The tax hurts the entrepreneur and the individual investor who wants to invest for herself instead of giving his money to Wall Street.
The tax favors Wall Street by punishing the small investor that can move in and out of stocks each economic cycle to protect ones gains.
If we can't trade for ourselves the small investor will get gauged by the large mutual funds with their high fees.
The tax hurts people who have spent their whole lives learning how to make money in the stock market under the current system.
The tax favors Wall Street and the bigs guys by forcing people to invest with large institutions rather than investing for themselves.
Also, this tax forces people to be scared to protect themselves when the market turns downward.
If this tax went through 1/2 of my portfolio would have been paid to the U.S. government this year alone. If I chose not to trade I would have lost 1/2 of my portfolio in the down turn last year.
Finally, the liquidity in the market will drop dramatically and people won't be able to get out of their investments. I thought there was and illiquidity issue already as demonstrated by the downturn in the market. Why make it worse?
IPOs are now taking place in foreign exchanges. The U.S. market is a source of innovation and postive change in America. This bill hurts America by damaging the system that helps create jobs and fuel entrepreneurial dreams of growth through capital flows.
I beg you to not ruin America, take away the intitiave of the small investor, favor Wall Street big guys. Please contact me with questions as this is the most important issue to me bar none.

I had planned on trading by making my savings work for me to supplement my Social Security retirement and combat the hyperinflation that is just around the corner. This tax will cripple my ability to earn any profit. Thank you, Mr. DeFazio!

buy all means we don't need to be taxed any more then we are. We as tax payers have payed enough taxes. I believe you on Capital Hill should dig into your pockets and pay off some of the debt that you have created.

This bill is counter productive and will decrease stock market activity. I would rather see the government go back on failed and bailed institution's executive stock sales for the previous 5 years. I think the head of Lehman (Dick Fuld) made over 50 million on free LEH stock the year before the crash. These (ill-gotten)gains should be at risk. Don't make the common trader (taxpayer) pay again.

If there is the slightest chance this misguided bill will be enacted into law (and we'll be watching, I, and hundreds of thousands (maybe millions) of other elderly investors of very modest means who already suffer the relentless decline in our quality of life that is resulting from the current Administration's headlong effort to bankrupt us all with hyper-inflation, will simply bail out of the stock market, take more losses than we already have endured over the last two years, burn through what is left of what we have long before we die, and end up being dependent on Big Government for our survival. Could this be Mr. DeFazio's objective? Think about it - - ! I used to think that Reps. DeFazio and Wu could be relied upon to stand up for the "little guy," but I was obviously wrong. Good bye, Peter! Good bye, David!
