  1. Stop all of the bailouts. Air liners, GM, and Banks which have all acted recklessly.

  3. I bought a small house 15 years ago, one that I could afford. I qualified for a larger home but the increase in house payment scared me. Why should I bail out my neighbor who has a bigger house and lives way beyond their means.

  5. My builder did not pay his portion of taxes on my new home. He is a multimillionair that is claiming bankruptcy and has many other businesses to fall back on. He did not finish repairs and I am unable to serve for court as attempted for small claims.

  7. Why don't you people bail out responsible renters? People who didn't take your stupid government for ride?

    No of course you won't help...I didn't think so.

  9. A pox on all of you. Get a life and a real job. Then you will know that sometimes we all make mistakes, and guess what? We have to pay for the aforementioned mistakes.

    How about bailing out my stock market errors?

    You FOOLS.

    Vote them ALL out.

  11. Bailing out home owners who made irresponsible decisions is the wrong way to fix this housing problem, it only prolongs it and punishes those who have been responsible!! It's INSANITY,

  13. Furthermore, simply printing more money will further devalue our dollar, making purchases more expensive.

  15. I am 25 yrs old, and I do not want to pay for someone elses mistakes for the rest of my life. I will stand for what is right, and the housing bail out is not. I hope others will see through this smoke screen to possible prevent this from happening now or in the future

  17. Houses were and are not worth that much. Cheap housing is good for everyone. Let the prices fall where they should and you'll see buyers...

  19. Forget about the fairness is all everyone hears. OK, I'll forget about that, the housing bill is still opposable for many other reasons, including the fact that there are other options such as extending the length of loans, deferring payments to the rears or turning home owners into fancy renters by making interest only payments.

  21. Under Bush & now under Obama, we are spending hundreds of billions of dollars to attempt to fix a predicament which is largely the result of:
    • irresponsibility;
    • the desire for more & more & more without thinking about the consequences;
    • not living within our means.

    Our national debt is 11 trillion + and we seem to think that the solution to our problems is to spend more money? How is it fair to companies & individuals who have survived & even profited during tough times to reward those who have failed due to circumstances they should have controlled? I heard that Obama’s housing bill will cost every man, woman, & child in America $2,800 … but in actuality we will just put this on our infamous national debt credit card (which has a seemingly infinite credit limit and on which we barely pay off the interest & surely aren’t reducing principal). I believe in grace & mercy, but I also believe that it is not fair to burden the entire taxpaying population with the preventable problems of the few. We need to find a way to help those who are now truly needy (due to circumstances beyond their control) and sparing the unwise, inefficient, & greedy from the consequences of their actions.

    I lost my job in 11/2003 after almost 10 years. I received about $8K gross worth of unemployment, which I am thankful for. Since then I have earned & learned to live on significantly less money without deficit spending & going into debt. Our society often confuses needs with wants, and it is high time that learn to live within our budget. It is irresponsible to place the burden of fixing the results of our poor behavior on our children & grandchildren. We are spending hundreds of billions (even trillions) on an attempted solution which very well may not even work. Also, only a small fraction of the money spent actually makes it to the intended rescuee, meaning this is highly inefficient. Have we thoroughly considered what the worst consequences are of just letting nature take its toll? One day someone is going to have to pay the piper … and this “jump start” spending may ultimately devalue or lead to the cancellation of the U.S. dollar. What is the worst that could happen if we just let nature take its course regarding the housing problem? Please find a way to aid without taking us all down.

  23. Please allow the market to correct to normal levels so that those "hardworking Americans" like myself who are eager to buy can finally purchase a home. Many markets are still overpriced. A bailout only prolongs the correction.

  25. Proposals are not equitable in nature. Let the system suffer through difficult times now, as they will surely come later with such a socialistic welfare system!

  31. I don't even believe this bailout was for people losing their homes. It seems like the banks are getting this money are they're not even willing to help individuals who are losing or trying to avoid losing their homes. The money went to banks cause it will always be the richer are getting richer. The American systems only helps the rich or the poor not the middle class.
