I just read that our legislators recently voted themselves a huge boost in salaries. Apparently they think their stewardship has warranted such action -- despite the fact that they have no idea how to spend less than they take in. I'm utterly sickened!

This is preposterous and a method to further tax the middle class. Gee, will congresspeople be exempt from this tax, just like they are outside of the healthcare and social security programs that the rest of us contribute to and rely on?

I have worked hard and continue to work hard all of my adult life. I have been studying the market for the last 5 years in an effort to create some extra income for myself and my family. As a small investor/trader, this bill will effectively push me out of any participation in the stock market. Wallstreet will not be paying for the bailout, thousands upon thousands of small investor/traders will be.

Stop taking money away from hard working citizens and those of us who have been frugal enough to save for retirement. If you would spend more time finding ways to control spending and stop the pork in the Federal Government we would all be better off. It is time to STOP SPENDING OUR MONEY CUT TAXES.

Really....let's put the blame where it belongs. On those institutions that our tax dollars already pay for that aided and abetted the creation of the problem, failed to recognize it, and acted irresponsibly to try and contain and correct it. It was not caused by individual investors. Kill this bill.

Government already taxes on gains and takes very little liability on losses. This tax, if introduced, would be like taking money for purchases that may not benefit the buyer. Like taking taxes on a computer purchase - a computer that may not perform well in the end. A stock investor already takes higher risk. If government is willing to take equal liability on any losses that my be experienced by stock investment, then it would be fair to introduce this tax - not otherwise.
