  1. Why should we be taxed unfairly by people who do nothing to earn an honest living. They want us to by fuel efficient vehicles to cut down on our dependency on oil, and now they want to tax us by the mile. Let's put some of these tax greedy *&#@/ out on the street to earn a living and see if they would want to give up over half of their paycheck to unfounded taxation.

  3. This would destroy one of the only remaining profitable businesses on Wall St. In doing so the liquidity of our markets, a hugely significant factor in their proper functionality, would evaporate. This would greatly harm all investors.

  5. Please do not let this happen. Congress is trying to tax every aspect of our lives in the name of spreading the wealth. What a true travesty these words have come to be. Stop this insanity that has occurred in the last 30 days. I trade to support myself in my retirement year.

  7. This tax is absurd and will only hurt all individual investors by increasing the cost of trading.

  9. please, please enough of the taxes. this tax will almost stop a lot of trading.

  11. This is the kind of stupid thing only former President Bush could come up with! What's the story?

  13. This tax will hurt the small time individual investor like myself who is trying to trade the market due to the serious decline in their retirement accounts. Please vote no on the trader tax.

  15. This bill would only hurt main street investors and traders who have already been severly damaged.
Please vote NO on H.R. 1068.

  17. I trade to help supplement my income after I became injured in 1992 and later became disabled. Please don't deprive me this privilege and vote NO to H.R. 1068. Times are tough enough. Please don't make them tougher.

  19. This would be very harmful to the stock market which is already beset by too many problems. We do not need another kind of tax, another kind of reporting, and another obstacle to the free market. What we need is Washington to learn to quit spending our tax dollars willy-nilly.

  21. are you an idiot to start with or does going to D.C. make you an idiot.

  23. Again, this would put the small investor out of business and reduce market activity as a result. How does this make sense?

  25. just starting to trade options, and with the small trades I execute my profit -when I make any - would be wiped out. I would not be able to trade. Please vote no on this bill.

  27. This bill(HR 1068) will hurt the investors and traders that had nothing to do with the problem and it will probably cause, not only me, but unknown other small traders to go out of business(how can one pay a $50.00 fee, on top of commissions, for a $10,000 trade and survive when a particular trade may only yield enough to cover those fees? Worse yet would be still having to pay them on a losing trade).
This bill will have a disastrous effect on our economy. Please vote NO.

  29. If you really want to make Wall Street pay and not your main street investor who has already been severly damaged, place the tax on the commission!!!!

  31. This will kill market liquidity, hurt small investors, and chase foreign investors away to friendlier markets!

  37. I am a very small investor and if this tax passes I will be unable to afford to trade. I believe this tax would harm the liquidity of the stock market and further damage our economy. Only the rich could afford to trade.

  39. A lot of self-directed IRA trading is done by ordinary Main Street middle-class individuals like me and we should not be punished for the Wall Street bailout with this trader tax. Please!

  41. All trades are done with entry and exit so it is practically 0.5%. With the interest so low, 0.5% is in fact very significant. Trader tax is NOT the way to punish Wall Street but individual traders (just like AMT is not the way to punish the very rich but the middle class). In fact, trading the market was not the root cause to the financial crisis. Please think deeper and understand the root problems, then figure out the true resolutions or penality to the wrong-doers. BTW, since the mortgage market was so poorly done, why don't you propose a house tax of 0.25% for every purchase/sale of a house? You will surely kill the liquidity of the already-stuck housing market.

  45. I was laid off at the end of 2008. I had been trading stocks and futures on a part time basis and decided to try trading full time when I was laid off. I have been marginally successful. This bill will literally tax 50% of my earnings (this is before income taxes) and put me out of the trading business and in the unemployment line. I also believe it will have a negative impact on the stock and financial markets. Please discuss this with someone you trust who truly understands how the stock market works and why this will impair the ability of the market to work efficiently.

Thank you for your consideration (and service to our great nation)!

  51. No on H.R. 1068! Reduced liquidity, passed-along costs to the individual investor, an even less level playing field for those wishing to participate in the markets. This is congressional scapegoating at its most pathetic...and dangerous.

  53. Bailing out Wall Street was wrong. Making investors pay for it is wrong. Two wrongs certainly don't make a right.
