Dear Senators and Representatives,I was shocked to learn that the Democrats don't want to drill in the United States for fear of offending environmentalists. The President has said the drilling would be environmentally friendly. I don't understand the democrats logic to not taking care of their own people. We're not stupid and we want answers!
Thank you for your attention,

Defeat liberal Marxists(wannabes) in congress who want to destroy our nation.Start drilling in ANWR and everywhere else immediately! Revoke the environmental policies that stifle prosperity. We know how to take care of the earth, let us do it without excessive regulations. We have enough of our own oil to give us 100% energy independence.
Revoke all the Clinton and Carter socialist measures including easing of housing rates that caused the mortgage debacle, build a stronger military.
We the people have had enough and should not have to sit here and take it while many elected officials seek for their own gain and forget they were elected to SERVE THE PEOPLE!

The only way to end the United State's energy crisis is to become balanced in the well being of the American people and the environment. The scales are terribly unbalanced in favor of the environment at this time. In the past, our nation has faced and overcome tremendous obstacles; this is but one more and there will be others. Our ancestors worked hard to move our country into the position of power and influence that we currently possess. Let our people and our companies face the challenges, find solutions, and make our nation not only energy independent, and environmentally reasonable; but position the nation to be a supplier of energy for the other countries of the world that need more than they can provide. Free our corporations to drill for oil and build refineries to process it. At the same time, continue research for other methods to augment our energy needs so that oil becomes our secondary energy provider and our primary product for foreign markets. This comment has been reported to the site manager. Drill & explore not only ANWR but the Gulf of Mexico and anywhere else we have proven & potential energy reserves. In addtion, the building of new refineries, coal to gas plants, oil sands extraction, & nuclear power plants are all necessary to insure energy independence. Our present technology allows us to do all of this in an ecologocally safe manner at the SAME TIME we are investing in alternative energy. But Congress has known all of this for many years & just like Social Security, Health Care , Tax reform you have done NOTHING to solve these problems.
"Grill the Oil & Gas CEO Dog & Pony Shows" only serve to show the vacuity & vanity of our representatives. Our National Security is at stake while you in Washington allow yourselves to be cowed & held hostage by the Greens & Global Warming scam artists. Quit blocking drilling & exploration for political expediency. The time to act is now. There is no time for "later".

It is time that we, as Americans, start to use the resorces that are available on our own continent and offshore of our coasts. We cant drill on the east coast of the gulf but Cuba in a deal with China can. Whats wrong with this picture. The "big oil companies" make about ten cents a gallon on gas while the federal government makes eighteen and a half cents per. Thats about 177 billion. Talk about obscene profits. Profits made for unending regulations and laws that keep us from using our own resources, force difrent blends of gas all of which drive up the cost of gas to the people. Enough already. Stop helping us, you do more harm than goodThis comment has been reported to the site manager. It will be reviewed and removed if inappropriate. Thank you!

SirsIt is time to stop this political non-sense and represent the people that you were elected to represent,
These hearings that have been held demonizing the oil companies is nothing more than grandstanding and exposes your lack of knowledge of basic economics and the understanding of supply and demand.
It is time that we put America and its people first, and that you listen to the people that keep this country working and strong, Let the free market work, or you may not be after the next election cycle.

The democrats and the environmentalist have created this crises. The hearings on capital hill is political theatre, of course. They don't ask Hugo Chavez and King Abdullah why they don't allow more pumping. They won't ask themselves why we don't drill more here in the US . Threatening to take over the oil company's is absolutely outrages. So they're doing what we expect from politicians, wasting time and generating hot air. Oil went out of our control the moment we started importing more than half of what we use.
Let us drill and uncap existing wells and the price would drop in a heartbeat. It would also send the Saudi’s into a panic.
We must act now.

We need to get out from under the thumb screws of the OPEC nations. They are not only ruining our way of life, but they are dictating our own policies through their control of oil. We need to drill in our own backyard for the oil that we have. When we decide to do this, you will see OPEC go into a crisis mode and start to lower their oil prices. With the oil reserves that we have, we would not have to purchase oil from those who seek to destroy our way of life. This comment has been reported to the site manager. Dear Sirs,As an American citizen I'm fed up with this democratic controled Congress trying to point blame on others for our energy crisis. Look in thr mirror, you are failing us, you care not about this "Great Country" only about the special intrest groups (enviromentalists etc.) that have you in there back pocket. Why else are not drilling in Anwr, off our coastline, and developing the technology to use the sand oil we have. If you care about this country you will begin to approve the drilling of the oil we have, and approve the building of new refineries.
The U.S.A. didn't become the "Greatest Country Ever" because of special intrest groups buying politicians. No it became "Great" because of the hard work of men & women willing to work hard for a better tomorrow. We still have those kind of people in this country, untie their hands and let them solve this problem.

I have my property leased to an oil exploration company. Any time your ready, folks, start drilling!I live in western Pa, one of histories greatest oil production areas. My Grandfather worked in the oil fields in the boom days, and said that market forces from wells coming on line in Texas and Oklahoma drove the prices down, and made the better quality yet smaller volume oil wells in this area non-profitable to operate. The bulk of the wells were shut down due to sagging prices. The oil is still there, and with modern extraction methods, plentiful. There are also vast amounts of natural gas, and coal bed methane gas through out the country. Yet, we sit, watching our economy crumble, transfering our largest food source into fuel, which is aready raising food prices. Meanwhile, our Arab "allies" twist our proverbial nuts, as we try to protect our freedom from their militaristic brother's plans to destroy us. There is only one side that can help us in this equation. Ours. Free market Americanism and capitolism.
Liberals, millitant environmentalists, communists and Islamo-facists have taken there side, and it's against us.

It is vital to our economy and our national security to allow drilling not only in ANWR, but also along our coasts. We also need to develop our coal and shale resources as well, in both protected and non protected areas. Alternative energy sources are many years from economic viability, the only way we avoid a drastic transition shock to our economy is to increase our own supply of fossil fuels, and quickly. This comment has been reported to the site manager. Not only should the U.S. be drilling in ANWR, we should also be conducting off-shore drilling, developing our shale oil resources, expanding our nuclear power generating capabilities and pushing for commercialization of liquification of coal.Alternatives to fossil fuels, such as ethanol. solar, geothermic, hydrogen and wind power, are all future possibilities to alleviate our dependence on carbon fuels ........but they are FUTURE possibilities. If we do not expand the use of our own carbon resources, we will not be able to develop the alternatives because our economy will be detroyed before we get to the FUTURE.

I am in the least insulted by the lies and disingenuous twisting of facts and simply ingnoring the truth about our enregy resources (OIL) by mainly the democrat party and the socialists and marxists that do exist in that party and elsewhere applying their power and influence bent on destroying our constitution and thus way of life.I demand as a citizen of the United States of America, in good standing (supporting our Constitution) that we drill our own oil energy resources on shore and off shore; open the ability for our U.S. oil company's to drill where we can responsibly obtain our own oil.
The technology has changed and improved where we can get our resources with very little risk to any damage to our environment.

Come ON...This is a no brainer!!! Our country seems to delight in restricting ourselves from helping ourselves by creating rules/laws that are not even logical just so that we can look "noble" to others or feel better about ourselves as individuals. Who cares about what the other countries think about us!! They don't care what we think of them!! Why not just get over it, stop pointing fingers at each other and fix the problem. Start by drilling in ANWAR along with other areas (such as the coast lines) and build more refineries!!! Lets be logical!! I believe our great United States of America can be independent of foreign oil by drilling in our own oil rich nation. I am interested in seeing my Congress represent the idea of opening up the opportunity to drill in ANWR. It is ridiculous to continue with this path. High gas prices are not because the oil companies are ripping us off. It is because we as a people love to drive no matter the cost. Is it hurting? Yes. Are we driving less? No. Lets have access to our own oil. This comment has been reported to the site manager. It will be reviewed and removed if inappropriate. Thank you!

Stop the charade! Allow the United States to recover our own natural resources, not only in Anwar but all across our country! We must be able to use our own resources now and allow research into newer and better technology for the future. We need real action to provide oil now! Nancy Pelosi's congress is a joke, beholden to special interests (read environmentalists) and quite possibly the communist party of America. Remember you were elected to do the job of the people, not the left wing, Anti-America special interests! In addition, nuclear energy is safe and clean energy that can also provide us with the capabilities to grow as a country.

Increase domestic oil production.Decrease environmental and governmental regulations.
Allow the construction of new oil refineries to increase domestic production of fuel.
Allow the construction of new nuclear power plants.
The United States is the most productive, prosperous, ambitious and FREE country on earth; therefore, our energy needs are greater than those of other nations. This is a good thing! The more PRODUCTIVE and FREE a society is, the more energy it will require to maintain and increase that productivity and freedom! Expand the capacity of the United States to continue to grow, be prosperous, and be FREE!

The thought of America not attempting to do something to address our energy crisis has been, and is still absurd. We here in Maine have an even greater need for the supply of oil to be more available as winters are very long here and Mainers already have an extremely difficult time affording heating oil. It just not make sense for our elected politicians to continue to bow to OPEC and other terrorist entities who control oil production and turn a blind eye to the availability of vast amounts of oil that we Americans control and have a right to. Another point, part of the problem in this countries oil situation is that there has not been a new refinery built in over thirty years. Why not allow a refinery to be built on part of the land that is now available due to the closure of Naval Air Station Brunswick? Think of the jobs that would create not to mention the increase of refined oil available, etc, etc. There is not a quick fix to the oil situation for the world. We need to continue to try to find alternative energy sources yet to date there is not one in sight. However, we must have America and Americans best interests in mind now and for the future. This comment has been reported to the site manager. It will be reviewed and removed if inappropriate. I am absolutely insulted by Congress for blaming the oil companies for the high price of gasoline, when Congress along with the environmentalists are the ones soley responsible. So far, the only energy independence plan I see coming from Congress is:
(1) Don't drill for oil
(2) Don't drill for gas
(3) Don't build new refineries.
(4) Instead, invest in gerbil power and biomass, tear down trees to plant corn, burn it, thus creating food shortages, and then hold hearings while sitting in front of oil company executives while blaming them for your own incompetence.
I am outraged at Congress. By the way, thank you Bill Clinton for vetoing the 1995 bill to open up ANWR to drilling for oil. His reasons? He said we wouldn't see any oil for 10-12 years. Way to go, Bill! We sure could be using that oil right now.
START DRILLING IN ANWR NOW!!!! There are no exceptions to this, no excuses. DRILL NOW! Stop insulting the American People's intelligence with your constant excuses to not drill for oil in ANWR! I am sick and tired of you people being the puppets for the environmental movement!
How does not drilling for oil constitute progress? How does not drilling for oil define "energy independence?"
Start drilling NOW! Open up ANWR NOW! No more excuses.

This is the greatest country in the world and we are being taken down by politicians who won't permit the drilling for oil, a natural resource. We are awash in oil, but because of politicians we are forced to suffer at the pump. Have you shopped for groceries lately? These jerks talk about alternative fuels. There is no substitute for oil and we have plenty of it, yet these politicians choose to make us dependent on foreign oil. It is a simple matter of supply and demand. Increase the supply and the price comes down. Further, the politicians bring the oil execs to capitol hill and grill them on their profits. Business is supposed to create profit. The government takes 43 cents a gallon as profit and does nothing to earn it. It is none of any politician's business how much an exec makes in bonuses. The Democrats have caused the energy shortage and now it's time to turn this mess around. We need to drill in the ANWR and offshore to add to our fuel supply. Ethanol is a total disaster and needs to be stopped and our efforts applied to something useful. There is no climate warming caused by man and no danger to the Polar bear, these are just ruses begun by people like Al Gore who know very little about anything important.

I believe it is an atrocity to allow the American economy to be destroyed by the price of oil, while we have plenty of oil reserves right here in the United States that would enable us to be less reliant on foreign oil and not have us totally dependent on OPEC for our oil needs. Those in Congress who are unwilling to allow us to drill for our own oil are working against the good of the United States of America, not for the good of the people, as they were sworn in to do. Instead they are working to keep the far left environmental activists happy while the entire country suffers greatly. It is imperative that you act now to remidy this situation and help remove the huge burden the astronomical raise in gas prices has placed on the backs of hard-working families. While we struggle to pay our heating bills, put gas in our cars so we can go to work and feed our families, you stop the very thing that would enable us to climb out from under this and waste precious time questioning and yelling at oil executives, which accomplishes absolutely nothing.

It is unconscionable that you, our elected officials, are allowing the country to spiral into an economic morass. We have sufficient oil inland and off the shores of our country to ameliorate the problems currently facing us. Four dollar + per gallon of gas, obviously, is not a problem for you governmental officials whose salary is greatly larger than a significant portion of our constituency and whose travel expenses are taken care of... WITH OUR TAX DOLLARS! What is the matter with all of you? How many families must choose between food, mortgage and gasoline costs? More and more each day!I, and everyone I know, am disgusted with the posturing and continual hearings. The answer is simple. Supply and demand! Sure, we can seek out alternative fuels. In the meantime, have a heart and work on increasing the supply (from our own country). Believe me, everyone I know has decreased their demand.
How long do you thing we will put up with this before everyone is aware of the hypocrisy and determines that YOU are EXPENDABLE? WAKE UP and start to legislate for the welfare of your constituency, or the backlash against ALL OF YOU will be historical in proportions (maybe if your rears are on the line, you'll begin to care).

Now:We must draw our own oil in 1)ANWR, 2)the politically protected area in Utah that Clinton federalized for the environmentalist lobbies of the Democrats, 3)Colorado, the Dakotas, and 4)off our shores where other countries (China) are placing platforms. We must use our coal and coal shale, and move agressively toward 50%+ nuclear (basically, do what France can do and we can't, due to the marxist driven enviro lobbies).
Very near term:
Establish and or maintain higher fuel efficiency standards on cars, trucks and aircraft, but not at the cost of safety.
Forevermore:
Support capitalism and stop letting the marxist enviros ruin this country. We have politicians selecting unproven man-made global warming as their politial niche and, between them and the left-wing media, they have convinced many in the public that we are to blame and we must install carbon control measures to bridle our ability to produce. Guys, industry is not bad, we are a capitalist society, the most succesful to date, and we are letting socialists bring us down to European standards and below. Wealth solves the world's problems, not socialism. Stop turning the people of our nation into government dependent puppies. Lead our nation back to being a country of achievers, not parasites and hand-wringers. We have the richest poor in the world. So, stop and think where extreme poverty exists in the world. You can directly tie a socialist dictator or thug regime to each one of them. It's not that hard. It's really simple.
So, stop the non-sense, use our oil, no matter where it is, let industry expand, and get ourselves independent of socialist and religious zealot dominated oil-producing countries, period.
And finally, is it true that Sen. Durbin and others challenged the oil executives this week that they make too much when their companies earn $0.04 on the dollar; when actually the government taxes take $0.15 on the dollar? Geez guys, would you all stop it, and stop it now, before it's too late!!!!!!
PS - Man-made global warming? Try solar-made global warming. The sad thing about solar-made global warming is that many in congress wouldn't be able to blame Exxon-Mobil for it and work votes based on class envy.

We need to become self reliant on our own energy resources as a small business owner the price of fuel is making it hard to make ends meet, and if we don't get some stability on these oil prices I don't know how I'm going to heat my home this winter. The price increase needs to stop somewhere. If drilling for our own oil and being self sufficient and not relying on foreign imports will stabilize our prices then I say yes we should drill!!!!!This comment has been reported to the site manager. The government needs to stop pandering to the minority and take care of the majority, the people that vote, and do what is right for America. China, Venezuela, and the rest of the world follow this tenet and do not care about any other country but themselves. Once we get our needs taken care of then we can help the rest of the world. It is now time to drill, refine, and build new nuclear plants for our life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. We need to increase our supply, for security and economic reasons. We have the best and safest extraction methods in the world. If the other contries are doing drilling near our coasts with their methods, shouldn't we at least get our own? Perhaps we could have an impact on their methods if we set the standard. This comment has been reported to the site manager. It will be reviewed and removed if inappropriate. Thank you!

I am tired of paying so much for gas. If we drill in ANWR, we will not only help our own oil supply, but we will also scare the Saudi Arabia into bringing down their prices! We'd also be helping the environment up there because we will make a warm place for the Carabu to sleep. Drill our way out of this Oil Crisis! This comment has been reported to the site manager. Congress is infringing on the marketplace, on supply and demand, and on the taxpayers by complaining about Oil Company profits while neglecting to mention how much they ROB from Americans at the gas pump through their taxes.Drill in ANWR. Drill off the coasts. Open up capped wells within America. Allow for the construction of NEW refineries.
I know these are long term solutions, but we don't need a quick fix, we need OIL. OUR OWN OIL!
Many thanks.

I bet that the majority of congress does not pay for all of their gas. The average guys does! Not drilling for our own oil is absurd! ANWR is not a vacation spot, no one lives there, and is a desolate tundra. What are we waiting for? Government get out of the way! Government by its very nature can only make things work. Like it or not, the US economy runs on oil. Until I see solar powered cars on the street, I want drilling. Not to mention the fact that foreign oil funds our enemies. Congress' energy policies are destroying us all. From the price of gas to the price of food. Ethanol is a joke and you all know it. Every one of you better get on track or you'll get kicked to the curb sooner or later. If you idiots passed drilling in ANWR, OPEC would flood the market to reduce the crude price making it not profitable enough to produce our own. It's high time we use our own natural reserves. It worked for President Reagan. The price dropped from $34 barrel to $8 a barrel when he announced we were going after our own reserves. You keep dragging oil executives in there, knowing the answers you get. You make more $ than Oil companies and you don't invest a dime. $4 a gallon? One of these days, hopefully Americans will WAKE UP and see what a bunch of arrogant, out of touch fools most of you truly are. With the reserves we now know of, we could be energy independent for decades to come. We can't drill off shore, but its ok for China to drill 50 miles off the coast of the Florida Keys. We all know the environmental concerns the Chinese have and it's insanity that we're not doing it ourselves. By the way, why don't you investigate the speculators for a change and let the free market to itself. This comment has been reported to the site manager. I am sick to my very soul at the abuse that the average American citizen has to suffer because of the scared, and defeatist stance we are taking with regards to our national oil situation. We can drill safely! ANYWHERE!!!! I am an avid animal lover, but if you ask me if I am wiliing to be held hostage by some foreign nation who has made it clear time and time again that they would delight in our destruction because of some animals, I say take pictures of the polar bears, musk ox and caribou because they are going down. Again, I love animals, but I love people more. In fact let me state without hesitation or embarassment that I love American citizens most of all!!! Sell oil bonds if you have to but lets make America strong and independent again. Stop kissing the behind of the people who are giving out money to your campaigns and take pride in being an American. It is well beyond the time for OUR ( WE THE PEOPLE!!) Government and OUR Representatives to STOP getting in the way of free enterprise. This can be done first and foremost by reversing the years of ignorance/uninformed decision making - namely: preventing the building of New Refineries and the drilling of New oil wells in or around our own country. If one would consider OUR Supplies as OUR ONLY SUPPLY of OIL WE would have approximately 400 YEARS of Supply JUST UTILIZING OUR curreentt Technology. Given ALL that OUR predecessors and OUR peers have accomplished to this point in OUR history it doesn't take much of a leep of faith to KNOW and to be comfortable with a decision that makes that much COMMON SENSE.This comment has been reported to the site manager. We have got to be proactive and use our own oil so our dependence on foreign oil can be lessened. The futures would go down and it would buy us some time until alternative fuels can be developed. In turn that would create more jobs in the US. Stop laying down with these groups that do not have our best interests at heart. Call a National Emergency so that these lawsuits can be stopped and the oil companies can get more oil. This comment has been reported to the site manager. We, the American people are a humble people – generally content to focus on our own lives. We work hard, pray hard, and enjoy time with our families. Yet, we always seem to know when it’s time to band together – to create a force which is formidable. In the past it’s been the attack on Pearl Harbor and the attack of Sept. 11. And, in the past it has been the result of external forces. But this time it comes from within – not from the oil companies as you would have us believe, but from you, the people whom we have elected to represent us.You would want us to believe that there are sinister forces at work within ‘big oil’ which are to blame. You complain of ‘big oil’ profits yet you refuse to allow oil companies to reinvest in drilling or refineries? First of all, 'big oil' as you call it is made up of every American with a 401(k) plan or mutual funds. There are no sinister forces at work - unless you count what on the surface seems to be a blatant attempt by our representatives to bring the country to its knees.
We Americans may be humble but we are not fools. We know that five minutes after you allow drilling within our borders and approve the building of new refineries – the prices will begin to drop. In addition, we insist that you begin to allow nuclear power plants to be built and eliminate the restrictions on coal and natural gas. Otherwise, I suspect you’ll see more than a few truck drivers headed through the streets of Washington D.C.
Ten years from now we can all look back and say, this is when you made the difference - when you saved America. Or, we can look back and say this was when the American people took back their country....

Please allow us to access our own resources in the continental US, Alaska, and off of our coasts. America's energy needs continue to grow with our increasing population. The only way to bring prices down and allow our continued growth is to increase the supply. This will also reduce our dependency on foreign oil and create millions of jobs for American workers. Please see past our differences and vote to allow this action.

The Democrats need to start looking to a positive future by protecting the United States residents and their future. Saying that we need energy independance (just to get votes) and then voting against it, proves to me that both Democratic candidates talk out both sides of their face are on both sides of that fence. PICK ONE and show your true colors so the American people to judge you on what you do, not what you say. If they cant "do as they say"' how can either one be trusted with anything? They also need to get back to the basics and stand behind the Constitution of the United States of America (Ex: The Second Ammendment). I am a self employed guy who relies on a pick-up truck and equipment which is all affected by the extremely high cost of fuel. I am all for alternative fuels however it seems like it may take sometime,so it totally astounds me that in the meantime our policy is to hurt all Americans by not utilizing our natural resources. This is America and I am confident that we can extract oil and natural gas in a way that is good for the enviroment just get on with it. This was to be the year I was going to hire 2 employees and that is not possible now due to the cost of fuel. By the way I have had to pass some of this burden on to my customers which has resulted in a loss of 12% of my regular customers who can no longer afford me.
