I am a mother of one, and an Air Force wife, who has had an unnecessary cesarean due to the close mindedness of the medical community towards midwifery and due to one Obstatricians personal prejudices and arrogance. As a women who is dedicated to pure birth, natural birth and home birth for healthy and normal pregnancies, and one who will be having a vaginal birth after cesarean, I beseech you to educate yourselves and stand behind the practice of VBAC as well as home birth. As the vessels through which future generations are born, we need a choice, a voice. Educate yourselves about the dangers and risks of repeat cesareans and know the actual safety and benefits of VBAC, from a physical perspective for both mom and baby, as well as an emotional and spiritual perspective. Help us gain the support and advocacy we need for birth as God created it, and let us steer our country away from the cesarean epidemic which threatens to harm our future generations. This comment has been reported to the site manager. As a woman who had a successful VBAC, I can say that there definitely needs to be more support, education and honesty concerning this issue. I was a victim of dishonesty, laziness and misconceptions which led to my c-section and feel very lucky to have had the option of a VBAC. All women should have the same option, but unfortunately, that is not the case. Women need to be told it is an option and told the truth about repeat c-sections, not made to feel like that is their only option. This comment has been reported to the site manager. As a mother who had a successful VBAC this year, I feel it is important to educate women that they can make the decision to have a natural birth. I think it is equally important to educate doctors that VBAC in most situations is a safer option than a repeat c-section, and they should be looking out for the interest of their patients rather than their pocketbooks or schedules. This comment has been reported to the site manager.
