Dear Sir/Madam,I am retired. My ability to trade stocks with my savings in order to maximize, and keep safe, is my only income since the company pension plan went bust. Please do not deprive me of my ability to protect my savings by trading for a profit instead of leaving my families fate in hands of Wall Street managers and funds.
Thank you so much.

This proposed tax not only increases transaction costs, but it will also widen bid/ask spreads, further hurting the individual investor. There are better, more efficient ways to raise money than this!!This comment has been reported to the site manager. It will be reviewed and removed if inappropriate. Thank you!

I am 62 years old, and planned on retiring in July at 63. I have just informed my manager today that I will not be retiring as I had planned. My investments are down 45%. Imposing additonal tax to me - directly or indirectly - is outrageous! This comment has been reported to the site manager. It will be reviewed and removed if inappropriate. Thank you!

I am already getting killed paying exorbitant commissions on my teeny-tiny trading account. A new 0.5% RT tax will drive me out of trading. Please vote 'NO' on this, for the sake of a man like me on the Main St.This comment has been reported to the site manager. It will be reviewed and removed if inappropriate. Thank you!

This doesn't even sound good "on the surface". It illustrates an utter lack of understanding of the market today, of the needs of smaller or independent investors, or of the overall systemic problems of the global economic infrastructure. This comment has been reported to the site manager. Ouch! Another nail in my now-since-November-almost-nonexistant-IRA coffin. You can bet I will take whatever $$'s I have remaining and invest oversees if this goes through.Seems strange that a politician would write/support a bill that negatively effects so many individual voters in their own district! Perhaps they do not realize how many of us there are. Not just traders in small business but every single person who has a retirement account!
Carrot please - put down the stick.

Something all politicians should have tattooed on their foreheads so each morning in the mirror and each time they look at each other they will see this quote of the late Dr. Adrian Rogers:“You cannot legislate the poor into freedom by legislating the wealthy out of freedom. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get
what they work for, then that, my dear friends, is just about the end of any prosperous Nation. You cannot multiple wealth by dividing it.”

It is vital to the survival of the country that its citizens be able to participate in the stock market. We are already taxed for dividends and interest received and now they want to tax us for every trade we make. I do not understand why this is happening. I am 69 years old and have worked very hard all my life, usually holding two to three jobs so that I could live frugally and not be a burden on anyone. This proposed tax would hamper my ability to leave monies to my family upon my death. Thank you. This comment has been reported to the site manager. It will be reviewed and removed if inappropriate. I almost hope they do it. I'm 56 and have been trading for 10 years with very modest success. The profits are already not worth the tax paperwork not to mention the stomach wrenching fear while waiting for the market to get in synch with my bets. A trader Tax will do the trick. I will finally be able to walk away from this addiction. I'll go back to real self employment and this time I won't bother myself or the IRS with my tiny tax returns. This comment has been reported to the site manager. The funds I manage as a retired investor have lost 18% in this downturn. At the same time our "trusted, tried and true" mutual funds lost 50+ percent before I sold them last November and December. Please do not introduce a new tax further hampering my efforts to recover from this setback. Retired individuals depend on their investments and any new tax targeting investment activities will hit us much harder than the general population. This comment has been reported to the site manager. Hey Pete DeFazio, how am I responsible for the reckless behavior of large wall street firms? Then why are you going to tax the little guy from Main St along side them? I could write a book on how bad of an idea this is. Do you even understand cause and effect. Have you thought about what the real effect will be (other than sounding like a good idea to the stupid voters that elected you)? This comment has been reported to the site manager.
