  1. these men and woman protect us on a daily basis, this is the least we can do for them. although i applaud private citizens for trying to get this bill passed, it should have been a law all along .

  3. It is such a shame that there already isn't something in the law that protects our soldiers who are so often recognized as those who are protecting the country. We need to do this for all those who have fallen prey and been victims to those they are supposed to be protecting.

  5. Please help us seek the truth and justice for our fallen. Support HR 3884. What it will do is take jurisdiction away from the military and the local authorities and put it in the hands of the FBI. It is the best chance in finding the truth in these cases, and that's all we are asking for. Not too much to ask for those that put their lives on the line for all of us. I will not give up on finding justice for my late son, Scott. He would not give up on any of us.

  11. My son was also murdered by those in his command on returning from Iraq. Of course, without consequence to those that committed the crime. The army has lied to our family for over 3 years into the death of our son. I never thought I would have to read and see his autopsy. He was my wonderful child....he was loved. He is missed. But he was nothing but boots on the ground to this country.

  15. I am the Mom of 2 Marines, one of whom did a tour in Iraq. The situation is terrible, the government waste is extreme. No one is benefiting but the government contractors making ten times what the troups make. They deserve better and should get all of the care they need when they come home, physically AND mentally. Stop taking recruits who are not honorable.

  19. This is unfair to treat our soldiers, the ones who are defending our country and our freedom, with this much disrespect. We must act together.

  21. As a Navy Chief, I support those who serve. Our Sailors, Soldiers, Marines and Airmen who are dx'd with PTSD should be helped. Otherwise, their sacrifices made when defending us would be in vain.

  29. To Whom It May Concern,
I believe it is time that we take into account the seriousness of this matter. It saddens me as a Marine, A Father and a U.S Citizen that the military isn't standing behind our soilders. The showing of a non lack of support to properly investigate and support families is a tragedy.

    It's time we make changes.

  31. Yes, I agree that more scrupulous screening methods should be in place for incoming soldiers, but having just seen the movie "In the Valley of Elah", which is a depiction of fellow soldiers killing their comrade after returning from Iraq, the more shocking realization is what happens to these young men and women, our boys and girls, when they are subjected to the horrific day to day events that happen to them in Iraq and in war time. How can these horrific events not scar the psyche of any person who witnesses and partakes in activities that become necessary for their survival during this war in Iraq? So even if they entered into the military with their morals and ethics intact, the impact and effect of what they endure, witness, and commit must deeply wound them and numb them to re-entering society with the empathy and sanity required for humanity. First, in war they enter into a horrid surreal condition, then upon returning "home", that must become surreal as well, relative to what they have just experienced. They are called upon to perform actions that are abhorrent. How does that not scar you and forever change you? It's not surprising that these events of murder by fellow soldiers have been increasing. As a mother of a son in his early 20's with friends in the military, who watched them grow up, and as a teacher for the past 25 years, I can tell you that they are not emotionally equipped to confront the horrors that they are expected to endure. Their experiences in Iraq have changed them, and it's painful to imagine how they ever can be made "right" again. The bigger question is NOT why are these events happening; the bigger question is why are we in this war at all? How have we allowed our sons and daughters to be sacrificed for this? And what must we do as a society when they return home to help them become human again?

  33. these are our most cherished American product, our children! If they decide to defend our liberty than it should be our commitment to honor and defend them as the Heros they are. We need to protect them and keep them safe while in the company of fellow Americans, gang members and organized crime are not what I believe our most cherished should have to succumb to or be murderd by. America these are your children, defend am honor them as such. Of course there should be consequences just as if you murdered a police officer, why is this even a question? We honor firefighters as American Heros but forget the men who come back from combat, I don't understand at all. America needs to have parades and rememberences honoring these young souls who died or made it through, we owe them such respect. Look at Americas ouppirinf of respect for the NYFD, the number of men that passed in this moment is so small in comparison. I honor the NYFD, they are my people. Where is the same honor for our returning troops, whether it be by casket or troop transport planes, they are ours, the concrete which the rest of us build from. Keep them safe, respectfully and dillagently investigate any death.
