURT A THING TO DRILL IN ANWR AT THE TOP OF THE WORLD WHERE ABSOLUTELY NO ONE EVER VISITS OR SEES. OPEN UP ALL THE CAPPED WELLS WE ALREADY HAVE IN FLORIDA AND TEXAS AND WE WILL SEE IMMEDIATE RELIEF. JUST THE ANNOUNCEMENT TO THE WORLD THAT WE ARE OPENING UP THE USA TO DRILL AND BUILD MORE NUCLEAR REACTORS WILL SEND A MESSAGE TO OPEC THAT WE WILL WEEN OURSELVES OF THEIR OIL.This comment has been reported to the site manager. It is a sad day when we, the government, keep saying that we need to get away from foreign oil. BUT WE DON’T. There are several places to drill for oil on American soil and waters, pick one and start now. With today’s technology we have much better safety standards that would and are earth friendly that drilling for oil can be less harmful to the environment. It is time to start thinking about the needs of OUR country. Economically, it is hard for struggling families to keep changing there budgets on a weekly basis because of the ever changing gas prices. We, you, need to be worried about the economy of our country first and get it fixed. It is time for a change, a big change and this would be a big step in the right direction. Drill for OUR OIL.Last time I checked, everyone in the senate and congress were voted into that office, YOU CAN BE VOTED OUT!

I am sick and tired of the skyrocketing costs of gasoline and heating fuel, due to a shortage of available crude oil, while our representives do their best to block oil companies from drilling for crude oil, that we have on our own land. Needless to say: I'm just as sick of hearing our representatives blame big oil for all the woes. I'm reminded of an expression we liked to use in The Coast Guard. It describes , in a vulgar way, someone doing you an injustice, and blaming bad weather. This comment has been reported to the site manager. It will be reviewed and removed if inappropriate. All of the other suggestions for solving our energy dependency is "pie in the sky thinking". Only using our own resources will solve the problem "now". Not only could drilling our own country help to solve our depencency from forign sources for our oil, but it would help the unemployment problem, because our people would have to be hired to do the work. It could help the economy in general, because the people that are employed would spend their money in the USA. It would help us get the best possible alternative energy sources, becuase we would not have our backs against the wall while we are looking for them. This comment has been reported to the site manager. I urge you to please begin drilling in ANWR and other domestic drilling. Our budgets simply cannot take higher gas prices that will come in the future if we continue to depend upon foreign oil.Along those lines as a representative of my husband and I, please do everything you can to prevent a windfall profits tax on oil companies. This will do nothing but increase our cost of gas at the pump. Do not allow scientifically flawed environmentalists cripple our economy.
Your job represent those of us who hired you, not special interest groups, thats all we ask.

The country runs on oil and will continue to do so for a number of years even with the most optimistic eye toward alternative fuels. High energy costs will wreck our economy. Relying on hostile foreign countries for our energy needs is foolish. We cannot legislate our way out of this situation. Poor legislation is what got us here in the first place. Release the restraints and let us drill our own oil. This comment has been reported to the site manager. It will be reviewed and removed if inappropriate. Thank you!

The energy crisis is not due to any lack of raw materials. There is plenty of oil and plenty of coal which can be converted to liquid fuels (which burn much cleaner than oil). The problem is a lack of intelligence in Congress!
Get the Hell out of the way--ALLOW DRILLING -- ENCOURAGE COAL TO LIQUID PRODUCTION-- STOP THE WASTEFUL/EXPENSIVE ETHANOL SUBSIDIES!
Get rid of all those environmental regulations which were meant to prevent the construction of new refineries.
STOP those silly hearings in which to try to blame the oil industry for the sins of Congress.

The USA must begin to start drilling for oil in ANWR. I have been to the oil rigs in Bass Strait, Australia, and marine life of all kinds thrive. Oil companies can no longer afford to have oil spills or gas leaks. The loss of revenue by itself is far too much for them but if you add in the legal consequences from fines and compensation in addition to the costs of cleaning up the mess you begin to understand why this is so.In ANWR we will see an explosion of the caribou population once oil production begins.
The USA can no longer afford to be so selfish with its considerable natural resources.

You are all out of touch and totally lacking in common sense and I am sick of it, as are MANY of my fellow Americans- good hard working people all!
IF any of you have any spine and a few brain cells left, then YOU MUST support efforts to drill IN AMERICA for AMERICAN oil. DRILL IN ANWAR! Its OUR oil, its OUR decision, NOT YOURS! Do what WE tell you. Tell the idiot Enviro-weenies to shut up and go home. We ALL care about the environment, but we need to get out oil NOW to buy us time to work on alternatives - SMART alternative, not the boondoggle stupidity of corn ethanol....did any of you actually GO to school? Anyone with a brain and a 6th grade education can see THAT was a BAD idea.
Stop lying to us and pandering to the special interests. WE THE PEOPLE are not stupid, we see what you are and what you are doing. Clean your rooms children or WE THE PEOPLE will clean them for you!

The current energy problem goes beyond cost of fuels for transportation, winter will soon be upon us, heating our homes, cooking our foods and the "General Welfare" of our Nations Citizens is at stake. I for one do not like being cold. Alternative engery sources will not become available for 15 to 20 years in the future. If action is not taken and soon we will be reduced to a second class nation. I think that it is preposterous that we are not allowing ourselves to drill for oil in our own country. All of you talk about finding ways to end our dependence on foreign oil, but not a single one of you has the balls to stand up and do something about it. The solution is right before us, unfortunately no one wants to make a stand against the lobbyists and special interests. Are we so far gone that we cannot promote our own thoughts; our own ideas. I thought that this was a country for the people, by the people. The ones that we elected (i.e. YOU), the men we chose to be our voice, remain silent and do nothing. Meanwhile, China is drilling for oil in the Gulf of Mexico. They are drilling our oil, right out from under us. Any person that allows a foreign nation, especially a nation of questionable character, they SHOULD ALL BE TRIED AND PUNISHED FOR TREASON. All of you in the Senate and Congress are just letting our country be destroyed so that you can line your pockets with special interest monies for you next campaign or because you are afraid that you might hurt someone's feelings. If you don't do something about rising gas prices, and do them soon, there won't be another campaign, at least not a successful one. We elected you to represent us, the PEOPLE! If I stop spending money, and millions of other people stop spending money because we have to buy gasoline, then this great nation will cease to exist as we know it know. I'm sick of irrational 'leaders'. This is NOT the country I defended. Don't you realize that all a politician has to do to be propelled to national acclaim is to figure out simple things that the rest of us knew long ago? Take a basic concept like drilling for oil for energy independence. Real tough! Right up there with interrogating enemy prisoners who want to kill us. Or NOT printing money for economic stimulus, letting the market handle our healthcare and energy, telling the UN to go to hell, and recognizing that Mexico, Venezuela, Iran, Islamic radicals, ELF, ACORN, CAIR, NBC, and half the democrat party has declared war on the people of the United States. These are not tough concepts to grasp if your mind isn't too cloudy from cocktailing with Rhodes scholars in DC.Taxing oil companies and telling me that my price will drop because of it is so damn stupid that your ignorance has to be contrived. Really. If you are that stupid, you will no doubt be wondering someday who all the people with pitchforks and torches in front of your grossly overly expensive office building are.
If I have unfairly accused you of a stance that you did not personally take, it is because I have so little interest in you personally and prefer to take unfocused glances whenever I feel the need to evaluate congress’ latest lapse of rational thought and all I see is hundreds of Harry Reeds and Nancy Pelosis. (call me an unfair, heterosexual white male bully if it soothes you)
If you don’t personally bash taxes or Islamic extremists, or global government, or sustainable community development, or the litany of non-binding resolutions, or enemies of our constitution then it is hardly my fault that your voice was not heard above the din of your colleagues’ collective madness. In that case, say something. Otherwise, you are just another sickly ward of the state not paying your fair share at the Senate cafeteria. (How could you not be embarrassed about THAT???? God! I could write for hours about you people and not repeat anything. You people make me physically ill.)
I predict that neither Mr. Magoo nor Hussein Osama will be our next president. America can not be half as stupid as congress!
An ageless asked in America at the twilight of hard battles where real heroes gave their lives so that we could be free is, Where do we get such men? The question is always asked with grave reverence to men who land on steel shredded beaches and climb to their deaths over cliffs with their only hope to kill at least one enemy. I ask that same question about a congress who wants to pass the Law of the Sea Treaties and give half our GDP to the UN, only without a trace of reverence and with genuine hostility. Not an ounce of courage in the august halls of our congress. Just who do you people represent? Don’t tell me it’s us in America.
Just drill for oil now. Maybe someday real men will run for and serve in congress to fix the rest.

When is America going to make a sensible long term plan for energy? What if we DO buy vehicles that get better fuel economy? What if we do cut back on wasteful use of energy in our homes?
THE OUTRAGEOUS FLOOD OF IMMIGRATION, LEGAL AND OTHERWISE THAT YOU ARE PROMOTING IS GOING TO MORE THAN MAKE UP FOR ANYTHING WE CAN DO TO USE LESS ENERGY.
MASSIVE IMMIGRATION IS MAKING EVERY PROBLEM WE HAVE WORSE ! Education, natural resources, energy use, conversion of farm and forest land to parking lots. All of these horrors are being driven by EXCESS IMMIGRATION.
If we drill in every possible place where oil and gas can be found our exploding population will use it all up and we will be worse off in the long run. CONTROL POPULATION GROWTH BY INITIATING A MORITORIUM ON IMMIGRATION until we can find out how many people are here on expired visas and who are here just plain illegally.
Support the SAVE act! Support HR 4987 (restore the fence). ====Get serious about America's future!

It's time for action! I fear the citizens of the United States of America, are about to lose their rights to drill and refine oil in this country forever, if some action isn't taken now . We can not afford to continue letting the leftist, eco-nuts, with their so called man made global warming mantra run this GREAT COUNTRY into the ground. I was raised a democrat and voted that way for several years thinking I had to be loyal to the party I inherited. However, I changed to republican this year because my eyes were opened to the true democratic agenda, socialism, marxism, communism!!! I have a new cause now, FREEDOM! GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!This comment has been reported to the site manager. It will be reviewed and removed if inappropriate. Thank you!

ARE YOU PEOPLE INSANE???????????Why are we not drilling in ANWR and off the coasts, in the Gulf etc?? Why are the Chinese, the Cubans and the Mexicans allowed to be doing so, but NOT the US/us????????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Why are we NOT USING the other resources we have, SUCH AS THE PLENTIFUL SHALE OIL FINDS IN THE WESTERN STATES OF OUR COUNTRY?????????
Why is not COAL LIQUIFICATION on the FRONT burner????????? INSTEAD OF BEING IGNORED??
YOU SAY/TELL US THAT YOU WANT US TO BE LESS RELIANT ON FOREIGN OIL, THAT WE ARE "ADDICTED" TO IT, --- BUT YOU NEGLECT TO SAY HOW IN THE WORLD THAT WILL EVER HAPPEN, IF WE ARE NOT DOING THAT WHICH IS OBVIOUS TO ALL -- BUT YOU ELITISTS IN THE GOVERNMENT - WHO ARE DENYING US THE ABILITY TO BRING US TO SELF-RELIANCE!!!!!!
NO REFINERIES BUILT IN WELL OVER 30 YEARS ---- HOW RIDICULOUS!!!!
WHILE REFINERIES ARE BEING BUILT AND MORE DRILLING HAPPENING ALL OVER THE REST OF THE GLOBE...............GO FIGURE!!!!!!!!!!!!
AND WHAT ABOUT 'NUCLEAR' POWER. FRANCE IS USING MORE THAN 70 PERCENT NUCLEAR FOR THEIR POWER. AND CAN YOU TELL ME, WHEN IS THE LAST TIME FRANCE HAD A PROBLEM WITH NUCLEAR POWER, HMMMMMMMMMM???????????????? NOOOOOOO - YOU CAN'T!!!!!!!!! BECAUSE
IT HAS NEVER HAPPENED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
DO YOU KNOW THAT ALL - "REPEAT ALL" - OF THE NUCLEAR WASTE THAT HAS EVER BEEN GENERATED HERE, WOULD FIT IN A BUILDING THE SIZE OF A HIGH SCHOOL GYMNASIUM????????
WHAT ABOUT THAT????????
WE CITIZENS KNOW WHAT IS BEST FOR US, MORE SO THAN YOU SO-CALLED "LEADERS" IN THE GOVERNMENT AND YOUR WILLING ASSOCIATES IN THE MEDIA AND THE ENVIRONMENTALIST MOVEMENTS.............
YOU HAVE CONVENIENTLY FORGOTTEN THAT YOU WORK FOR US -- NOT THE OTHER WAY AROUND!!! BUT WE HAVE NOT FORGOTTEN!! EVEN THOUGH YOU ARE TRYING IN ALL WAYS POSSIBLE TO GIVE US AMNESIA!! STARTING WITH THE DUMBING DOWN OF OUR CHILDREN THROUGH THE "PUBLIC" SCHOOLS. AND DON'T EVEN GET ME STARTED ON THAT ONE.
SOON WE MAY BE FORCED TO BE MARCHING ON THE CAPITAL, IF WE DO NOT HAVE MOVEMENT ON THIS EXTREMELY NECESSARY UNDERTAKING.................
GET OFF YOUR DUFFS!! AND BRING US THAT WHICH WILL IMPROVE OUR ECONOMY, TAKE US OFF THE RELIANCE OF THOSE WHO WOULD KILL US, AND MAKE US SELF-RELIANT BY USING OUR OWN RESOURCES.
YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED. WE WILL REMEMBER WHEN YOUR NEXT ELECTION CYCLE HAPPENS!!!!! AND ---- THAT'S JUST A FEW MONTHS AWAY FOR YOU, MR. ALTMIRE!!! I VOTE CONSERVATIVELY, AND CONSISTENTLY!!!
A DEEPLY DISAPPOINTED CONSTITUENT, LOOKING FOR CHANGE!!!! BUT NOT THE TYPE OBAMA IS TOUTING.................

Enough is enough!!Let's quit acting like ostriches with our heads in the sand. We have more oil here in the US
offshore and onshore than the rest of the world!! Why in the world are we letting China and
India drill 50 miles off the coast of Florida with the added technology of being able to slant
drill and get the oil under our own soil??
This is insanity. Or, could it be that the government's share of the oil prices at around 50 cents
per dollar is keeping you guys from having an incentive to lift the environmental restrictions on
drilling here in the US?
That would be a crime and a shame if it is true.
Do the job we elected you to do; protect this country and use the common sense that seems to be
lost once one starts hanging around Washington too long. What would our Forefathers do in this
situation?
Do you think that Thomas Jefferson, Ben Franklin, or John Adams would sitting around on their
hands while this calamity was going on with their country? You had better do something soon
before it's too late. This is a national emergency.
Everyone else in the world is drilling for their oil and utilizing their natural resources (ie. Brazil,
which is totally energy independent. Which is an EMBARRASSMENT for the United States).
What is wrong with our country doing the same and using the advanced technology to do
it in an ENVIRONMENTALLY SAFE WAY?
We can do this! Let's get it done now! We don't want to hear about this or that or how long
the legislation will take to get started. In a business, you don't have the luxury of time to dawdle
on important decisions. Sometimes you may have a day, but usually it's hours and most
of the time minutes or SECONDS to make decisions.
Why is it that we everyday business people, the citizens of the US can do this, but you guys
in Washington can't? The answer is that you can if you really wanted to.
So look yourself in the mirror, imagine the Founding Fathers standing behind you watching
and waiting to see what decisions you will make in this crisis that our beloved United States
of America is facing today.
Good luck and Godspeed.
Sincerely,
Michael Lane
p.s. This letter is not intended just to ask for the restrictions on ANWR to be lifted, but all of the
other restrictions on the other sources of oil we have in the US (Colorado shale, offshore continental
shelf, etc.) All with environmentally friendly technology of course.

We should be drilling everywhere in this country where we know there is oil and the congress should get out of the way and let the American people do what we do best, make this the best country in the world. This comment has been reported to the site manager. If past Presidents would not have vetoed this bill, we'd already be free from oversea and enemy oil.Drill today in ANWR and save our country!

It is criminal not to allow this drilling. Those Polititons who obstruct these efforts at discovery, do great harm to the American people, just to curry favor with Left wing political supportors. These actions are UN-AMERICAN at the least and TREASONIOUS at the most. This comment has been reported to the site manager. It will be reviewed and removed if inappropriate. Thank you!
