All I can say is, I think 1 child's life is worth it... if there are an average of 4 child fatalities per year, then how can we do nothing? Especially now - with this administration, when making sure every child has healthcare coverage is such a priority - how can we, who are in charge of keeping them safe, put their lives at risk? I hope other people feel as strongly as I do and sign this with me!

Thank you, ANSR for Kids for recognizing and doing something about this missing link in our emergency care system. It is amazing to learn that there is no law requiring that infants and toddlers be restrained in the back of an ambulance, and I'm sure this is new information to so many other concerned care-givers. I hope our President and his administration take the necessary steps to insure the safety of these babies at a time when their health and/or well-being is already in a compromised state. I urge every mom, dad, and grandparent to sign this petition and stand up for the safe transport of any "little one" they love.

About time that action is being taken on this. This deficiency has been neglected for too long. Kudos to you for getting the ball rolling.

I'm very surprised to learn that there is no law that requires a child to be strapped/ restrained SAFELY in an ambulance. Look at that number "5,000 AMBULANCE and fire vehicle crashes/year" how many of those involved in crashes are possibly transporting children to the hospital?!
I hope a change is made very soon!

This needs action! As the mom of 2 children and one who needed to be in an ambulance at birth to be transported to a helicopter, I never knew about this until now. I couldn't imagine what would happen if my child were in that ambulance and it crashed.

I am a pediatric nurse in a private office. I have to call for ambulance transport every few weeks and I always ask if they need the child's carseat. They usually put them in the parents lap which is not safe. This would be fantastic

It is very important that the child is being transported safely to the hospital since the ambulance is the first step to getting there when it is a very serious emergency.

I'm studying to be a teacher and know that in the case of an emergency where an ambulance is called, we need to take everyone's safety into consideration, and children should be the priority! They are very weak and cannot fend for themselves, so we must keep them safe. The #1 cause of death in children is ACCIDENTS that could've been prevented!!

Child safety should be taken very seriously and hopefully this petition on more secure transportation features for ambulances does not get ignored.

As an EMT, child safety should be paramount! Children aren't little adults and they need to be properly restrained just as if they are in a passenger car.
Attention needs to be given to this issue immediately! Thank you.
