Please give this matter your immediate attention. With all that is going on in America today, we cannot afford for more businesses to close, take away affordable children's products from consumers, or fill our landfills. Please revise this important, but VERY POORLY crafted legislation NOW.This comment has been reported to the site manager. It will be reviewed and removed if inappropriate. Thank you!

This is not right so many people rely on used clothes for their children. Most kids out grow them before they out ware them. What are we suposed to do with the used clothes, throw them away, add to land fills, while there are frezing children with no clothes. Oh too bad for them. I don,t think so!!!!!!This comment has been reported to the site manager. It will be reviewed and removed if inappropriate. Thank you!

I really need help with expenses in this economy. The best way to clothe my children and help the environment is to buy at resale shops. Please change this law. This comment has been reported to the site manager. It will be reviewed and removed if inappropriate. Thank you!

This is absolutely obsurd! You let these items be sold imported and/or sold already in this country once...if you are so concerned about this testing being done do your jobs the first time! This will only negatively effect our hard working families and small businesses and help large corporate monopolies like Walmart who DO NOT offer and equivalent solution to are blue collar families!!! Please stop this nonsense!! Our citizens need options like this available to them!!This comment has been reported to the site manager. It will be reviewed and removed if inappropriate. Thank you!

This is a ridiculous pieces of regulation. Well-intended, but a "very big sweeping piece of legislation" (thanks Ms. Vallese) is entirely unnecessary. Not a single child has been poisoned by a book. Even VERY FEW have had lead poisoning from higher risk products like charms on jewelry. Let's rethink this one!!!This comment has been reported to the site manager. My consignors and donators must sign a contract with my store before handing over their goods saying they have inspected the items for damage and are fit for sale. It also states that my store is not to be a dumping ground for unsafe, damaged, or otherwise unfit items. If I find these items have been given to my store, the consignor must face consequences. At the same time, I have signs throughout my second hand store as well as handouts to give my customers that essentially say "Buyer Beware." I cannot personally validate every item that goes through my store that it hasn't been recalled by the CPSC or been damaged in some way. The customer, at this point in an item's useful life, must also be vigilant and informed before making a purchase. The amount of lead needs to be stopped at the point of entry, when the item is purchased by an end-user for the first time. These retailers need to bear the duty of monitoring the goods. Once the goods are in the public's hands, they become untrackable and next to impossible to be erradicated. Why place this burden on second hand stores, many of which are small businesses already stuggling in our current economy. Keep in mind, as well, that the people purchasing from these stores usually Need venues from which to buy less expensive items because they, too, are hard up. This bill is well-intentioned but poorly executed. Something needs to be done! Don't take your anger of Chinese goods out on our second hand stores! This comment has been reported to the site manager. Oh yes, "the government is here to help you, looking out for the little guy."They are out of control with their law-making. They claim to be protecting us, while every day they are robbing us of more and more of our freedoms. I can't even fathom how many people this law is going to harm, children among the majority.

In these hard times that MANY people are experiencing it is unheard of that YOU .who are supposed to represent us..would try and stop the resale of clothing items that people with little money depend on to clothe their children..I know it is hard for you to understand since you do not have to worry about where your money comes from and you CAN afford the finer things in life but us common folks cannot afford the expensive clothes when most are struggling to keep their homes..pay bills..and keep food on the table...not to mention throwing good clothes away and filling up the landfills which pollute this Earth..I am against this and hope many people will voice their opposion to this legisration!!This comment has been reported to the site manager. I went in one of my favorite thrift stores (Impact Thrift in Hatboro, PA) the other day, and the toy room is emptied out and all the children's clothing is roped off and wrapped like it contains the plague. I can't believe this has happened. What political moronry and ridiculous logic has caused this? As usual, blame is being passed and the people that are "paying" for this blunder are those who are strapped for cash already and shopping second hand in order to make ends meet. Politicians (who have more than likely never set foot in a second hand store) have not only completely stopped second hand commerce for childrens clothing and toys, but killed the resale business, and now will see the environmental impact of all these items becoming GARBAGE! Unbelievably wasteful and so, so illogically stupid! The ultimate responsibility for these old toys and hazardous clothing is undoubtedly the fault of the manufacturer. But PARENTS need to be aware that these hazards do still exist, and MAKE SURE they don't provide these toys to kids who may put them in their mouths, and the same with old books and "hazardous" clothing! The responsibility is PARENTAL! It's another case of a huge political blunder that has done nothing but stick a knife in the heart of those who are already unable to afford to buy items brand new, and dig a hole for the people who are trying to make ends meet in this horrible economy by selling second hand items. Way to go, politicians! Now realize it and FIX IT, FAST!!!!!This comment has been reported to the site manager. It will be reviewed and removed if inappropriate. Thank you!

This is ludicrous! How are people supposed to afford to clothe their children in this dwindling economy? Enough people are struggling as it is and now we put THIS into effect???This comment has been reported to the site manager. It will be reviewed and removed if inappropriate. Thank you!

This would be the biggest mistake! For some people this is the only way for them to provide clothing for their families. What is next no more garage sales, no more Charity Resale shops (Salvation Army, Goodwill, etc)? I just can't understand the point in all this. When someone chooses to purchase items resale, they are choosing to buy "AS IS". Leave it to be OUR CHOICE.This comment has been reported to the site manager. I benefited from used children's clothes for my child, especially when he was a baby, and I dont want this privilege taken away from other young mothers who need alittle help where they can get it.This comment has been reported to the site manager. I under stand the need to protect our kids, but this will only hurt them. The government can not and should protect us from every thing, the consumer also bares some of the responsibility. this bill goes to far. This comment has been reported to the site manager.
