HR 3394: The Health Information Protection Act

I’m writing to you to support HR 3394, the Health Information Protection Act. This bill is designed to restore the Fifth Amendment when it comes to health communication. Presently, the FTC places the burden of proof, that communication didn’t harm someone, on advertisers. HR 3394 would reverse this unconstitutional approach and further require that the FTC not act unless someone was actually harmed by the health information provided.

The First Amendment protects all freedom of speech, and it has been long held that no liability exists unless the speech in question causes physical harm. I support the First and Fifth Amendments. I urge you to support them as well by cosponsoring HR 3394.
