  1. Elected Officials:

I do not want a hand-out - I do not want my gains to be at the expense of others -

I do ask, however, that you act to provide relief to surging oil prices - brought on by the inability to respond to global increases in demand. The United States needs to limit their foreign oil dependance, we need to recognize that we ARE dependant right now, and we need to act to resolve said dependance. Drilling for resources that are our countries resources, given to us by our Creator, is one way to act.

This is not an issue where taxing oil companies will provide resolve. This is absolutely the wrong approach, and an approach that I believe will increase prices of oil. Much like the recent increase in unemployment, and a correlation with an increase in minimum wage. Companies are in business to make profits - perhaps more should look at the profits of utilities, and credit card companies.

Allow prayer to guide your decisions - to make the right decisions, not the most politically-advantageous decisions.

  3. It is ridiculous that we are not drilling for oil in the ANWR and in other areas of the United States. I can't tell you how disappointed I am in most members of the U.S. House and Senate. Those who oppose developing our own resources are either ignorant of the facts or catering to a special interest groups for their own benefit. Either way, it is absolutely appalling, and I am disgusted. I have a degree in Economics and our current challenges with energy are a result of poor energy policies on the part of those now pointing their fingers at the Major Oil Companies. The American people will figure this out over time and the fault will fall squarely on the shoulders of you, as or representatives and the people of America who you have hoodwinked.

  5. Along with the drilling in ANWR, I believe you can do something about the price of gas ASAP!!!!!!!!!!!

  7. Please convince me that there is a good reason for not drilling for our own oil. The environmentalists are a very small minority, but seem to be able to dictate the future of our country. In addition to not being able to drill for oil in ANWAR the oil companies are not permitted to drill in the Guilf of Mexico. China is drilling for OUR OIL within 50 miles of our coast and I am quite sure that they are going to be very careful to protect the environment.

If you tell me that it is to limit the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere there is more than ample evidence that the sunspot cycles are causing "global warming" and not carbon dioxide. Around 6000 years ago a great deal of the polar ice cap melted and teh polar bear is still with us. Think about it. If more land would be exposed, more small animals would be available for the polar bears to eat.

You are telling the oil comanies that they must not rely on foreign oil, but you give them no options.

I trust that you realize that all of this nonsense is really doing a number on my 401K and IRA's.

I am sure that you will do the right thing.

  9. As long as the oil from ANWR was given the condition for Domestic use, it is foolish not to drill. If you choose not to drill, I think your jobs are in jeopardy. If you vote against it, you have no concept of business. The $4.00 a gallon price for gas impact is being felt. Driving is down. Tourism will be hit. Groceries are going up. Savings rates are diminishing.

  11. Don't you dare sign that bill today, on 6/10/08! IT WILL RAISE GAS PRICES!!! and you know it, you don't even care you punk, remember who you work for US!!!, and just think, you do this and it does turn out to raise prices? guess who is not going to be re elected next time? YOU!!! So you need to listen to the american people, we desperately need your help in lowering gas prices, and taxing the oil companies will only take more money out of our pocket, the people who you work for, the oil companies will pas that tax right on to us, so go ahead, let gas hit $5 and lets see america overthrow their representatives. You need to get out of your fantasy world, people who don't live in cities cant just go and drive an electric car! and lets see how many people are going to continue following your insane Global warming "Green" cult like movement when they cant HEAT THEIR HOMES AND FREEZE TO DEATH THIS WINTER!!! because the price of home heating oil is over $4.25 a gallon!!! Hey, why don't you stop worrying about something that hasn't even been proven and start worrying about the people you work for!!!

  13. Gentlemen,
It is illogical to not use the rescources we have. If we do not build refineries and drill for oil it will be your fault for the impending downturn in American living. You are responsable for our predicament, not the oil companies. You and the (environmentalist) have successfully stopped our own production and made us dependant on other nations for oil. Drill in Alaska, off shore, and anywhere we can! We are not stupid. Build the plants, release the restrictions, and promote the welfare of the United States of America.

  15. I hear Congress wants to sue OPEC for limiting oil supplies. From my point of view, Congress is the one who is guilty of limiting oil supplies. Between Anwar, the Atlantic Coast, The Pacific Coast, and all of the shale oil deposits found within our borders, there is no excuse for depending on foreign sources for oil.

People are finding out the truth! There will be more and more pressure on Congress to free our resources. I'd suggest that you get ahead of the curve, and start freeing our oil NOW!

One more thing. Environmental wackos make up an extremely small percentage of voters. Why do you pay attention to them?

  19. It is insane that other countries can drill for oil right off of our shores but we can't. Extreme environmentalists have exploited our success and growth. Other countries are looking and doing what they want to find fuel. Why can't we?

  21. I'm so tired of hearing it takes ten years to benefit from drilling in our own land to reap any benefits. Well get started today! If the Democrats and the Clintons would have allowed us to drill ten years ago when they made this statement, then we'd be reaping the benefits now and wouldn't be paying $4+ a gallon for gas! Why are we still dependent on other nations to get our oil when we are fully capable of supply it ourselves in our own lands? It makes no sense to me or my friends. Cease dependence on foreign oil purchases and allow us to drill NOW! Thanks, sincerely, Mrs. A. Locke

  23. Drill Here and Drill Now!!! I will question y'alls patriotism if you do not allow Americans to drill and mine for our own energy!!! How about Nuclear energy plants??? You can not run a country on wind mills and solar screens!!! Maybe you's should want to put the United States of America before you'self!!!

  25. Get these numb skull members of congress to get off the backs of the environmentalist and dig our oun oil starting with Anwar. Any kindergarden kid could figure out if you don't have something go get it yourself. The Dems have been turning down our own digging since Billy Clinton. We could of already been supplying our own . The Arabs love you guys.

  29. I fail to see the reason behind not drilling for Oil & Gas in our own territories. Why has congress blocked all oil refinery construction? I just don’t get it.
What the nations of OPEC have done, is declared War on the free world, yet congress continues to drag it’s collective butt and has not put up or passed any meaningful energy solutions. The last I believe was decades ago. Wind and Solar only go so far. Ethanol from corn is a joke. Ethanol from sugar cane or saw grass would have been a better choice, as well as being cheaper to produce.
Why are we not building Nuclear Power Stations? If the Military can run Reactors without problems, then let the military run them instead of us “peasants”. (This is what we all may become.)
I don’t blame this on the President, after all only he can only suggest this or that. It’s CONGRESS I blame, and my voting will reflect this come November.
    Thank You for your time

  31. NOT DRILLING FOR OUR OWN OIL IS A STUPID AS NOT GROWING OUR OWN FOOD OR HARVESTING OUR TREES FOR LUMBAR. I AM REAL SORRY I ELECTED THE IDIOTS WHO GET PAID TO MAKE GOOD DECISIONS FOR ME.

  33. It's time to produce something in this country. Stop preventing progress and let us drill our own resources while we strive to implement new alternative energy sources such as Nuclear Power, Solar Power, and Geothermal technologies. It is time to get serious about reducing soaring fuel costs and stop relying on foreign oil!!!!!!!

  35. I know the long lasting solution to the energy 'crisis' is not to rely on fossil fuels, but until we find a way to effectively and efficiently mass produce a renewable energy we need to use it. It's doesnt make sence to me to sit on this valueable resource while people are struggling to pay the bills as it is.

  37. I know the long lasting solution to the energy 'crisis' is not to rely on fossil fuels, but until we find a way to effectively and efficiently mass produce a renewable energy we need to use it. Look at what biofuels are doing to food prices. They are worse than gas prices.

  39. What are you trying to do? Destroy our countrys economy. We need to use the oil and coal we have in this country. China and India are angle drilling 50 miles of the cost of Floridia to get to our oil.
What made you think using food (ethonal) to fuel our cars was a good idea?
Drilling in ANWR is a no brainer but you don't seem to have one. The Democratic party said it would lower the cost of gas if they win the House and Senate.

    Sincerely, the Simon family

  41. I wish someone could explain to me, or come up with one good reason why we do not drill for our own oil? You guys are supposedly intelligent, with all of the new technologies and our abilities as Americans we could solve this problem within a relatively short period of time and start working on other issues.
Isn't anyone interested in the wellbeing of the United States? Do you care? None of these things should be happening and we elect you to look out for us and DO what is in the citizens of the USA best interests not just your own and YOUR bank accounts. There is aboslutely no reason that the price of gas, milk corn, bread, etc., etc., etc should be as high as they are. You politicians create more waste just by talking and doing nothing. Come down here where we are and see what it is like trying to survive under your so called leadership. We need a change all right and I guess we should start with you.

  45. Drilling on 2000 acres in a 1.5 million acre piece of frozen tundra will not endanger any species of man or animal. Allow the drilling not only in Anwr, but on all American soil. Drilling today is safe and environmentally non toxic. Please take the time to view the attached website to hear a rebuttal to Al Gores AIT. It is interesting and factual. http://www.friendsofscience.org/index.php?id=172

  47. Please, please, please allow drilling in ANWAR! and off our shores (where China and Cuba ARE drilling). We cannot afford these high gas prices. You are destroying our economy by continuing to prevent drilling for our OWN oil!

I appreciate Senators Brown and Voinovich helping to kill the ugly Cap and Trade legislation last week. That was a step in the right direction to HELP our economy.

Now PLEASE go the next step and allow drilling and more refining, too.

    Thank you!

  49. I believe we are being held hostage by the radical left, denying us the ability we have but do not use to be energy independent. While I also support research and development of alternative fuel sources, our short term interests include freeing up our own oil and natural gas reserves. This includes shale oil development as well as environmentally sensitive drilling in ANWR.

We sit idly by while other countries drill off our own shores, but deny ourselves access to our own reserves. I read in multiple sources that we hold the key to our own independence, but Congress doesn't lead, it reacts to polls.

What would the world be like today had the country's leaders listened to the America First movement in the 30's and stayed out of WWII? It took courage to go against what many felt was the "right"
course and did the right thing.

Of great countries and people are required great courage and sacrifice. Ideas such as keeping taxes high to lower demand on oil are absurd, the habits are too ingrained to change overnight and higher taxes will simply put more of a load on average Americans - in their pocketbooks.

Our economy is suffering from lack of hope, optimism and a sense of only the "short term."

As my elected "leaders" I expect you all to take a leadership position before we become a 2nd rate country. Stop our dependence on foreign sources of our most important resource and begin strong steps to develop our own sources - sources we know are there and could supply our energy needs for decades to come - time enough to develop alternative sources and change the habits of Americans by their own desire to do so.

The time is now. You have the full attention of all Americans who pay record levels for oil and gas - resources we have no choice at this time but to rely on. Perhaps it is Congress' lack of need to pay their own gas costs, perhaps it's simply a lack of leadership skills, lack of courage to step forward in the face of a vocal, radical minority.

It is time to act, and to act courageously. Drill, explore, develop - and keep it at home. Your actions will determine your longevity in Congress. I voted for you, I support you, I defend you. Please defend my interests and provide us with a future.

  55. Thank you for starting this, I am a Truck Driver and if we keep depending on Opec, or the Goverment, to supply our fuel, we will not only be paying 10 dollers a gallion, but we will also run out of food. who's brain dead idia was it to burn corn for fuel. I saw a news story that the English, Truck Drivers shut down when there fuel reached 10 dollers a gallion, I have not herd if there back on the road yet, but that not only herts there country, also herts all other country's.

  57. This is insane! When we started our family I only worked 3 days per week. I now have to work full time because our fuel and food budgets have increased so drastically. By not drilling in ANWR we are saying that animals are more important than the American family. Try explaining that to my children!!

  59. We can not tax our way out of the pickle the Democrats are putting us into. It is unfortunate that most of the members of congress are independently wealthy and have not one care in the world what it cost for a gallon of gas, and in most cases they are on expenses paid by the government (We the people) and never realize the inpact of filling up their gas tank. They are the elite and it seems like they only want more seperation between themselves and us commom working stiffs. We have enough oil within 100 miles of out boarders and shores that we could establish energy independence and tell the oil creeps in the middle east to pound sand, and use their oil to lubricate it and make the pain a little less. Why do we have foreign countries drilling 50 miles off our coast and we can not do it ourselves, and we permit them to drill thousands of miles away from their county but yet we restrict our petrolium companies form doing the same? These idiots think now that we can sue other countries into submission, they should take that show on the road, it's hillarious. About 235 years ago, we established a fereral goverment for two purposes, deliver the mail and protect our doarders. This is not a trick question, which are they doing to our satisfaction?

It seems like they want to make a third world country out of us. Capitalism made us the most powerful and prosperious nation on the gloge, and now with congress beoing the opposite of progress, they seem to be bent on fixing the inequalities.

  73. Please allow drilling in the US....My wife and I are now paying over $600.00 a month in gas just driving to work and home. We are both teachers, and do not see why the interests of our country are not being looked out for. I find it hard to believe that CONGRESS is selling our great country down the river by letting countries like China and Nigeria drill off our coasts for oil. What has happened to our officials? Do you work for us or the special interests of the environmentalists? Why is it that I can see that the need for drilling is crucial for our nations survival? All over the world other countries are developing their resources but not us. Why can we not produce our own resources while we are working on creating new energy technology? Do we have to put all of our eggs in one basket? Please allow drilling and stop listening to the special interests and listen to the people that elected you. You all have made a promise to uphold the Constitution and to date you have not been doing that. Work together come up with a plan and lead the way. This is a great opportunity for you to create jobs in Ohio by introducing legislation that could help create refineries, clean coal burning plants and even a coal to gas refinery. All these types of plants would create construction jobs plus industries to support these as well.

  75. Please listen, I am a twenty year old who greatly loves his country and needs his voice to be heard, to make a difference, and to save the american way of life.

Our great nation is under attack, its a slow moving wave that is destroying our way of life. Our own government is taking control of the free market. Please, you must try and do something, anything you can to convince your fellow representatives of congress to stand up for us. The worst part, is that its not the Oil companies to blame, Its you, Its our government, you are putting so much restrictions on oil companies that with greater demand and no where to get it from, they have no choice but to raise the price to lower the demand so that they don't run out! This is exactly what the liberals want, they want us to drive smaller cars, turn our heat down, buy less food, well you tell those PUNKS that millions of americans cant afford to go out and buy a new Toyota Prius, they need to feed their families, and drive them to school, you try driving 5 kids to school in a Prius!

Families cant always afford to buy the expensive healthy food that are "Green" (maybe because they now spend hundreds a week on gas?) and to say that its a FACT that the climate is changing because of humans is absolutely insane, when you look at the real facts, not opinions of "Climatologists" and the all knowing King of the colt-like "Green" movement Al Gore, it just isn't logical. the co2 in the atmosphere has been rising steadily since the 1850's and that is a fact. What right do they have to tell us what temperature to heat our home at! What kind of country tells their people what kind of car to drive, what size house they can have, what to eat, where to take their children to school? There is no alternative fuel source because 95% of americans just cant afford to switch! The only solution would be to bring our worlds top minds together for a Manhattan Project-like Project to create a new battery that can be charged extremely fast and work for a long time, and it's almost here.

E85 has taken food off our tables, and is extremely inefficient to produce, There is a reason the second amendment was created, to protect the american people from tyranny of an oppressive government that takes away our basic rights, like the rights of a free market, from a government who controls the price of our basic necessities and drives it up because of their own political and financial gain. So how would you like to see the second amendment come to life? Millions of americans standing up for their basic rights their four fathers gave to us and over throw the house and senate and to have our voices heard! Their is a serious lack of leadership in americas leaders. So never say "I cant," If I, a regular american, can convince you that our country is headed for disaster, than maybe you can convince your colleagues, and they can spread the word, that if times don't change, our country and the principles it was founded on are all but lost. All the brave men and women that died in all our countries battles, the millions lost that lost their lives so their friends, family, and fellow americans could live, would have been for what? for freedom? well guess what, freedom is almost dead. if our four fathers could see America today, what do you think they would have to say?

The worst part about it is that its our own government that is destroying us, not some insane group of cowards who wishes us dead, but our own elected officials, the men and women we trusted with our lives are the very same people who will be responsible for ending it. Both sides are to blame, Liberals, you are letting the voices of few scream louder than the desperate cries of millions, and conservatives, you need to stand up for your beliefs! Is this how you wanted to run things? is this what you told the people who voted for you what you would do? If you don't take action soon you will loose all power and the democrats will control 2/3's of our government! Do the right thing, lets save America before America is completely gone. Lets Drill here, Drill NOW and Pay LESS!!!

  77. As I pay $4.18 a gallon for gas, I'm reminded of the lack of good judgment in Washington. Poor choices made over the last 15 years have led to our current situation. Now, our entire economy is being damaged by these decisions. I wonder to whom our Senators and Representatives owe their allegiance. It is certainly not to us, the people & citizenry of the United States! Special interests have seized control of you who govern in this great land - unfortunately, they are delighted in the crippling of our economy to the end of bringing the U.S. down to the level of all other peoples in the world.
It is senseless for us to be paying the prices we are paying for gas, diesel, and all goods delivered by vehicles powered by these fuels when we have our own vast supply of oil to tap into.
It is our plea: Please wake up and let the drilling in Anwar and other sites begin!!
If not, it is my hope there's enough resolve outside Washington to replace you with individuals who will not forget us outside the beltway.

  81. Drill Here, Drill Now, Save Money!

Senator Mikulski, Senator Cardin, Congressman Hoyer - YOU are costing us money at the pumps. Your party took over both houses of Congress in 2006 promising us a sensible plan to reduce gas prices and have delivered NOTHING but PRICE INCREASES since YOU TOOK OVER.

You claim that your party stands for the little guy - well help the little guy now or expose yet again your hypocrisy. Get off the political party band wagon and get on the USA band wagon - let the Alaskans go after their own oil - under the environmental protections of our laws and regulations vs. Saudis producing more and more with no environmental constraints. Stop preventing us from harvesting our own bounty for the benefit of the entire country.

Stop partisan rancor and support the best interests of America and Americans for once!

  85. I am an owner/operator in the trucking industry since 1978 and this current lack of congress doing the right thing will put me out of business! Congress has been working on putting the O/O trucker out of business, such as....cross border trucks from canada and mexico, not passing a fuel surcharge bill so I can get the surcharge 100% of what the companies charge! Now we need to drill in ANWR plus stop the addiction to epa and tree hugger ways! Congress needs to stop the need of trying to come up with new ways to tax us like toll roads already bought and paid for by my tax dollars and stop S3036!! As my representative in congress you need to get back to basics and work on bills that reduce gov. spending, remove the layers of bills that make it harder to earn a living, stop the pork and reduce my taxes!!!

I AM ALL FOR ALTERNATIVE FUELS BUT WE ARE A LONG WAY OFF FROM DEVELOPING THESE TECHNOLOGIES. WE ARE THE ONLY MAJOR COUNTRY THAT IS NOT EXPANDING OUR OWN OIL SUPPLY AND TAPPING OUR OWN RESOURCES. THIS IS REALLY WRONG AND YOU NEED TO CHANGE AND DRILL FOR OIL OR WE ARE GOING TO RISE UP AND THROW YOU ALL OUT OF OFFICE. DO IT NOW. NO MORE LAME EXCUSES. DRILL FOR OIL NOW!

  93. With all due respect, sir, I feel the need to say my piece on a topic far too important to remain silent on any longer.

Punishing the oil companies for trying to do their job in the face of extortive foreign oil prices is NOT the answer to our current gas crisis. Drilling for our OWN oil supply - whether in ANWR, the Dakotas, or anywhere else in our territory - is the first part of how we get our prices back down. If we increase the supply, we decrease the demand. Thus, the prices at the pump will go down, because the oil companies will not have to charge as much in order to make a good working profit on their product.

Part II of the solution: new and/or upgraded American-owned refineries. We haven't done anything to improve our refining capability in this country for decades, and we are suffering for it now. Don't make my son suffer for it, too, when it's his turn to take the wheel.

Ten years ago, I remember the price of gas being as low as 89 cents a gallon. If I have my math right, that means the price of gas has increased nearly 300 PERCENT in the last decade. This could have been EASILY avoided.

This letter, and those of my like-minded fellow citizens of West Virginia and the United State of America, constitutes fair warning. Our government's actions, or lack thereof, concerning our current gas situation have been weighed and measured by those who allow said government to exist at all -- namely, US -- and have been found severely wanting. If our representatives in the State and Federal houses of power cannot come up with something more concrete to fix this problem than distracted talking points, abusive taxation policies, and blaming the private sector for their public mistakes (and, sir, it is becoming more apparent by the day that they cannot), then it is time for said representatives to sit down, shut up, and get the hell out of the way so that private citizens and businessmen can do it for them.

We, the people, are watching you. Screw this up any further, and we will remember it come the next election cycle. You have been warned.

    Your humble constituent.

  97. It is imperative that our energy resources are developed to the fullest extent possible. We need to extract ourselves from the cartel and extract oil from our own vast reserves. Going "Green" is not the answer and will do little except cause harm to the economy and people's lives. Change in the climate is not being caused by human interaction. The models are flawed and are being used as political tools.

  99. I feel that it is essential that we invest more resources into reliable alternative energy options to reduce our overall dependence on fossil fuels. However, there does not appear to be a viable alternative in the near future which means that we are still going to have to rely on oil as one of our primary sources of energy for years to come. We need to reduce our dependence on foreign, especially Saudi and Venezuelan, oil. We can’t continue to be beholden to countries who are clearly opposed to the western, capitalist world. As a result I believe that our best option is to begin drilling for our own resources in ANWR. We are able to drill using new technologies that will greatly minimize any type of environmental impact and our self sufficiency will far out way whatever issues may arise. It is foolish to not stress and invest in alternative energy research however it is even more foolish to not use our own resources, which are available now, to try and solve our growing energy issues.

  103. Tapping our own national and off-shore oil resources should be a no-brainer...
Especially as rapidly emergent China is competing for both existing as well as potential sources of fuel.
Their growing military, economic and political might will not be kind to their erstwhile enemy (US) when crude prices soar and supplies dwindle.
If we don't do this NOW, we will lose the chance to avoid catastrophe so fast we won't know what hit us.
Please wake up and understand that if we don't do this NOW, we will become yesterday's has-been country even quicker than our slide to the left will inevitably bring us one way or the other anyway.

  107. It is time for us to use our own resources to end our dependence on foreign oil. The technologies for alternative fuels are not yet viable. Certainly we need to develop alternative fuels, but we need to use our own oil to get us out of this crunch.I understand that it will take some time to get going, but the sooner we start the sooner we can see the increased supply affect the price of oil and lower the cost. We could also be an exporter of oil to other nations and boost the GNP.

  109. Drilling may not nessecarily be the end all solution, but it sure is a start. If we begin drilling now we may not see the effects of it for a few more years. So why not start the process now, this way we can get a little relief. While we drill, we need to continue the research for alternate sources of energy, because yes that should be the ultimate goal. By the time we find this alternate source of energy it might be ten, twenty, or thirty years from now, and if we hold out on drilling, where the the gas prices be then? Why not give the people that you were elected to represent a little relief. I believe that this drilling will also stimulate massive economic growth, by bringing new jobs to the people that need build, and run the refinery's, and not to mention keeping the profit made from this oil in the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. I'm sure that I am not the only one who thinks this way, and being that you were appointed by the people for the people, LISTEN, i think the people have spoken.

  111. Legistators wake up. American's should not be at the mercy of others for our energy needs. At this time, the most effective form of energy is oil. Keep researching, keep encouraging the development of alternatives but STOP burning our food and start pumping oil until a better alternative exists.
And do NOT support Rep. Hinchey's hairbrain idea of gas price caps. Send him to an economics class! I was an infant when we had gas lines, I'm not interested in repeating my parents mistakes.

  113. I don't get it, why wouldn't you as a patriot do everything within your power to make this country as strong as possible? All you would have to do is announce that we are going to drill and the prices will drop. I know we can drill and save the environment!. Yes we are a great country and can overcome anything.

What about the Gulf? China is drilling in the Caribbean to get oil that should be ours??? I don't get it. I know that we can drill the oil and save the environment, we are the United States of America! We can do it, it will just take a few folks in the government with some guts and someone that is not pandering to special interests, like the environmental extremists. We can drill now and still work on alternative fuel sources!

We as a country can depend less on foreign oil and still develop better fuel sources. Just do something good for us!

  115. If I do not do my job, I get fired. I do not keep it for 2 years & also get raises. I am so fed up with the self centered attitude of Liberals. Telling us we need to share, pay more taxes, worry about people with out health care that aren't citizen or ever had a job. What about our senior citizens who continue to pay school taxes to keep thier homes? How are the senior on fixed incomes such as my parents & aunt suppose to be able to fill thier heating oil at $4.99 a gallon? Do they not eat, maybe not get medicine? What is more important, health care or heat? Being able to afford food or animals (that are multiplying) that you are trying to save? I realize since you are the wealthy & we are just the people who pay your salary you think you know better. Why is China drilling off the Florida coast & we are not? Why do we have 3 types of gas, who buy anything by low & high? Why do we need off road & on road diesel fuel? Why are there so many different types of gas made, why is there not a universal low test, high test & 1 diesel fuel. If the oil refineries did not have to shut down every week to change the type of fuel for each state, imagine the productivity, less cost, less down time. Are you sure that you all really are working for the people? This is basic business.

  117. We need to open the oil fields and stop being held hostage by the rest of the world. Let's have the price of our food. technology, medical supplies etc... increase by the same percentages as oil. Let's reduce our production of grain, etc... and see how the rest of the world likes that. Five years of suffering and this will increase corporate profits and taxes 100 times.

Please lower the cost of fuel Let us drill and lower our fuel taxes $.53 an gallon is rediculis, Oil companies only make $.08 on the dollar. Drill in Anwr! And anywhere else there is oil on US soil.

  121. Please vote to allow drilling and refineries to be built NOW not down the road years later. Had we done this originally we would not have $4.00/gallon fuel. Also Get with the program and let the NFL deal with their problems and stay out of it. Why am I and millions of other taxpayers paying for you to waste our money on the NFL and not lower fuel costs likd=e was promised before the 2006 election.

I say to you Mr. Altmire you promised to not vote for higher fuel costs and to protect our borders. Well I do not see any more wells being drilled or refineries being built.

I say to you Mr. Casey quit worrying about the the nothing of The Speaker of the house and make our tax cuts permanent, allow drilling and refining. Let ED Rendel flounder and not allow him to give away the turnpike and put tolls on I-80.

I say to you Mr. Specter quit worrying about the the nothing of The NFLand make our tax cuts permanent, allow drilling and refining. Let ED Rendel flounder and not allow him to give away the turnpike and put tolls on I-80

Cut Fuel costs by allowing more DRILLING and REFINING and NOT allow Chinese to drill off our coast. Protect our borders and WHO CARES ABOUT THE NFL. How many millions of dollars were wasted on that caper.

If you guys do not clean up and start to fly straight PROTECT OUR BORDERS, Fuel, Culture, and this is an ENGLISH SPEAKING STATE I LIVE IN.

YOU WILL NOT GET MY VOTE OTHERWISE

PS: I STUPIDLY voted for You Mr. Specter every election that you have run. Dumb ME

  131. This is an issue not only of the United State's ability to compete in a global marketplace but also one of national security. Oil & Gas exploration and the expansion of Nuclear power in the US is part of a strategic energy and environmental plan, taking the forward direction the US currently lacks. Make your decision based on our national interests and security; not that of specific environmental groups looking out for only their interests and not the greater good. Any wise energy policy must have room for environmental policies, exploration policies and alternative energy development. The current environmental policies have created a market that has not developed a new refinery or a nuclear power plant in 30 years, while Europe, Asia and the Middle East all continue to expand thier energy development technologies, pulling ahead of the United States. In the current restrictive and artifically created marketplace, the United States can not expect to compete and grow in a world economy. Energy exploration must not only be allowed, but also encouraged without delay.

Open drilling in Anwar and let refineries be built in and around America for the American public's sake. You the Congress are supposed to help keep America great not throw us in financial ruin. GOD SAVE AMERICA!!!!

  135. It is simply SICKENING that the people that WE THE PEOPLE ELECT TO REPRESENT US are turning around and NOT doing the will of the people that elected them that they are working for, but instead are doing their own will instead. Whatever happened to "By the People FOR the People"??? We have MORE THAN ENOUGH resources to end this charade and lower gas prices. The people you are truly hurting are the working class poor in this country, and there are a LOT more of us than your liberal elite buddies, so take note; WE WILL NOT VOTE FOR YOU AGAIN if you do not stop this insanity. You work at OUR pleasure, as our Founding Fathers intended, whether you realize that or not. Especially you "conservative" Republicans; get a clue, Congress is controlled by the Democrats because you messed up when you had the chance to FINALLY get this country going in the right direction. Bush was President AND we had Congress, and YOU ALL DID NOTHING YOU SAID YOU WOULD. I AM a voter, and my voice will be heard, and I have a LOT of people who agree with me.

  137. I am in favor of drilling for and refining oil in our own country, to reduce the dependence that we have on other countries. I am an intelligent person, and have done my homework. I simply do not believe the catastrophic results that some people predict would be the result of such drilling. These are nothing more than scare tactics, designed to promote some other hidden agendas.

It seems the people who are hindering this are NOT working in the best interests of this country. To NOT start this drilling will be the beginning of the end of this great country! As a mother, I do not want that for my young son and his future. It is our responsibility to improve the outlook for future generations.
As a voter, I am asking, no insisting, that you support such drilling and refining. We need control of our own futures.

  139. It's time Congress started working FOR the American people. I urge somone in Congress to bring forth a bill to immediately start drilling, refining US oil. I further urge all members of congress to support and pass said bill. I urge all Americans to vote out of office any member of Congress who does otherwise. It's time these part-timers realize their shift is up unless they live up to the standards of our Forefathers.

Love my country - Hate my Congress!

  143. The price of gas is totally rediculous. THe average american family can barely afford to go to work etc. I know that my family has dramatically reduced discretionary spending, kid's youth activities etc all because I can barely afford to pay for the gas to get back and forth to work.

All because the environmentalists and whoever in congress will not allow the oil companies to expand drilling operations which are cleaner and more efficient than ever. They won't allow the oil companies to make new processing plants. They won't allow production, they would love to see our own country's economy tank so they can say whatever it is. They don't want to see our country succeed!!

  145. We need more crude oil from our own resources. We need to cut our dependence on other countries. It's a simple matter of supply and demand. We don't have enough supply. Since Congress began it's session in Jan 2007, the price of gas has gone up $1.50 per gallon. What's up with that? I thought you promised to bring the price down. Please do everything you can to use our wonderful market based economy to help solve the problem.

Without energy resources like this we are completely held captive to the nations who supply us our oil. Currently they can charge us anything they want to and we have no power to do anything about it. Anwr will give us the ability to counter their prices. Please encourage your fellow lawmakers to open this precious resource to American oil companies.
