This should be a no-brainer!! Our troops are in serious need of even the most basic comforts. Do your part and pass that bill! This comment has been reported to the site manager. It will be reviewed and removed if inappropriate. Thank you!

It is so important to active military personnel to be able to receive things from home - basic needs are hard enough to come by. Please help make it easier for them to receive the things they need. This comment has been reported to the site manager. It will be reviewed and removed if inappropriate. Thank you!

I am part of Molly's Navy Moms support group. We hear from sailors in the sandbox who are having to do without necessities (like toilet paper) - if we had free shipping - just imagine that ALL their NEEDS (and some wants) could be met!!Our prisoners here in the states have better facilities than our soldiers!! We HAVE to do what we can to change this!!

All war Zone APO/FPO address's should be eligible for mail to be sent to them for free. I have a troop support group of 400 Navy moms and our biggest problem is the expence of shipping to our Active Military !Please consider this Bill :)

The armed services already move millions of tons of "stuff" to these foreign locations. Why can't they simply take these packages too? How much could it possibly add to what they are already spending? My daughter is serving our country in Afghanistan under conditions far worse than criminals are entitled to here. Congressman, don't you think you could deliver a few creature comforts paid for by families(yet another burden) and donors to these American Heroes? This comment has been reported to the site manager. Sending packages and letters to our men and women serving in the military should be free. Their families have enough worries with them so far away, and have enough struggles to get through without having to ALSO worry about weather or not they can send their loved ones letters, or packages to let them know they're always on their minds. It's hard enough to not know where your spouse, or friends are over there, let alone being able to send them something to let them know that they're on your mind. I have many friends who served, and are serving, as well as family who are and were in the military. It's not always easy, but you know they need the support from home more than ever when they are away. This comment has been reported to the site manager. It's time for the American People to get the same privileges as members of Congress. This includes Health Care, too. Congress is NOT above the law. The same laws Congress enacts should also apply to ALL members of Congress. This comment has been reported to the site manager. It will be reviewed and removed if inappropriate. Thank you!

During my late husband's tours in Viet Nam we were privileged to have "Free Mail" back and forth. This allowed us to send voice tapes to each other at no cost. What a wonderful gift those tapes were to all of us. I still have them and plan to pass them on to my children. Even when the Postal workers went on strike the Military mail was delivered. I know how important it is to send letters & packages to our fighting men. Today's families deserve the same courtesy of "Free Mail" that the families of our military serving in Viet Nam received. Even with the advances in communications technology today that probably replace most letter writing, packages still need to be sent. The cost can be prohibitive to many. I saw a yong lady at the Post Office the other day with 4 packages she was sending to her husband overseas. Things that he needed and some things she was sending to make his days brighter. She was struggling to figure out if she had enough money to send everything. She has enough to worry about taking care of her family and doesn't need to worry about having enough money to ship her husband a few packages.I urge all of the members of Congress to sign a bill that would grant "Free Mail" privileges to our military serving in combat. After all, you all have that same privilege without having to go to war.

Congress gets free mailing so why not allow free mailing for our Soldiers. I would venture to guess that congress uses the free mail for personal use, something else the American people are paying for besides all the other waste in Washington. Our Soldiers work hard for their country. We the people want free mail for our Soldiers! Step up & do what is right for the American Soldiers. This comment has been reported to the site manager. what's good for congress should be good for our fighting men. Thinking about it, what's good for our fighting men should be good for our congressmen and I don't mean flying around in AF I.
