As a single mother of three children I have no other choice then to buy used clothing. This law is WRONG in so many ways. I have read the literature but tell me WHY is this right? WHO is benefiting?

The intention was good, but you will not only close many small second hand shops, but you will make it impossible for even middle class people to clothe their kids, and you will fill the landfills. RIDICULOUS! Instead, Make the laws to regulate imports to meet the expectations that our own products must meet !!!!!!! THAT is why chinese imports are now tainted!!!!!!!Work on the PRESENT, not the past!

Additionally this threatens to shut down most small business who are family run and working towards selling safe and natural alternatives to the big store toys. I would no longer be able to sell the cloth dolls that are handmade in the USA.

I'm confused what will happen to reused, toy and children's goods;
please don't punish the poor
please don't make "reuse ,recycle , reduce" illegal.
do it smart
All unmarked melt costume jewelry, throw it out.
No chipping paint, throw it out.
Nothing intended for the mouth, throw it out.
But old toys have all ready out gassed, in many instances they are safer then new toys.
Used clothing is defiantly safer for the dies, starch and other chemical that are used to treated textiles just to make them look good on the hanger are very toxic.
In my house hold we wash all new textiles be for the first wearing.
Thanks for your consideration on this matter ,
Jenn Lubin

This new law will harm our environment due to all of the waste of throwing perfectly fine articles into landfills along with causing more economic stress on families since they will have to pay high prices for new children items rather than recycle/repurpose used articles. "Buyer Beware" should be the understanding for items manufactured prior to February 10th.
Churches, preschools, community centers, non-profits, etc. will all be affected since their organized resale events will be illegal! Sounds like a really effective and benifical law, huh? Not so.

If we are wanting to live in a "green" environment, we are doing the wrong thing by not allowing such items to be recycled. Shopping at thrift stores has also enabled me to save and take better care of my family.

This is really a bad idea. If second hand clothing can not be resold, maybe it should not have been sold when it was new. We are in a down economy and we have been encouraged to recyle, does this make any sense?

I can NOT believe something like this is even an issue! This makes absolutely no sense that childrens clothing could be a hazzard? With the economy the way it is, how is everyone supposed to be able to afford to go out and buy all brand new clothing!! This is just down right ridiculous!!!

I think this is not right. Alot of Americans make their living selling second hand clothing, and even collectible childrens toys. Some families can only afford to buy second hand toys and clothing. Please do not pass this. This will effect so many people in a very bad way. PLEASE VOTE NO!!!!!

What is this world coming too??? In a weak economy now it will be potentially illegal to resell kids clothing? My grandkids live in reused clothing since the parents can't afford to buy everything new for them. Come on -- you guys certainly have better things to do than deal with this sort of thing. PLEASE vote NO on anything pertaining to this issue.

Are you out of your mind. With our economy getting worse everyday more & more people will be looking to rummage sales & thrift shops to cloth their family. The government is supposed to help us not make life harder. Please do not do this to middle & LOW income families.
