Please support the “Recreational Boating Act of 2007†which restores the exemption for pleasure boats to EPA regulations covering commercial shipping’s ballast water discharge in U.S. waters. Unless this 34-year-old EPA exemption – which was thrown out by the Ninth Circuit of Appeals in Sept. 2006 – is reinstated, 18 million recreational boats will be required to have expensive EPA permits by September, 2008.The cost of these permits will have the effect of stopping the use of most recreational boats and will kill an industry, throwing hundreds of thousands of people out of work, and will keep boat owners from enjoying their leisure time, to say nothing of denying them their property rights.
The EPA, environment groups, NMMA, and all boaters support the “Recreational Boating Act of 2007.â€

Thank you for your support of this Act and by doing so, show all American citizens for whom you actually work, that you folks can actually do something that is productive and which makes sense. The recent handling of the Immigration issue really leaves doubt with most citizen that Congress can do anything productive, however, this issue is so simple even an elementary school student government association could get it right. Simply support restoration of the exemption, it's really that simple. Thanks again.

Please support the “Recreational Boating Act of 2007†which restores the exemption for pleasure boats to EPA regulations covering commercial shipping’s ballast water discharge in U.S. waters. As I understand it the law was meant for large/commercial ships and was not intended to apply to private boats such as bass boats. Unless this 34-year-old EPA exemption is thrown out by the Ninth Circuit of Appeals in Sept. 2006 approximately 18 million recreational boats will be required to have expensive EPA permits by September, 2008. Again I am told the cost would be approximately $800.00.The cost of these permits will have the effect of stopping the use of most recreational boats and will serious affect on the industry. It would keep boat owners from enjoying their leisure time, to say nothing of denying them their property rights.

This is an ignorant law, it's not saying much for the lawmakers in this country.

We will also need to elect new representatives and senators. Boat makers will not be the only ones out of work.
