Support Kentucky Coal Mining - Protect and Support Kentucky Coal Jobs - Vote "NO" CAP & TRADE
Sign the Petition : 4,341 Letters and Emails Sent So Far
We, the undersigned, are concerned citizens who urge our leaders to act now and Vote "NO" against this job-killing 'Cap-and-Trade' legislation. This legislation would result in every American paying a 'carbon tax' for turning on the lights, driving to work or heating and cooling their homes. Even more disturbing is the fact that millions of jobs would be lost over the next 20 years under Cap and Trade. At a time when 2.9 million Americans have lost their jobs this year alone, it is irresponsible and unacceptable to support this reckless bill. We, the undersigned, are concerned citizens who urge our leaders to act to protect and Support Kentucky Coal Jobs. We urge U.S. Congressmen and Senators to stop voting against Kentucky coal jobs and promote decreased mining regulations at the MSHA and Office of Surface Mining Levels. We, the undersigned, are concerned citizens who urge our state, The Commonwealth of Kentucky, to properly and adequately staff the Department for Natural Resources, review office in Frankfort, KY. Adequate staffing would allow timely review of mining permits as required by current regulation. The Department for Natural Resources, in reviewing permits is now running in excess of 70% delinquent. Adequate staffing would help support and protect Kentucky coal jobs. We urge the Commonwealth of Kentucky's Representatives and Senators to stop voting against Kentucky coal jobs and promote decreased mining regulations to help ensure the future of Kentucky Coal jobs. | |

The people that would suffer the most is the workers. Not only would they have a higher electricity bill but they would have no income. Don't do that to the people..

My wife works for a coal company as a HR associate. She works with a great group of people and they all truly care about the miners.
Personally, I'm all for alternative fuel sources but let's use them to supplement not replace the resources that are proven to work. Coal is a major resource to this county. If Obama doesn't want to use it so be it. Let's just cut his coal off and leave everyone else's alone. We have oil lets drill it. America needs jobs. Not new democrat taxes. Anyone with brains God give a goose knows that global warming is a hoax. It's been proven that the science is flawed and it's nothing more than something else the democrats are trying to use to steal money from the American public. Coal powers this world and I'm proud to support our miners against Cap and Trade. I firmly believe that politicians need a reality check. They need to start listening to and serving the people that put them in office instead serving their own self interests.
Let's make Obama a one term lame duck president by voting out the democrats and their cronies in November.
Let's take our county back. Repeal & Replace!

I am the proud wife of surface coal miner who works in Harlan County, Kentucky. My husband is a good, hard working man who has struggled long and hard to provide for us a modest home and what few things we own. My husband works for a very good company that he has been with for the past 10 years. His company is mindful of safety concerns, environmental safety, and provides my husband with good pay and benefits, including my health insurance. In the past 10 years, my husband has recieved steady raises, bonuses, and has never been laid off. Due to the increased scrutiny of the EPA, increased mining regultions, and the threat of new laws that will make it even more difficult for companies to mine coal, my husband has been cut down in hours, and may even face a lay off due to his companies inability to get the necessary permits to mine coal. Though my husband is a high school graduate, he would never be able to get a job anywhere making the kind of money that he makes mining coal. If he loses his job, we will lose everything, including my health insurance, and I have metastatic breast cancer that has spread throughout my body. We will lose our home, vehicles, will not have the money to provide for our basic needs, and I may even lose my life. It is ridiculous to me to live in a country where there is enough coal to provide energy to the entire world for the next 300 years. Our government spends outrageous amounts of tax dollars on programs that provide nothing to the taxpayers that put there money into it. I refuse to believe that we do not have the capability to mine and burn coal in such a manner that would be safe for the environment, the miner, and human beings as a whole. If all these smart asses would use their brains to this purpose, rather than trying to figure out how to put several million hard working men and women out of work, we would no longer need to depend on foreign oil and all the hard working miners in this country would not have to worry about when their pink slips are coming.

I would love to know the difference of them shutting coal mines and strip mines down because they are supposely messing up the land when big shots come in here snd they tear down land everyday to build a new business and the land is never the same...At least when our coal miners are down with the land they reclaim it and build it back for the animals. They replant the trees and build the mountains back. Once these big shots pour that concrete and put the walls up the land is no longer their for the wildlife.
